In the last few days I'm having serious problems staying logged on since the launcher was released. On patch day my computer kept freezing. I couldn't move my mouse pointer and I had no option but to manually reset. Today the client keeps logging me out for no apperent reason. No error messages or anything. Getting fed up with the constant logging off..... Been playing for two years without any major problems and I have no idea why or what has gone wrong all of a sudden.
So if anyone else has experience similar issues and knows a way to fix it let me know. |

Yeah, same problem playing fine, then crash to desktop.

I'm another one getting this. In Australia. No problems ever until 1.5.
What I have noticed is that if I try to jump on any of the eveonline.com websites as soon as it locks up, those aren't responsive either. I have no problems accessing any other websites/applications when this happens.
Very frustrating! |

From New Zealand here. Currently Eve has become unplayable for me. It was fine before the most recent patch. I was able to stay connected for hours and hours without issue. My issues started right after the most recent patch. It's really frustrating as I am not even able to stay connected for more than 5-10 mins at most.
Always at ae-2-52.edge4.London1.Level3.net I seem to get 33% packet loss or higher, tonight it's been at 47% . I 'm still waiting on a reply from CCP over this issue also. I spoke to another New Zealand and Australian player who were experiencing frequent disconnects also. I would like to add I experience no other issues with any other online game at this time.
Very frustrating. I feel powerless and clueless on where to go next with this issue. I contacted my ISP and sent them my ping plotter data and we shall see !

WinXP with 3 install folders. If I run one client it would after some time crash to desktop, no new login screen (dont use the launcher), and no error code or dump.
If I have one client going and I start another up, without shutting down client one, my PC reboots. No errors or blue screens, just a cold reboot. I then have to start both clients up within seconds of each other, otherwise it happens again.
Getting so sick of this, 3 installations updated separately, and they all do the same.
Oh yeah, I ran the Repair tool (new one) on each accout twice already, cleared my cache 3 times for each account, makes absolutely no difference. Internet connection is working 100%, even changed ISP's trying to resolve this.

Well, this had seemingly cleared up for me for a few days... but it's back with avengeance in the last 2 days!
Worse still, it seems the timeout for the client to actually realise it's lost connection and recycle has increased, leaving you even more exposed than before!
I've got 2 sessions that just timed out, one is still sitting there waiting to realise, 5 minutes later...
This really is making the game unplayable right now :( |

Reporting same/similar issue.
Multiple people in my corp with the same problem since the patch as well.
For me at least it goes like this:
Every 10 minutes to 2 hours, one or more of my clients drop (they usually don't drop at the same time, but it happens enough that it's not JUST completely random).
My connection stays stable, pinging to CCP's IP(I can't recall what it is, but it was posted by a staff member in a much older thread about the same/similar issue) does not show loss at the time of the drops.
I've tried many many resolutions with no luck. The only thing that works pretty well for me is a paid service called HotSpot Shield (also recommended in that earlier thread). The free version kind of works but their network drops so many packets it's almost unusable. Honestly I would pay the extra cash for the Hotspot shield sub, but that program comes with it's own slew of issues I haven't been able to resolve.
CCP, at least acknowledge there is an issue. This has been a major problem for years for many players and you guys just pretend like it doesn't exist. Ignoring forum posts/petitions is utterly insane. If I can't get this resolved, or at least get the hotspot vpn thing to work, I'm going to have to cancel my 3 accounts. |

Guys, thanks for the bumps. Please try and document the issue a bit more thoroughly if possible. When did it start? How often does it happen? What happens exactly? For example, on mine I always just get kicked back to the login screen. Then when I try to log in again I get this error "socket closed". Some guy in my corp will sometimes see the socket closed error when he gets kicked off, instead of just when he tries to log back in. More info will make it easier for CCP to try to help (if they even try).
You can also run LogServer.exe from the EVE home directory. Run if BEFORE you run the game client. When it crashes, save the workspace and upload it to a file hosting service like Rapidshare and post the link here. I haven't had much time to look, but it would be nice if we could narrow it down in the log to where it's happening.
Also, KEEP BUMPING THIS THREAD - CCP can't ignore us forever. File petitions in game or on the site. This isn't some small group of people. For every person posting there are going to be dozens or hundreds that aren't. This has been going on for years, and they need to pay attention. |

I am not sure if I am having the same issues, but it sounds fairly similar.
The first issue, whenever I am using autopilot, the game logs me out after 1-2 jumps. Not sure if this is normal, or something else but I have never experienced this before.
2nd issue is a hellacious increase in lag. I have never seen lag like this before in EVE, dunno what is causing it but I know it's not on my end. Another thing to tackle onto that is every hour or so, I essentially lag out. I'll be mid fight and all of a sudden I will notice health not going up or down and nothing is changing. It's essentially a lag out, i keep moving, and numbers keep changing on distances, but nothing is actually happening. The only way I have found to fix it is to just log out, then log back in.
It's quite frustrating. Any guidance, help info would be great. |

Zaphena,
Your issue sounds more to be like a connection issue. I would check for packet loss. You can do a ping test by going to command prompt and typing in "ping google.com -n 1000"
Once it finishes it will show sent = 1000, Received = xxxx
If you receive less than you send, that is a lost packet. Run a few times to see if you need. A normal connection will drop anywhere from .05 to .5 percent depending on distance, quality, etc. If you are getting over 1% lost contact your ISP. If ping test looks fine do a speed test at www.speedtest.net Make sure you are getting what you should be. If not, contact your ISP.
Basically your issue seems to be connection related and not what we are seeing here.

