How is this a new imagining of Batman? He has always been rather a dark figure, except for that time when he became a ridicolous character in a spandex suit, sometime in the 70's (The old Batman movies ). The Joker is finally going back to his roots since he was a pshycotic serial killer in the first comics rather than the funny always laughing joker we recongnize from "Batman" where Jack Nicholson played him. But I haven't seen the movie, and I'm not comic expert.

Right, and Im sure your favorite style of Batman was the horrible renditions with George Clooney? Or maybe it was the rendition with Val Kilmer?
This Batman is gonna be the shit!

Booked for Odeon Leicester Square, London on the 27th. I am so looking forward to it.
Batman Begins was the best of all of the Batman movies by a mile and this one looks to better it.

You have the right to your opinion, but this is the way Batman is supposed to be. Vigilanties are typically dark, antisocial, and sociopaths with a sembalance of self-control not a Sunday morning comic toon.

I don't understand the comics-to-movie fetish. They almost always get it wrong, according to comic fans and movie fans. The source material is not so important or influential as to deserve multiple treatments like this. Comics are just entertainment, and movies made from them are usually bad entertainment. Yet the studios keep cranking them out, even to the point of re-doing Hulk. ****ing Hulk, a joke of a hero if there ever was one. They can make the most amazing Hulk or Batman movie ever, but it isn't going to erase the TV series starring Bill Bixby and Adam West. It just isn't.
And I'm only saying that because the efforts to make the perfect comic book movie appear to me to be attempts at exorcism!

WTF are you smoking? I never managed to sit through the whole original movie but that shit was @#$#ed up. At one point a torpedo was headed strait for the tied up batman/robin, you see an explosion, and batman announces how the sea manitee gave it's life for them. I mean wtf? Oh and shark repellant, seriously? Then of course batman couldn't throw a bomb into the ocean where there were ducks swimming. He had to find a ledge where there were no ducks . _______________

Well, they showed the animated batman as a morning cartoon over here... And for a morning cartoon Batman is pretty f-ing dark.
In any case. Personally I enjoy the various different interpretations of Batman. The tv-series from the 60s is incredibly cheesy and enjoyable. A defining example of "So bad it's good". The Michael Keaton batman movies were nice too (Michelle Pfeiffer in skin-tight latex helped too), and I really liked Batman Begins.
Looking forward to watching The Dark Knight. Given the fact that it's gotten rave reviews and the comments from everyone I know that watched it has been "It's better than the hype" I don't see how I could not enjoy watching it. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Insane IMDB rating as well, its number #1 on the all time list.
Clicky
So this movie is supposed to be better than every other movie known to man? I doubt it. Its a superhero movie ffs... entertaining Im sure, but hardly better than the movies that make you feel something real.
Oh well, I will give it a try when it comes around here.

Loved the movie! Pencil trick will go down as one of the most memorable scenes in movie history (and it's a very, very short scene). But ever scene with the Joker is just awesome. One of the coolest things about the Joker in this movie is that he's so unpredictable - unless you were counting on it. (that hurt my brain)
Anyways, some thoughts...
Next Batman Movie Villian: Who? Don't know. The Joker is gone (and I really hope he is, I would be offended if anyone try to rip heath's role - i feel it's his forever). I've been hearing rumors about the Riddler. I really don't want to see him in the next one. I don't think he's cool. I don't think he would fit in well in the new Gotham world. They would have to reinvent him. Now that would be cool. But if I see a villian with question marks all over his clothes, it's not going to go well on me.
What I want to see is a female character now take her turn in getting her mind twisted. Anyways, I'm just here waiting to pass out.. must. sleep... soon.

Don't forget Ra's al Ghul on the list of villains that have gotten the new treatment.
In any case. Catwoman and Poison Ivy would be interesting, but what I'm really looking forward to is Bane. Batman&Robin was a horrible disservice to the character, treating him as a jacked up mindless thug. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it.
