The whole situation makes much more sense in light of the above. If you're on the job, I can see how it would be frowned upon to take a bribe/ransom from someone you're being paid to kill. And while taking their money and then killing them (essentially, getting paid twice) is not the worst idea I've ever heard (assuming the idiots actually pay you), a mercenary corp/alliance makes its name on its reputation, which is worth more than any battlefield ransom.

your reasoning is a sad excuse.
rules are rules, all corps have them and disregarding how well thought or how stupid these rules are, their purpose is to be respected, thus corp leaders are reinforcing them.
lots of people get kicked from corps for not going by the corp rules.
you also fail to see the distance the op is taking his alliance from piracy, keeping it good into mercenary, where so called "honor" is important for contracts.