It's essentially a lag out, i keep moving, and numbers keep changing on distances, but nothing is actually happening. The only way I have found to fix it is to just log out, then log back in.
It's quite frustrating. Any guidance, help info would be great. Zaphena, Your issue sounds more to be like a connection issue. I would check for packet loss. You can do a ping test by going to command prompt and typing in "ping google.com -n 1000" Once it finishes it will show sent = 1000, Received = xxxx If you receive less than you send, that is a lost packet.
There could actually be multiple issues at play here. This thread is around lag/disconnections since 1.5 was deployed :)
There is definitely some network flakiness going on as per the traceroutes shown here, but there's a client issue too. As many people have reported, that they can have multiple sessions, but only one seems to have an issue. I'm finding this to be the case around 50% of the time.
What I don't understand is why A) the "network" issues seemed to have started around 1.5 time and B) if it's a network issue, why does it not consistently kill all sessions on a single machine, not just some as stated above.
Please CCP, take a look at this, it's extremely frustrating. For me personally, I've got 5 accounts and at this rate, they'll all be going on hold at renewal time if this persists. |

Same issue. I run three separate client instances on two computers. Teamspeak also running to a server in the US. (I'm in Aus.)
All three clients will stop communicating at same time, teamspeak keeps going. While it's going on (generally about 20 seconds) I can ping other web sites, teamspeak keeps working, but pinging www.eveonline.com times out. When www.eveonline comes back (I.e. I start getting echo responses) the clients recycle (log out and restart) and I can log back in.
Started in last 4 or 5 days for me. Seriously annoying.
Any info/ideas appreciated. |

Yeah same issue here. Based in Aus, and am randomly losing connection to the server. If I have multiple clients going I usually lose all of them at the same time. Will try to get more diagnostic info, trace routes, etc. |

Here are ping plotter results:
http://i.imgur.com/yqyMP.jpg [the red bars are the % of packet loss, the thick ones are where the dropouts occur]
i have had the occasional random dropout in my time of playing eve, and it has never irked me in the slightest, but at the moment i can guarantee it will happen once or twice within every hour of playing.
I will be dropping my subscription till someone pulls their finger out. as it is pretty much unplayable at the moment. With the frequency of dropouts, i cant really leave the station with any degree of safety.
Have sent email to ISP and also to CCP, surprise surprise, CCP have not bothered answering at all yet... |

The first issue, whenever I am using autopilot, the game logs me out after 1-2 jumps. Not sure if this is normal, or something else but I have never experienced this before.

Just did the ping google trick and I have 0% loss. No losses recorded in 1000 hits.

I think the best part of this little issue, is that it seems to always happen at the worst time, like mid battle, or mid flight in a low sec area. I really hope this issue is resolved in the near future before I lose millions in ship/fittings because a game I pay for isnt being correctly worked on. |

I've messaged 2 CCP employees and one GM from the forums asking them if they could take a look at this or forward it to a more appropriate person. Hopefully that will get some response. I've got 3 accounts that are basically useless right now. Please keep posting and get the word out to your corps/alliances/friends and keep this thread bumped and keep filing petitions. |

Yeah, same, i have been given the automated 'install pingplotter' response as well, if they had of actually read my petition past the title they would have seen that i had already done that.
Regardless of that, it is actually nice to finally get a response 'of sorts' even if it is automated.
I have also pointed them to this thread, so hopefully they will get on it.
So, i've been monitoring ping plotter results, everything is fine, few packets dropped here and there, eve runs smooth, and then my client drops out, checking ping plotter results while this happens, i notice that i get a solid block of packet loss, and it climbs ONLY in the last 4 hops, 3 of them being CCP's own servers, and the jump between CCP and the router ahead of this [195.219.67.246] the percentages only climb on those 4 hops, none other
Seems someone was having simlar problems back in 2011>
http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1461414&page=1
and CCP eventually rerouted the server and fixed the problem... if you are having problems, make sure you petition it |

Same for me... got the pingplotter response. Will do the same as with the traceroute though, have it ready to fire as soon as I drop; usually all traffic for me to CCP's sites dies for about a minute or two, hopefully enough to capture something useful. Suggest everyone else does the same :) |

My issues:
Slow to log in. Seems that the network traffic is slow.
Enter into play. Windows take time to update. I look at th in game monitor (Ctrl alt shift m) and there is no downstream traffic, or it is slow from the server. It usuallly stops updating anything after a few minutes, then the client crashes to desktop.
This has occured to me just after the last patch as I have had no problems before this. |

Having the same issues, some days it doesn't seem to bad then others it's every 20 to 1-2 hours if im lucky.
Lost a HG crystal set + cyclone in lowsec form this today
4-5 accounts on 2 machines dropped at the same time. 2 accounts stayed "logged" in with ships sitting in space but no response the others rebooted to login screen.
I noticed the eve online website also hangs at times.
Also in Aus, using iinet and ADSL 2.
Never had connections issues like this since starting in 2006.
Losing implants is a pain but nothing major, being able to stay connected and play the game is more important.

do you lose pings when thrown out of the game ?
Traceroutes are good for me to see the path/what provider you are using, and request-timeout in the traceroute only means a router in the path is not replying to the traceroute tool.

