yeah speed nerf mainly, everythings slower, doenst affect ammar cladari much, therefore these races are good.
Missiles are apparently getting nerfed while ammar will most likely remain un-nerfed. Hence the indirect "ammarian boost"

Medium lasers had their tracking increased recently and base armour EM resists were lowered.
Lower speeds means active tanking becomes an option again, something Amarr excel at.
Lower speeds also means that turrets will have an easier time hitting that orbiting ship, Amarr have an abundance of turret ships. This applies to all turret ships to some extent though, lasers just have a higher optimal making them benefit more from it.
Lower speeds means that drones will have an easier time getting to and staying with their target. Gallente have an abundance of drone carriers .. wait, what was I writing agin?
Speed changes will first and foremost remove the twitch aspect from many battles. Hitting the web button in the right fraction of a second will be no more. And good riddance, the silly twitch crap belong on the consoles and in FPS games!!!

Recent Amarr boosts: - Pulse tracking - EM resistance - Khanid Mk II - Apoc - Zealot/Omen
Soon to come Amarr boosts: - Nano nerf
The nano nerf boosts Amarr and Caldari in a myriad of ways, but some of them are: - Zealot/Sacrilege/Curse fall back on "traditional" Amarrian roles - Pilgrim is boosted via scram boost/web nerf - Mid-Long combat becomes much more common (it's hard to get ships out to you for tackle/warp) - HP buffer tanking becomes more important (Amarr/Caldari = Resist bonuses, which helps this)
Nerfs to other races: - Speed (Minnies have no other role to run to, so to speak) - Web (Blasters can no longer effectively deal damage even in their best ranges) - Missiles (They're being "rebalanced" so that they're not as effective)
Well, that's a short list anyway.

Ah, alright, so it was what I thought it was, thanks for the replies But, I couldn't help noticing in Liang's post about the pilgrim getting a boost, I mean, that ain't possible, the ship's doomed . But what scram boost/web nerf? I'm pretty sure I know about the web nerf but enver heard of any scram boost. --------------------

The scram boost is that warp scramblers (the 7.5km-11km variety) disable microwarp drives. By all reports, this means that a Pilgrim can use a web/scram and be effective in its old role. Well, somewhat. It's certainly not the solo monster that it was.
Maybe it paid its penance?

They do it just as well as Gallente tbh, but only on ships that have both a resist bonus and a laser cap use bonus, and there's only two of those and they suck (maller/prophecy)
Amarr can active tank perfectly fine but not while really doing anything else of value.
Except on the sacrilege, which is awesome. __________________________________

hmp, to be quite honest i see the galante ships having a rep% bonus, and amarr having a resist bonus.
The active tank bonus lends itself to active tanking(duh), yet the resist bonus shines alot more in a plate fit.
My main point is that amarr have cap hungry weapons (more so than galante unless all 5's) and cap using guns + cap hungry tank = fail.
Look at great amarr ships and you will see all that want to pvp are plate fit.

Cap usage gets a "meh" from me. (BUT CAPLESS = PWN VERTICAL LOLOL) Active tanking in pvp = cap booster, no exceptions. Chances are you will be able to run your tank for as long as you have cap boosters - and though high energy weapons will make you use cap boosters more often, not enough to make a huge difference.
Gallente armor repair amount only lends itself to active tanking obviously, but resistance easily goes both way. You can stuff a lot more resistance on, even to points where if you had a mythical 1 on 1 situation, you wouldn't have to trigger your rep as often (though it would be the same for gallente).

Well, there are some amarrian ships that can handle cap pretty well with both guns + active tank (although it might spice things up a lot if you start to get neuted, especially lots), but some ships like the Abaddon for example, are the phail of the year in active tanking + putting lasers on it, unless you maybe put 2 heavy cap boosters, but IIRC that don't fitt, and you run out of cap boosters pretty fast. --------------------

Guess i have to point out that a ship that does not dedicate its cap to shooting will have more cap to spare for an active tank.
No one can nay-say to that, right? (sorta off the whole Gallente X Amarr thing) Support the introduction of well thought out Amarr solutions!

Depends if you consider that it has lower capacitor to start with. Should capless weapons be a balance consideration? Probably, but not a very large one in today's age of blobs and cap boosters.

