Poor writing skills. If there was no EVE, it would have sold 0 copies. I'm being very honest about this. Read a good SciFi book like something by Heinlein...then read this garbage and you'll see. Thanks for hyping it up when in fact it's a horrible waste of time kiddie book.

I recall recently reading posts where hundreds of people, whom are also versed in scifi, really enjoyed the book, myself included. My complaint was about the horrible editing, not the author. You say read Heinlein. I have. Heinlein is an accomplished master of his genre, and his books are superior to just about anything else. This was Tony's first novel. I think it was a great accomplishment, and a great read. Definitely not an 8th grade level. But as I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am sorry you didn't enjoy it. But saying that we don't have any other EVE novels so... I'll read and enjoy it for what it is. An EVE book does have to capture a wide audience so its difficult to pitch I guess. I mean look at this thread, I surprised there weren't any pictures in it with the words printed underneath. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig

Criticism is the catalyst for improvement, as someone probably once said at some point. I'll set aside the presumption that this thread is a trollfest for the moment if the OP gives some specific reasons that the Empyrean Age book contains poor writing skills and such. You can include spoilers. I don't read anything that's essentially novel-length fanfiction anyway so you won't be ruining anything for me.

And seeing the books used in a bunch of college courses about 'literature', I can safely say that my opinion of a book or piece of art is based almost completely off of gut reaction.