Packet loss will almost always originate from 204.245.39.42 for anyone under the ISP, iinet. I've sent in a few pingplotter tests via petition and was advised to contact my ISP - unfortunately they're being very slow about it. Here's another 6-8 hours worth of pretty much the same. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/71422966/eve.pp2 |

Yes, im watching pingplotter as the dropouts occur, over time there is occasional packetloss, but nothing too strenuous for the client to handle, then at the exact moment the client drops connection, there is an error reported ['ERR'] for the last 4 servers, [3 of them being the CCP ones and the first hop out, you can see this in the picture i linked earlier in this thread] http://i.imgur.com/I47M5.jpg
Note: none of the other routers in the route are reporting error
Pingplotter reports a solid red chunk of 100% packetloss sometimes up to 60 seconds worth, usually more like 20 or so seconds, and then the client drops me back to the login screen
and the whole process is repeated over and over again...
At the most inopportune moments...
And as fequently as 2 [sometimes 3-4] times an hour..
Have spoken with my ISP, they were very quick to respond, and had a look at it from their end, they changed my IP, but as expected it has done nothing to stop the dropouts from occuring |

First off, thanks to CCP Mort for the response!
Second off, it would be much more helpful if you guys post the ping plotter results. Run the test to 87.237.38.200. Do unlimited for "# of times to trace". Set the interval to like 1 or 2 seconds. Set the samples to include to make it so you have 2-3 minutes of history (for for 1 second interval use 120-180 and for 2 second interval use 60-90). Keep ping plotter up while running the client.
When you drop, screen shot the ping plotter. What this is going to do is show us WHERE your traffic stops. It will show if it's coming from your ISP, from CCP, or somewhere along the way.
You'll see red bars show up on the nodes your traffic isn't making it to.
About 2 days ago my ISP started having packet loss issues and as such I haven't been able to nail down my own discos (hard to tell from legitimate discos cause by my ISP). But if you guys come back with that info it will be very useful.

Traceroutes are good for me to see the path/what provider you are using, and request-timeout in the traceroute only means a router in the path is not replying to the traceroute tool.
- Mort Yes, yes and oh god yes. I've been retesting this tonight using ping plotter. I'm actually coming in through a different route now than when I first saw the problem, but I'm still getting packet loss. Usually its in short bursts, but occasionally it goes up to over half a minute, and that's when I drop. I'm now getting the loss in node #16 (ix-12-0-0-3045.core4.LDN-London.as6453.net):

ok - this is interesting
I'm going to go over the traces you showed me - hopefully I can pin this to a single provider.
I have already asked the GM's to give me the IP's you are connecting from, as we don't want you to give that out in the forums. The path trace you take is not necessarily the same that I see as the routes are very often asymmetric
thanks for all the input - this is very valuable.

ok - just a very informal look - looking at the nearest hop to you . I see that the path I chose to you is through Teleglobe/TATA.
I'm going to do a route change and make Teleglobe unsexy to use - I'm going to do that during DT tomorrow Thursday. I would then like to see if this changes anything. It's quite hard to talk to those guys, this would give me some gold-ammo to use if this fixes the problems.

Same here.
IINET, ADSL2+, Australia, 150m from exchange ;-)
Everything has been perfect until a few weeks ago, a bit hard to pinpoint the exact date, which is why I too had originally thought it was related to the launcher and/or client.
It is not a localised connection issue, as all other interactive interwebs applications are still connected (mumble, rdp, ssh, etc), only eve client restarts and I did verify quickly that the modem link has not dropped out for weeks. Have not further monitored connectivity as yet because of this reason, but it may be an upstream connection between iinet and ccp.
I have run LogServer.exe before client start and whilst client disconnected randomly, and saved the workspace. What do we do with this little gem?

i'm going to quote a reply from GM about what to do with those files:
C) Finding the crashdump ( if one is created )
Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows XP %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows Vista or Windows 7
Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.
D). Also if you haven't already sent us your Dxdiag files run the DirectX diagnostics tool:
1. Press 'Start' and select 'run'. Type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up. 2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner.
When you've gathered all the files compress them all into a .zip or .rar file ( depending on which compression program you use ) Then attach the compressed file to either this e-mail reply ( sent to the e-mail you associated with your EVE account ) or by using the attachment box by logging in to "My Petitions" on our homepage ( http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx ) open the petition there. An attachment box is presented after opening the petition.

7 less hops, and around 100ms improvement in ping. The main diff though? Previously I was averaging 10-15% packet loss to the final destination, the new one seems to be about 1.5%

Reading through the thread it appears that whatever was changed on Thursday (EVE time) which was Friday morning when I patched, seems coincidently to have resulted in a few Aussie players posting that they have this issue. I applied the last patch Friday morning and the disconnects started happening at a rate of at least 1-2 per hour.
Is CCP going to revert/fix the Thursday change or we Aussies just going to have to fork out for third party software to make EVE work?

