...and your buddies suddenly scream over vent "OMG, UNDOCK! TARGETS JUMPING IN!!!", what happens? Do you just click undock and poof, you're undocked in your ship ready to go? Or do you have to run down a hallway(s), get back to your berth, change clothes, hop in your pod, plug your pod into your ship and *then* undock?
And who gets to watch the Gallente female pod pilots while they're removed from their pods and covered in lube from head to toe?

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 07/08/2008 20:51:55 Instant undock would be lame and a half. If you want to enjoy ambulation you have to balance it against a corporate need to be at the ready for undocking quickly (as would be the case in war.) So in other words if the FC says stay in the ship fitting screen and don't walk around in the station, then stay in the fitting screen and don't walk around in the station.

The way the devs spoke of it (see the Questions for Eris thread in this forum), they don't want an instant disappearing act. There will be convenient elevators all over the place, so docking is just a quick walk away.
Will that mean you will actually have to walk your character? Or does that mean that if you go LD or undock, your character walks to it by themselves? Will the actual release be anything like what they've discussed? No clue.
So you want security? That's perfectly alright. But you should be willing to trade freedom and profit for that security. |

Hilarious what if scenario. Can imagine suddenly a table or two in a busy bar suddenly are empty and the occupants are barging out of the room like no tomorrow to get back in their ships.

I seem to remember that either during one of the fanfest presentations that the devs said that in order to leave ambulation, you'd actually have to get to the hangar - no fading out or disappearing. If you logged out in ambulation, your character would just get up and walk to his/her ship. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

In order to be drunk in game you must:
1. Purchase the white wolf USB breathalizer. 2. Blow into the breathalizer.
The server will then calculate (after 20 second lag) your blood alcohol IRL then apply the following effects based on intoxication level :
Negative = <tracking loss> Positive = <somthing booster related>

While this thread may have had lulz as its intention, standing or sitting around in station and suddenly having a nearby group of pilots run for the door would add quite a bit of atmosphere.
More than, say, a name disappearing from a guest list while you sit looking at your ship. -

Can I add a small twist? Good.
Your in your ship flying around and you hear over vent - Quick Dock, Bar Fight!
Do you dock and run down the hall or do you call 911?

Well, this was a point I intended to make a while back, but with Ambulation wouldn't the whole "Cybering" thing be taken to a new level with realistic avatars walking around, inviting people to ships for some "One on one" time? Or am I just weird?
As for your initial point, I just wanna say "Lets get the **** out of here!"
