edit: also consider 3x range rigged pulse apoc.

As always it depends on how likely you are to be disturbed.
The more hostile the turf is the higher the incentive is to fly something agile (like a HAC).
And no. The Armageddon ratting fit is not a very good PvP fit. Even with maxed out cap skills the PvP geddon doesn't have enough cap recharge to rat effectively as you need a couple of CCCs, CPRs or Cap Rechargers to power the lasers, repairer and the constant jumps. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. The paladin obviously...marauders in general. Its got good enough tank for any 00 Rat spawns, salavging speed out the wazoo and hits like a truck

Would think geddon or zealot. Being able to get around the belts quickly is a big deal for ratting.

zealot: Good dps, good survivability vs roamers.... no spare high for cloak. No ammo.
Geddon: better dps, slightly better range, (15-45km vs 10-30km) can fit cloak or neut in last high. Insurable
Apoc: Good dps over great range, no spare high (unless you lose dps). Insurable
personally? Zealot, for the maneuverability.

Personally I love ratting in a Pilgrim, but thats cause it makes getting in and out of 0.0 so dam easy
It easily tanks enough, DPS is a little low but can take down any rat I've come up against.
But if you have access to the space you intend to be ratting in I guess a HAC would be a better choice, I wouldnt go near BS's cause they're just too dam slow. -----------------

Personally, I like ratting in a harbinger if the goal is to just kill the rats and get the bounties.
If/when I actually want to loot/salvage I use an eos instead, but the closest Amarr equivalent would be the apocalypse. 5 medium drones, 3 heavy drones, 2-4 lasers, and 2-3 tractor/salvage pairs. Small tank, MWD, cap regen mods, and some cargo expanders and you can do some pretty heavy duty looting/salvaging. Just be sure to fly safe since you'll be a barely mobile brick. ____________________

I'd be tempted to use a beambaddon tbh. Scorch gets expensive, hehe, and the beambaddon can still put out pretty respectable DPS. Worth considering at least.

Edited by: achoura on 18/08/2008 11:46:17 Geddon is hands down the cheapest dps machine ever, if you don't mind the speed making both getting caught easier and taking longer to actually find he rats to make is.
Sac, will happily kill and rat, best amarr ship for ratting non em/thr even if it eats ammo like no tomorrow. Actually this thing will happily rat in my pvp fit, something the others won't if you want them to be truly effective ratters.
Zealot, superb for em/thm, mine only has 4 turrets fitted (+cloak) but it does 520dps, is totally cap stable with the rep; so stable in fact that i can cycle the mwd 4/5 times before i need to shut it off. You do need to use ts hs to make it fit although if the ratting grounds are safe, you could always replace the cloak with another gun and pass 600 (very agile)dps easily - it's only good against sanshas mind, bloods will neut you. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