Well, I can report I'm still solid as a rock since the change the other day, not a single drop.
Didn't post this to gloat, just to point out that it defintely looks more like a network issue, not a client one, in IMO.
I've also looked at my new route compared to the route everyone else seems to be taking and they are different... in the last 3 hops, the following are common to everyone that's posted a traceroute:
srv245-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.245] srv248-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.248] srv200-g.ccp.cc [87.237.38.200]
those are usually, but not always, proceeded by this node
[204.245.39.42]
With my new route, the last hops are
srv248-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.248] srv200-g.ccp.cc [87.237.38.200]
it no longer hits
srv245-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.245]
and the preceeding node is also different, being
[204.245.39.38]
This might be a logically leap too far, but based on the above, it would seem traffic going via srv245-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.245] or the nodes that route to it is where the fault may lie. |

Unfortunately 204.245.39.42 seems to be the one causing my issues, and I suspect issues for other Aussie players above. I wish to know whether the change implemented by CCP Mort is encouraging our packets to go through this dodgy server. Sorry I am not techie enough to know the correct terminology, but from several tracert's I have run, they all seem to hang at that point longer than all the other jumps. As mentioned before, I almost never had unexplained drops in a year of playing, and now they are happening regularly to the point of making EVE unplayable. |

On Wed/Thu (Aus time) it was all good again -- no disconnects. I did a PingPlotter dump and saw I was being routed a different way, via the PaloAlto/Newark/London.as6453.net servers. No 204.245.39.42, as there had been before. There were a heap more hops and some low levels of packet loss, but the client seemed to handle it OK.
After downtime on Thu and into Friday, the disconnects started again. I fired up PingPlotter and saw the routing had changed back and I was once again going through 204.245.39.42 just before hitting the three CCP servers. And during the disconnects I was seeing 100% packet loss across all four.
I installed BattlePing and chose 'London' as the server to use. I've had no disconnects while using it.

This might be a logically leap too far, but based on the above, it would seem traffic going via srv245-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.245] or the nodes that route to it is where the fault may lie. My experience matches the Bending Unit.
My last hops are the same..
11 296 ms 294 ms 296 ms 204.245.39.38 12 295 ms 298 ms 297 ms srv248-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.248] 13 296 ms 295 ms 299 ms srv200-g.ccp.cc [87.237.38.200]
And since the routing change, I have not had a single drop, after having had 1-2 every hour without fail for the previous week+, when I did have srv245-e.ccp.cc [87.237.36.245] on my route.
Additionally, the new route is shorter and faster, 13 hops compared to 19 when it was going via as6453.net. and under 300ms (from Sydney) compared to approximately 330 previously. |

I'm seeing the same behaviour after the first tweaks were made a couple of days ago. I.e. it's a lot better as I rarely get packet loss but I still get the occasional extended period of packet loss which is long enough to disconnect the client. |

The first reply was shortly after I started PMing CCP employees directly. It's hard to tell if they are legitimately working on it or just trying to sate us until we unsub and forget about this. As I cannot seem to replicate the issue any longer due to actual issues with my ISP that have started up, I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself. However, if you want a response you should contact the people who need to respond.
Worst case scenario they ban you from paying for a game you can't play. |

Have done the same and it works great, no discos at all while using Battleping. The thing is, after the trial I'm kind of stuck because I really don't want to pay for something else to make EvE work correctly. Maybe only $5 a month but meh, it's all about the principle of the matter. If CCP rectified/looked into it in the past, why can't they respond now and let us know their working on it? Anything is better than nothing imo. 6 days til Battleping trial runs out.

Problem is still on-going (see pingpotter image for last night http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/WTM/Internet%20pictures/15April2012-015506.png )
Battleping is not a solution for me, as I would need to sign up at least 2-3 times due to both my wife and I playing, and the use of multiple machines within our house.
So, it seems that this really may be outside of CCPs control (3rd party infrastructure provider), so I have tracked them down, and am attempting to engage with them via twitter.
Anyone else wishing to "communicate" with them... http://www.level3.com/ and @Level3 on twitter.
Hopefully this gets us some action, if not then I guess I need to tidy up in eve as our 7 accounts cancel out. |

Apparently CCP worked with Global Crossing to resolve things last time this happened, in 2010. I'm hopeful they'll be able to put things right again. As others have said, we shouldn't have to use BattlePing just to get baseline service.
In the meantime, for me it's BattlePing in-game (5 days left in my free trial) and Tweeting at CCP and Level 3 out-of-game.

Getting frequent disconnects - data just stops moving - i used crtl+alt+shift+m monitor and it all just goes to - with 2-3 outstanding packets. At the same time eveonline.com website stops responding. Then i crash out . When I reconnect sometimes the launcher or the login screen says it can't connect/get server status. Issue clears itself up in around 1 minute or so.
Everything else (voice comms, web browsing, other network connectivity) works perfectly fine during these network issue with eve.

CCP, can't you just handle intermittent packet loss better?
If the connection dies, try and re-establish it for a second or two before killing the client? Lock the interface, put a "Connection Issue" message across the screen in big red letters and try and handle this situation a bit more gracefully?
Pinning it down to a specific ISP is a good short term measure, but EVE doesnt handle connections with hiccups very well at all. |

Yup, ditto here... last hops all the same for me given another routing change... pings all 2000-3000ms (from 300-350ms this morning on the old route), makes even PvE utterly frustrating.
Good news is though that the first of my accounts comes up for renewal next Sunday, so at least I won't be bleeding any more money from next week! :) |

Also, if you haven't already, please post your PingPlotter or traceroute if you're a) in Australia and with an ISP other than iiNet or b) not in Australia.
I've had a Tweet from @Erlendur, software director at CCP, that they're aware of this thread, and "players experiencing this appear to be from Australia and mention iiNet as their ISP". While there do seem to be a lot of Australian iiNet customers in this thread, looking at all of the posts I don't think everyone experiencing this problem is from Australia or uses iiNet if they are are... |

