Edited by: thisisnotanalt on 16/08/2008 02:34:34 Most of you arn't interested in the crime. But for those of you who are and are willing to act upon the information I lay out in front of you, here is the story:
A few days ago, my brother was almost put off of EVE completely. He was doing a lvl 4 mission in a nice lvl 4 raven that he had just purchased not too long ago. Davlin Lot'ze and his alt scanned him down and promptly began looting his wrecks during a hot misson, my brother fired upon him (yes, you will say this was a dumb thing to do), Davlin escaped and came back in a warp scrambling torpedo raven, fitted specifically against kinetic and thermal damage (see, he only chooses Gurista missoners), demanded 100M ransom, was told to forget it, reduced to 40M, 4M was paid (a zero was missed) and without a beat Davlin began firing on him. Based on the events and behavior of this lowlife, Davlin was not going to honor ransom.
EVE is a dynamic game that allows a myriad of different styles of game play, to simplify it: there are two styes, those who want pve hang around high sec space and those who want the pvp interaction to head to low sec or null sec. It is a shame that this is allowed to happen to someone just trying to enjoy the pve aspect. Below is intelligence I have gathered on this lowlife.
Davlin Lot'ze Inhibitor Corporation (what a rip out of Alastair Reynold's novel, no originality here) No alliance affiliation http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/pk/view.php?type=player&name=Davlin+Lot%27ze Known to frequent lvl 4 mission hubs, last seen in Umokka, is logged in around this time period 07:00 to 22:00 EVE time.
Known Alts: Lester Nyxian Also of Inhibitor Corporation http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/pk/view/player-Lester+Nyxian-kills.html Last known docked is Umokka X, M4, Caldari Navy Testing Facility, also logged in same time as main.
Ethan Fletcher Also of Inhibitor Corporation and Federal Defense Union (FW Milita) http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/pk/view/player-Ethan+Fletcher-kills.html#show Has also seen in the Umokka system, also logged in as same time as main.
Inhibitor corporation is a 3 man corpration composed of Davlin and his alts only. Corp headquarters is based in Duripant VII, Moon 6, Federal Navy Academy School. I have included links to battleclinic killboards so that you may peruse his ship fittings and strategy.
If you feel moved by this or simply want assasination practice, or just want pvp experience, pod Davlin Lot'ze and his alts. Repeatedly, and when you are done. Pod him again. Of course, a frozen corpse or two would be welcome. Just contract it to me so I can hang it for all to see.
Regardless if he gets podded or not. At least his name is plastered out there for everyone.

long post, let me sum it up for the people just getting here:
missioner aggresses ninja looter and then gets owned by ninja looter returning the favor. Butt hurt brother looks to C & P for pity. Fails.

Heres a tip: Don't try to PvP in a PvE ship. If you must kill the looters then come back when you are fitted to fight
Otherwise don't come crying to us. I you don't want people ninjaing your loot then bring a frien to salvage as you go (or hire somone) or do the collection yourself as you mission. -So says Xindi Kraid

1. People do not simply "miss" a zero when their ship is on the line and being pounded through structure.
2. No one is going to do anything about this if you won't (unless you hire them).
3. Owned.

No-one will avenge your brother.
Your brother was protected by CONCORD. Your brother decided to engage in combat. Your brother lost.
If you decide to fight, there's always the chance that you will lose your ship. If he wasn't prepared to lose his ship, he shouldn't have started fighting.
If he quits EVE over this incident, then he probably isn't suited to the game. Hopefully, he has learned something from this encounter, and that experience will be useful to him if he continues to play. |

way to go, your brother should stop crying, HE AGGRESSED HIS KILLER, all he had to do is ignore him and he would have he lost a bit of salvage and lewt.

Broad assumptions being made here.
Re: Protected by CONCORD... the criminal flagging system is broken. It is essentially the Wild West. CONCORD only reacts against unprovoked aggression, not pre-meditated aggression. Case in point:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=846397
A bigger part of this story is change is needed for stealing penalties (not salvaging), esp in high security space. It is high security space afterall...
Re: Avenging.. who said anything about unpaid work. I don't see it in my OP, it isn't mentioned. This is just one approach I have taken. I am pursuing other avenues of "avenging." I leave it at that as I'd like you lowlife mission gankers to keep your false sense of security.
BTW please read what I posted. Lots of you trollers and flammers are stating the obvious. You can read... right?

Your brother WAS protected by CONCORD. He lost that protection when he started shooting.
Regarding the link you posted - note the countermeasures that were explained to prevent this tactic from working. If the OP of that thread had been aware of the mechanics, he would have been able to escape(not that you can expect everyone to be aware of those countermeasures, of course)... also the OP of that thread grabbed a ship and returned to start fighting - that's what got his ship killed. He (like your brother) could have decided not to shoot, and wouldn't have lost a ship.
If you decide to attack a thief, then you must accept that the fight may not go your way. |

Posting in upcoming classic thread.
All game mechanics working as intended.
Not only does Mission Runner initiate hostilities by firing upon peaceful "Mission Cleaner", Mission Runner tries to scam Mission Cleaner after a mutually agreeable ransom had been negotiated.
Mission Runner would have happily vaporized Mission Cleaner's ship, but now cries to bro after being destroyed as a consequence of his attempt to scam the peaceful "cleaner".
Give your bro a hug from all of us. ---- Train more. Whine less.

The only thing I see wrong with this situation is that the attacked looter maintained his aggression timer after changing from a bait/scanning ship to bookmark a site where he could come back immediately in a PvP-ready warp-scrambling battleship. If I'm wrong about this, please correct me. It would seem that removing aggression timers when changing ships being in either a station or dead space would eliminate this "hidden" aspect of bait-switch tactics. It should be apparent that the ISK that can be made using these tactics would far outweigh the total possible earnings of missions through dropped items in the victims ship as well as the remaining loot of the mission site.
Seems much in-line morally as can flipping, although as of now its legality can not be challenged.

I have a sad sad story to tell. I once had an alt which I used for "cough" mining, he was a peacefull little miner and enjoyed the player vs veld aspect of eve in hisec. Then one day I came along and stole my alt's ore off him. He then went to take it back which was a silly mistake but being an all peace loving little noob my alt was he didnt know what he was getting himself in for.
He died and I smacked my alt in local like a proper mean bastard. If this has touched any of you "not in a special place kinda way", then please please pod me over and over again and teach me a great frikkin lesson.

Can I laugh at you for being naive? If you shoot a small ship and it runs away, HE IS PROBABLY GETTING SOMETHING BIGGER!
Does it take that much brain-power to figure that out and warp to a semi-safe area (Say, in docking range of a station) or bring in your own support?
I didn't think there were that many people that would shoot and stick around long enough to let me go switch into a BS to fight them with... Now I know and will be doing it regularly. ------------ CCP > Let's play the nerf a race game! Next up minmatar! |

If he wants to do missions without other players coming and disturbing him and dont want to have any interaction with other players there are a multitude of single player games out there for him with alot of missions. Ive heard Mass Effect is good.