Amarr boosts - hmm - where to start? Well - there was the 'boost' patch, which was a nerf on EM armor resistances accross the board - considering the fact that Amarr are Armor tanks, that's quite a boost...
- Then the Omen was boosted - received another turret slot - considering it had grid isssues with one cap slot less, that certainly made it a great ship...
- Then the Apoc was boosted - though compared to an apoc with maxed skills before the 'boost', it's not any better...
- Aparrently soon (tm), the curse will be fixed, mainly by nerfing nanos - so the only viable tank it had will be gone...
- finally - on tuesday, the pilgrim - the longest-time dead recon will be fixed - from the patch notes:
The Pilgrim now displays all turrets correctly.
Yay - can't wait

You're complaining about getting boosts and you can't see why the Apoc is hands down the most powerful battleship in the game?

No, I'm agreeing with you - there aren't a lot of Amarr ships that can actually make use of active tanking, but consider this:
25% more resistances = 33% less damage taken 37.5% more repair amount = 37.5% more repair amount
the resistance bonus is actually only a few % worse than the armor rep bonus for active tanking, and it comes with the additional bonuses of "larger buffer" and "better RR" ability.
Just saying that amarr ships can in fact active tank perfectly well if they want to, but usually there are better options available given their role and weapons. __________________________________

Because non-Amarrians always select EM damage against armortanks? Really. All of the other resists are lower, so the only guy that deals EM damage against an armortank is someone that is stuck with EM damage (or has a significant bonus to EM damage).
Lets see here. That means people using EMP ammo, EM missiles and Lasers. All of those deal 25% more damage with their EM damage. The EM missile damage percentage is 100%, EMP damage percentage is 40% (and you better pray that your minmatar opponent is using EMP instead of Fusion/Hail/Barrage) and the laser EM percentage varies between 50% and 100%.
Yeah. That's a real Amarr nerf when all armor tankers are more vulnerable to weapons almost exclusively used by Amarrians. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |

apoc - hands down best sniper in game (not that good close and personal but thats geddons job) zealot - overpowered
If someone says that "nano nerf will boost zealot" then he is shitty zealot pilot and should go back to flying t1 frigs. ATM zealot can kill any hac in game w/o biggy. No speed tanked HAC will outrun its tracking.
Also EM nerf on armor means that most armor tanks have EM resist as 2nd lowest or lowest resist. Its pretty funny when you see caldari missile spammers using EM missiles because their racial KIN is tanked by most ships now.

That's on T2 armor tanks. T1 armor tanks (such as the ones on battleships or tier 2 battlecruisers) are very often 1-2xEANM+DCU, and thus EM is the highest. Carriers might see tripple-active tanks, but EANMs+DCU is still quite common. Against an Armortank you're almost always better off dealing explosive (the sole exception being Amarrian armortanks). The reason for the EM missile spam is the fact that "1-2 LSEII and no resist modules" is an almost universal setup for nano-ships. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. Funnily enough i always carry kin ammo loaded in sac/cerb while nanoing to counter vagas/rapiers/hugs fast. For other targets you always have time to change ammo type (ok maybe not for zealot coz it can kill you WAY too fast) but vs minnie ships proper damage type often means difference between i live and i die.

Well look away from blobs and cap boosters, this is theory craft: an armageddon uses almost as much cap as a large armour rep just shooting.
Even if you have a tiny bit less cap per sec(the difference is minor) on the capless weapon ship, you will still almost have the ability to run a rep for the same "cost" as the energy weapon ship pays to fire.
So you still have a active tanking advantage on a capless ship.
just saying.

Yup.
I generally only carry around 2 damagetypes on my Missile Boats these days.
Only use Kinetic on ships with a Kinetic bonus, like the Drake, along with EM.
On ships like the Raven with an ROF bonus, I tend to only carry EM+Explosive as almost all conventional setups are going to be weak to one of them...
I can't even remember the last time I loaded Thermal.

I love how everyone keeps talking up how overpowered lasers are when everything has 50% base resist to it and even worse with the matari ships having 60-70 base resists to em and up to 90% em resist on their t2 ships. You don't see that sort of discrepancy with shield exp/kin resistances. If you hate lasers so much fly matari... oh wait everyone already is :O