Most definitely not just iiNet by the looks of it. I've seen mention of dodo and Telstra in this thread already just from memory. iiNet is big enough that they have mostly different infrastructure from Telstra, so the common points in the route here all seem to be once it goes off shore from the land down under... dunno, maybe the packets get turned upside down or something to correct for the northern hemisphere ;) |

I assume you are on ADSL if thats the case than you can go with any provider you wish to. there are compitition laws that ensure this is the case. you are miss informed. just FYI incase you actualy want to change.
note: It apears internode customes are not getting the issue, they were recently bought by iinet perhaps iinet should start using internode routes to help afected users get around the problem. |

Same here -- fired up the client without using BattlePing and so far no disconnections. And it's back to the route with Global Crossing.
They need to change the hamsters more frequently, I think... It would still be nice if someone from CCP dropped in and told us what the problem was and how they fixed it.

Guess he's sick... My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw CCP Mort pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Tokra, Alex: when your client crashes, is it because you've lost connection to the server? Have you run PingPlotter to check your connection? It sounds like your issues might be something different than what we've experienced. |

Will keep an eye on the situation. Would be good to know whether CCP did anything or whether this is just dumb luck. |

This started yesterday for me and many other people I talk with in-game. I had one random disconnect yesterday. Now I can't stay logged on for more than a few minutes. Eve mail, ships window, markets, pretty much any info window refuses to load. Evemon and other apps I use also lose connection. Surfing the interwebs and playing other games works fine. Can I have your vindicator? |

Tracert and Pingplotter will be posted soon. I knew I held off thanking CCP for fixing this for a reason We really need it sorted and I really don't believe it happens to people just in AU. |

Last two days random DC's.
Clients work fine, then sometimes there seems to be a lag spike or hang in the client server relationship then i either DC or it comes right. I often lose either one or two clients.
I often get the 'you have been logged out of audio chat' message (what audio chat btw? I dont use EVE voice) then within a minute directional scanner doesnt work. Then i have to wait 20-30 seconds before i either crash or it comes right.

Nothing to do with multi boxing, I don't run multiple clients. I have in the past but never had this issue anyway. When I play EVE sometimes I have TS going or and external browser, these remain fine when EVE discos. And TS or the external browser is not the culprit because I get these dicos regardless. Had 3 this morning, one within the first hour and then 2 within the the next 30mins.
Actually discussing things with iiNet as I'm typing this. Hopefully something is worked out. |

Also with regards to it been an Australian problem, why is it only EVE, and EVE sites becoming unresponsive, while the rest of the interwebs works fine. Also a number of people from other countries like Ueberlisk have said they are having the same/similar issue.
ItGÇÖs not like our ISP's are failing, as the internet is still functioning it something specific. But knowing a very little bit about how the internets works, this type of problem is really bull **** hard to troubleshoot.
However I would really like CCP to say something else on the matter, itGÇÖs been over a week. Just so we know we are not talking to a brick wall.

Hi people I am getting the same problem with the disconnects, as far as my research is concerned I've pinpointed a server in the US 204.245.39.38 is owned by Level-3 I am with iinet in Australia they can't do anything. If everyone getting this issue hassle this company perhaps we might get some results. to check if you're getting the problem with the same server try running Pinplotter whilst running the game using the Tranquility server as the destination address (87.237.38.200) |

It would make more sense if the entity with the vested interest (i.e. CCP making money, or losing it in this case) approach the company in question.
Judging by the complete lack of engagement of CCP in this thread*, I assume it is not affecting enough people for them to care. I find this particularly galling as my problems started after CCP Mort said he tweaked routing on page 3 of this thread, and then seemingly walked away from the issue.
Removing subs is the only language gaming companies seem to understand.
* Just a "we are working on it" would be helpful. |

Although I am doubting it's iiNet, because there are others who aren't on iiNet that are having issues as well, most of our pings and pingplotters tell us different. Anyway... 5 discos last night after DT, withiin a span of a few hours. How is this acceptable to CCP? Come on guys can we please rectify the issue? They told us to post pings and pingplotter, and this was for... seems like much of nothing. I'm sure there are others in EVE having the issue but not everyone will post, we are just the just vocal few. |

I'm suffering packet loss of about 93% to 97% when hitting the last reach.com node and the ccp.cc nodes.
I've sent an email to reach.com but I don't have much faith that it will do anything because I'm not their customer.
CCP should be able to contact them as reach.com feeds the CCP.CC network, either directly or via their data provider.
But I suppose CCP is too busy rolling in cash they can't send an email or read this thread.
Please CCP... take a moment... It's your opportunity to shine!
Thanks

Update...
Had an idea...
I setup my Android mobile phone with the WiFi access point and am now playing EVE over my mobile phone (Telstra as well).
Pings have gone from about 290 (Telstra Internet) to 350 (Telstra mobile).
BUT... my dropouts have now stopped with EVE.
I can't traceroute when running on the mobile phone.. i get no IP returned for all 15 hops to 87.237.38.200.
Personally... I think there is an issue with the connection from reach.com to ccp.cc. Some router in there is randomly dropping connections for brief periods.
There are a number of Australian users (and international as well) who are getting pushed through that router.
The only way I can see the recent patches of EVE as being the cause is if they have decreased the amount of time the EVE Client can recover if the 'connection lost' errors start coming through.
It may have been an issue all along but the clients could recover...
CCP.. have you changed parameters around how the EVE client can stay 'logged in' if it thinks the connection to the back end servers is dropped?
CCP... please get onto your ISP and get them to start monitoring the connections from reach.com into their premesis.. I'm pretty sure there is an issue there.
CCP... thanks.

