I don't like to salvage, but I would like to have someone salvage for me.
I could pay them a percentage of what they salvage and I know they could steal from me, but does anyone think there's actually pilots out there who would salvage for someone else?

Theres always a few trust worthy people out there. I would start by seeing if your corpmates will do it for you. Or recruit a newbie to follow you in your corp. ----

Edited by: Gorki Andropov on 09/09/2008 00:37:07 This is just my opinion obviously, but I'm rather of the opinion that hiring someone to salvage your crap is somehow slightly demeaning...it's as if you can't be bothered to do it yourself.
Of course, you'd be paying them a percentage - but how much? And, if you got a corp newbie to do it, how much payment would it take to differentiate their position between valuable team member and tea boy

If I am not going to salvage and there is a salvage thief ****ing off the locals, I usually contact the salvage thief in local and give him my bookmarks. I endorse anyone that can stir up so much crap in local doing something so benign.

Salvage can be quite a lucrative profession.
I don't think a new character will have the skills required to salvage straight out of the box but a few weeks or a couple of months might be enough.
I don't know what your corp base is like so if you haven't got any one willing or able to do it for you, ask in local and only fleet up so they can warp to you AFTER you've taken the loot out, or do you want them to do that as well?
And will they be keeping what they salvage and paying a fee to you, or is this free for salvagers? Just how much do you value salvage, because if you valued it highly enough you'll fit a destroyer with tractor beams and salvager mods and do it for yourself, on the other hand....
Having taken a breath I'll end on the note that it is a multi-player game. If you don't like doing something there are people that will do it. The terms you'll have to sort out - but with salvage you'll never know if they're keeping the 4 tritanium alloyed bars for themselves and giving you the cheap stuff or what. Personally if a new character CAN shield rep a squad, loot and salvage they're welcome to join any mission all night.
Life is about memories the more the better.

Well, I've gotten to the point where I just run mission after mission (when I'm mission running) and don't salvage at all, so if I had someone who wanted to salvage and was willing to give me something from it, I'd benefit and they'd benefit, it's just I personally couldn't see anyone wanting to just salvage.
Which is why I was asking if it was likely someone would do this.

If you run "misson after mission" why not start an alt account with the many ISKs you must have and salvage on that?
If you spend a bit of time training a few combat skills you could be running missions in half the time AND collecting the loot and salvage.

Yeah, of course they do...But seeing as they only work against minmatard ships, their use isn't well known.

There are lots of people out there that will salvage behind you just to keep the salvage. I've made about 100 million in about 2 weeks salvaging, that goes a long ways for a new player! Help a noob out and let them make a little money by cleaning up the trash!
As a new player, I have found salvaging to be the best way to make isk's with the smallest time training and equipment expenses.

I would think you would have them pay you, rather than pay them to salvage, mainly for that they can just take w/e they want
like 1 mil per mission is rather reasonable for level 4s. can make quite a bit more than that in loot/salvage.

Heck, my alt flew a BC with some decent drone skills. She was pretty useful to salvage behind a mission runner, because if you ever got in a real pinch, out came the pwndrones and you watch the pops.
Fun times. And definitely worth you paying me to salvage, if I cover your butt with a rack of heavy drones on assist.

Or repair bots shoring up the tank. But yeah, I've done time paying people to clean up behind them. Once I demonstrated to the corp rookies that this was a good isk making activity I'd then push them into it more regularly. (I encourage self-sufficiency so that I don't have to help them so much!)

Newbies can make something like 2-3 mil per hour, so if you can offer them moar ISK I am sure that some of them would gladly sign up.

In my slightly earlier days i had a deal going with a few corp-mates where i would salvage and loot for them on lv 3-4 missions and I, in return, would get my part in standing increases/bounties, as well as any modules/items i had an immediate use for. Worked out just fine for all of us. Boosted my income quite a bit compared to the lv. 1-2s i could do at the time

What the devil? Don't be ridiculous lol...all I'm saying is, you're essentially paying for someone to take care of garbage - how much do you pay them? ;)

I'd recommend setting a flat rate for the right to salvage your mission. You get income you wouldn't get normally, and they can't exactly cheat you that easily.

Would you consider a contract along the lines of a flat rate of x M ISK per mission for full loot/salvage rights?
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

If anyone is interested in "Salvage Retrieval Services", and you're located in Dodixie, Motsu, Gulfonodi, Saila or surrounding systems, look for "Suddenly Ninjas" (Corp Ticker: "Y0INK") and ask.
More often than not, we'd be more than happy to be asked to salvage your Mission, for a negotiated fee. A bookmark or fleet warp is sometimes easier than scanning you down, and usually costs a lot less.

I know a few peeps that offer such service. They charge 33/50% of total salvage, though. Loot is yours. They only offer the service if you are not in a NPC corp.

We are contract company only (meaing we deal with you directly before missions start), we do not scan mission runners down and salvage without asking.
