Ahahahahahaha.....wow .
The real purpose is generally to sit there and play Duck Hunt.
The only reason Duck Hunters get kills is because the game mechanics funnel every sub-capital ship (weak exception BOBS) through the artificial means of jump gates that happen to land targets on a platter within a 15km radius.
What if CCP ditched the 15km spawn point and made it random within the system?
Result: Tears. En masse. Because then you might actually have to use the scanner and defend more than one crappy chokepoint.
It's space. It's open. Just because "xyz alliance" has some claim to it does not preclude other players from visiting at will for whatever purpose (exploration, pewpew, because they simply CAN).
Just don't try to justify nerfing speed with stupid arguments while padding your killboard stats with noob ships and shuttles .

This, together with the nerfing of local, could be interesting
Sadly CCP is going in a different direction....or appear to be at the moment.
It is funny that the anti-speed folks would cry about this stating "oh more ways to run" and those that actually have-again the 's' word-skill-would call it "attacking from a different direction" or even "creating an engagement" .
How dare I suggest such a fallacy .

Mmmm, yes, it has turned into a 'to nerf or not to nerf' debate rather then discussions about ship testing on SISI, but it appears that most of the people against the changes are against nerfing nanoships in principle (so any specific changes which are seen as a severe nanoHAC/nanorecon nerf they'll dispute on basis of principle rather then specific changes), as they hold that nanoships are necessary for them.
If you want to discuss SISI changes, basically, start another thread.
Only reason I actually posted in this particular thread is I wanted to discover the actual effects pertaining to certain ships and if they still work in a realistic fashion.
Sadly...the majority appears to be point-counterpoint and trying to find hard data on the ships that concern me (Minmatar+Curse...Pilgrim seems irrelevant) is impossible with all the noise.
I would do the test server myself...but have no desire to inadvertently wreck a TQ client that has worked without a hitch for going on 2 years .
But it is also equally hard to resist responding to stupidity as well .