Funny you mention Reach.com because I have recieved an email from the Tech I spoke to at iiNet. Waiting another reply but this is well outside ISP's responsibility. Email follows:
"I remember speaking to you today, it was quite a pleasure! As mentioned beforehand, I am a fellow gamer myself and completely understand the frustration in continuous drop outs.
The very first indication that it could be the server is when you mentioned the game itself loses connection, yet all your other internet applications were working fine. I know that in itself seems like too simple of an explanation, which is why I am happy to look into this issue for you.
In this trace route, you have indeed noticed the one which it jumps to a more significant latency, but what I'm primarily concerned about is hop 8. That is the first hop in which the latency spikes. I'm sure you have already noticed, but after the 6th hop it is no longer our network, in which unfortunately I'm unable to assist you with any sort of network investigation. However, I personally have looked into what the cause of this spike could be and am getting continuous opinions from fellow peers.
Out of curiosity, I (somewhat shamefully, might I add) Googled that particular IP (202.84.141.146) and found some forums in which they were talking about it in particular.
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1127012 (Not sure why I couldn't access this page but not the one you sent me, anyway. The exact same IP seems to be having those issues.)
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4427566267?page=1 (Once again, same issue but on WoW. Almost the exact same dates in which EVE started having problems. Here is the fault in association with this: http://www.iinet.net.au/status/fault.php?id=1964630)
From looking at when these were posted, the problem has been going on for quite a few weeks now. Surprisingly though, Starcraft runs off the same network (Reach Networks) and has not been having the same problems as of late. My best guess would be the root of this problem for yourself and many other players which have replicated the issue lies in hop 6. This would be going through our upstream provider in which we have sadly no control over. At most, I can have someone in our faults team have a look into it.
I won't give up yet though, I'll let you know of what else I can find!
Kind regards,
R K"
So there you have it...

I have ran two accounts for a very long time now. As of yesterday I can't run one for more than 15-20 mins. I'm not about all trying to find out why or trying workarounds or posting all sorts of information. Eve has always worked for me using the two accounts, it doesn't now. Either there is a fix and quickly or I will simply go to another game, plain and simple. It's aggravating to say the very very least. |

Just to add my two-peneth, I am in the uk and dual box. I recently returned to eve about two weeks ago now and have since coming back seen all the game improvements etc etc which helped me think I'd made the right choice of coming back.
Then I began to experience drop outs and disconnections regularily and believed it was my t'internet connection, but with the frequency these were occurring I decided to look into this further and found this thread.
Thanks for all the investigations everyone has undertaken and I am sure the Dev's are still investigating, but the lack of updates is reminding me of the period which saw me amongst many others leave the game. I had believed CCp had learned a valuable lesson during that period and I expect to see updates for issues of this nature affecting so many players.
So come on guys, at least let us know this is still being investigated.

I'm with iinet in Australia and I have had this problem as well. I seem to get connected fine but after a while Eve just loses connect for, what appears to be, no real reason. It happens at random times, some days more than others.
Didn't bother doing a tracert because I assume it'd be just like the others here. So far today, it hasn't happened yet. Yesterday it happened a few times. |

Ok, received another email from this kind person at iiNet. One hard working tech let me tell you, so cast aside that iiNet has crap customer support
Email follows:
"Hi,
I have been looking after your issue the past couple of days and forwarded the information to our Network Operations team here. They advised me it is definitely outside of our network and there is unfortunately nothing we are able to do on our end.
Level 3 communications INC own that IP, it is the firewall of EVE and manages load balancing for EVE servers. This is completely due to the provider EVE is using. This is the company here: http://whois.arin.net/rest/nets;q=204.245.39.42?showDetails=true&showARIN=false&ext=netref2
A few other major games such as SWTOR and WoW are still having this issue. The private company running this IP is a bit shaky, and I can chase this up further but thereGÇÖs nothing more I can do from here other than provide you with updates in regards to the matter.
I really hope the issue is resolved soon for your own sake and your friends.
Please feel free to use this email if you have any similar problems in the future and IGÇÖll be happy to look into it for you. It will be active for as long as I am working here.
Good luck and take care.
Kind regards, RK"

I also contacted reach.com via a few email addresses as posted on www.reach.com under Contact Us.
If CCP could get in touch with their ISP it would be great.
We only need 1 person in CCP to pick it up and resolve the issue.. feel like i'll start shooting structures in jita again soon.
I still have my original protest ship too.

Great work mate... iiNet Customer Service FTW! :) Well, not really a win... but at least it's yet more info that suggests the root cause of the problem and the owner...
Please CCP, at least post an update and say you're working on it... the silence from you is deafening. Also, you should know, once Aussies are annoyed at something, we never shut up till it's resolved ;) Must be all the Vegemite in the water down here or something... |

If it stays solid for a few days, then maybe we could call it fixed. It was fine for about 3 days last week but then it decided to go all wonky again. So all I can say is... We'll see

I will do the same. No reason to keep paying if I cannot play. If the issue is not solved by the end of my subscriptions (2 accounts) then I'm sure I will find other games/companies that will be happy to earn 30$/month from me. |

Same here, it does seem to happen after this new launcher and i even went out and bought a new pc hoping to fix it but nope. I have almost lost a few ships because of it, when it logs you out your ship and charector still show in space so you are vulnerable to attack. Now theres another problem with really slow login and when i dock in station i just have black screen. Come on ccp why try and fix something that wasnt broken. It was good a couple months ago now i cant trust it to fly around in null. :( |

my connection was better for the last 2ish days, but since DT i have not been able to log in for more than 30 seconds.
Whats going on CCP?
seems like a fair few people have illustrated the problem, is anything happening? have people been contacted?
it would be dissapointing if so much ccp effort can go into goons greifing jita while real, serious problems get ignoored. |

Here are some of the issues I have had with eve over the last 2 weeks.
Client crashing randomly Character selection screen stuck "entering game as..? Finally loading into eve and my ship is stuck at some safe spot. Cant active modules or warp to anything. It will then crash. Some random socket error and a crash.
Australia / WA ISP: Westnet.
Please fix this. |

I see that you are connecting from Australia, it seems that other Australian and New Zealand players are suffering similar problems which seems to be caused by your ISP's backbone provider. It seems like the only way to get a responce from CCP is to make a petition. So if your not in this blanked excuse that is it an Australian and New Zealand problem I suggest you make a petition.
It is unfortunate but if it is reach.com as a backbone provider causing the problems there is not really anything that can be done about it. CCP has no way of making them provide better service because they do not provide any direct service to CCP and same for the ISP's. It is probably worth checking if you not is Aus, NZ that if you still sending traffic through the Reach backbone, there is talk about which IP that is somewhere on page 9 I think. If your not using Reach I suggest you take your problem to another topic as I think this one has been labelled the Reach specific problem.
However the internet is a dynamic thing so if the game is unplayable now, come back in a month or something and it could be all better. Saying that I have been very lucky the last couple of days as it *seems* to be pretty stable, only the odd d/c ever second day.
It still really sucks that CCP said they are looking into this. Then felt that we deserved no more feedback, even if it is just. "sorry guys, not our fault, blame these peoples"
Pisses me off to be honest. |

This was the same response I got from a petition I sent to CCP when this first started happening to me. I took upon myself to first get tracer routes and pingplotters together. Second tweeting CCP higher ups with help from others. Third I called iiNet and luckily got a tech that followed up and actually helped. Now whether it was iiNet's end and they're not telling me this(tend to doubt it), it has been fixed. I have had no issues for the past week or so. I do know that my route has changed since my first tracer route. I'm not saying everyone's issue is fixed, that's obvious. I will start tweeting CCP again and make them aware that this issue for some hasn't been resolved. |

I go exactly the same response. They r useless. I contacted iinet, but off course "its not their fold". Any way, if u r in Australia, and r using iiNET than, one thing that you can try is to login to https://toolbox.iinet.net.au and in "The Connection Speed Manager" u can change your profile to GAMER. According to iiNET, GAMER profile is:
Quote:GamerADSL2/2+ Speeds up to 24,000 kbps (UNINTERRUPTED)Well suited for time sensitive, interactive applications such as gaming, this selection is designed to provide the quickest connection response rather than a faster download speed.
I changed it myself from Standard to Gamer. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to play EVE recently, so I cannot test it whether it helps or not. |

Having constant disconnects from Eve, while everything else keeps working just fine. Not sure when it started, since I haven't played that much in previous weeks, but about month ago everything was alright and at least from last weekend onwards I've been kicked to login screen way too often.

I have this problem too. And I don't bother to get route until there's really a need to. From Finland also.
How I temporarily "solved" this problem: Constantly downloading some shait via p2p (torrents) keeps my connection up. Not cool to keep looking up some interesting CC licensed stuff. And when the download finishes connection drops. |

Its not an Australia problem and I doubt it is a ISP problem unless everyone just suddenly changed their ISP lately. Did you change your isp right before it started? Probably not. I didnt. I am in US also. Are you on trinity server or do you guys think it matters? I can use my money on things that work. I hope this gets resolved. I like MMO and CCP doesnt have a monopoly. |

I reckon if CCP won't solve this prob, and if it won't solve it fairly soon (for how long this issue is now going, for 3 weeks?), it will loose lotsa players, not to mention its reputation..... |

after doing some more research i've found out that the problem is not just for eve online players but also world of tanks players are reporting same issues. all of the packetloss ip's that i've cba to look at are being traced(who knows how accurate these are) into same telia datacenter located in switzerland.

That site gives only generic "in Europe" as a location for those Telia's IP addresses. The marker doesn't point to Switzerland, but Europe. Bit misleading map. It wouldn't make much sense to route traffic from Finland to London via Switzerland anyways.
But yeah, the issue seems to be somewhere in Telia's backbone. yes |

Have been having the same problems for over a week now. At first I thought it was on my end and I did everything I could think of, cleaning hardware/software, repairing client, adjusting firewall/router settings and opening EVE port. After seeing this thread I see its a much bigger problem. I managed somehow, some days were better than others, but yesterday my luck ran out and I lost a expensive ship because of it.
I hope this will get sorted soon... |

Hi,
It looks like everything is fine for me but the client is still crashing only after about 1 minute at most. it goes to the desktop then reloads the game.
If it's not connection problems what else could it be?
If this keeps up I'm going to ask for a refund, as the game is unplayable at the moment

So it seems that twice for 40 seconds the nodes 80.91.249.10 ldn-bb1-link.telia.net and 80.91.247.86 ldn-b3-link.telia.net timed out. These nodes are between my location and CCP server and belong apparently to the Swedish internet provider Telia.
Could you please change the routing table for me please or contact people from Telia to get their stuff sorted out?

Also experiencing socket loss at least once every two hours on two different computers, one wired the other wireless.
These issues sometimes happen at the same time on both computers and sometimes only one drops. |

Happening here too. I get about 45 minutes in then booted out.

I am experiencing the same issue. Running 2 characters on one machine I get the socket closed disconnect every 5 mins to an hour. The game is near unplayable for risk of losing ships/drones on a random disconnect, never mind the frustration of logging multiple characters back into the game constantly.

I attempted to use Hotspot Shield free, and it seemed to increase the amount of time between disconnects by a few minutes, though it could just be coincidence. I also reset the winsock settings.

Hey All,
As european, I dont have named troubles, but being known with the bittorrent world, the Deep Packet Inspection services employed by IINET are troubles now and then in keeping a swarm healthy in those regions. Could that be affecting the (encrypted) connection between CCP and your computer?
Just my 2 cents.

I've also been tailing these strange, constant disconnections which combined with EVE client causes my modem to spontaneously lose connection and reset itself.
As I'm operating the EVE client from Finland and after running PingPlotter (standard) for a while at 10 second intervals (I had no reason to go below that interval since it slowly became obvious that there are some nasty network problems involved in the form of lost packets) so (some) of my troubles seem to emanate from the Telia network.
PingPlotter reports anything from 25% - 100% packet loss across all their servers in a semi-random fashion yet constantly losing some packets at one of the following servers at the moment of writing:
hls-b4-link.telia.net s-bb1-link.telia.net hbg-bb1-link.telia.net ldn-bb1-link.telia.net ldn-b3-link.telia.net
The following report is also of interest confirming my guestimation that the troubles for me began about two weeks ago:
http://ukinternetreport.co.uk/?p=d&id=227
** also if you plug some of the names of the servers into goolio you'll quickly notice that there have been issues with the rodent ridden boxes of overworked packet gnomes everywhere and this cluster isn't the only one
But anyway, just my quick sloosh into the nasty matter. Problem still persists. |

Lost my post
...so on with the unsigned version:
Ran all sorts of network tests 24/7 (audio, video, browser) without any mysterious modem resets so my personal troubles emanate from the Telia-network nodes while using EVE client which unfortunately makes the EVE client useless for me at the moment.
**PingPlotter (standard) provides no useful information for me during the 'Socket Closed' event since all I see is packet losses across all the nodes from here to there. |

+3 All accounts now having issues again. Started awhile back after big patch....ermmm update. Complained while there was only 5 pages of it on forum. Problem decreased to the point where I could stay connected , sometimes for hours on end. Went away for 3 days over weekend only to return to a almost unplayable game. Timing out on load, not being able to stay logged on long enough to even change a skill. Tried to play this morning & seems even worse. I used to be able to play 2 accounts with highest res, now can't even stay logged on with 1 account. This is a CCP issue, not my connection or computer's fault. Either it gets fixed or CCP will loose 3 accounts. Socket closed, no hand shake, time out on sessions, etc. etc. |

Game unplayable for some weeks now. Unresponsive after couple minutes or less then Socket error.
Nothing wrong with my connection on every other online game I play, works perfectly.
Also there is nothing wrong with both tracert and ping. Posting them here:

Ping was running from login until Socket was closed error, the game was unresponsive (as in lagging totally, not freezing) couple minutes before the error.

Trace complete.
Since these exact symptoms are posted from players all around the world and all continents and from very different internet providers, it's extremely unlikely (impossible even) that it's their providers fault and not CCP.
Also, this problem is getting old (what is it, months now?) and considering the number of players it's affecting and the fact that it renders the game unplayable, I don't feel CCP is taking this seriously, it should have been fixed a long time ago. |

I am curious to why there is no official communication on this subject.
Will there be a soon fix or should we find something else to do?

Could this be DNS related?
I get the socket closed error (I understand this is a new error message) and whenever it happens I also disconnect for about 10 seconds on every other app. Chrome will not load webpages, TS will not work, and then it sorts itself out a few seconds later but any online games usually drop (Eve, HoN etc) |

so i log in my chars to begin my normal eve play
i start logging in the chars, before i complete the login, 2 or 3 chars will drop and the notification will pop up telling me EVE.exe has stopped working.
its only dropping some chars, not the whole group who run from the same install of eve. these i try to log back in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just crashes other clients.
Occasionally, i manage to log all the chars on and it may last for 10mins then i get the socket connection closed issues on all the chars at the same time.
Today when i started i had the message that my eve files were corrupt so i repaired the client using the repair tool. It also seemed to update twice, even though other instances of eve i have didnt so i assumed it was part of the repair fix.
I still cannot keep the accounts logged in.
I have tried it without TS running - still the same problem.
until today, this wasnt a normal problem. its only happened once before when we had issues with the international connections from the uk to euro which effected alot more than just the eve community.
any help or suggestions or a fix would be great. Thanks. |
