Originally by: CCP Wrangler This change affects all systems currently, but I'd like to emphasize that this is a temporary fix, not a permanent one. Creating a better solution is top priority and we're working very hard to make it, test it and deploy it in the very near future.
Very near future is like soon, only without the trademark.
Email me when the game is fixed.
Fail on an epic scale.
In fact, don't even think about billing me until it is fixed.

Edited by: Avon on 21/09/2008 14:55:47 ITT Wrangler doesn't realise Eve just died.
Added: So when it is fixed are the servers rolling back to today, or is the exploitation of this new (temporary) game mechanic going to be considered legitimate?

Originally by: Kenneth McCoy Sweet jesus christ, it's no surprise the Devs don't take the time to talk to us anymore. All we do is whine, *****, and moan, mocking every single thing one of 'em says, even if they try to inject a bit of humor into the situation.
I'm glad they are finding it funny.
I don't moan when the server has trouble, but I do object to solutions which are worse than the problem.
I'd rather Eve was down than allowed to continue in this crippled state.

What crippled state? My Eve works just fine.
Good for you. It doesn't occur to you, however, that in a competetive enviroment the fact that your Eve works fine gives you a distinct advantage over people who are not in such a fortunate situation?
It would be fine for a group of people to take advantage of another group who can not respond?

Originally by: Gnulpie Or how was it that you laughed and called everyone ***gots and idiots and bandwaggoneers when they tried to kill the BoB capital shipyard and failed because a GM put a cap onto that system so that no backup could jump in and BoB was able to kill 40+ caps?
Where was your whining there that a system cap is unfair? And that it will mean the end of 0.0 warfare?
You know that cap never existed, right?

Originally by: ArmyOfMe first of all, horrible way to do this ccp.
secondly, i find it rather amusing that BOB members are complaining so much over this since there was not a single bob member that complained when bob's capital shipyard was attacked and someone at ccp put a cap on that system so most attackers wasnt able to jump in. its funny to see how fast some ppl forget what they have said once it turns against them
As I pointed out previously, that cap never existed. Go back and check the threads from the time.

Originally by: CCP Explorer The maximum population in the solar systems on that node was well below the cap.
Is this confirmation that it is a node cap, not a system cap?

No, this is not such a confirmation.
Is that a denial then?
Don't mess around Wrangler, we are already annoyed enough without you trying to be clever and hiding behind semantics.
What is the cap? Does it apply to individual systems, or the node that they are running on?
If you don't know, say so. If you aren't allowed to tell us, say so.
All we want is a little honesty, transparency, and respect. Is that too much to ask?

I'm sure that CCP would rather see posts from people who care, rather than be faced with the silent depature of their playerbase. I'm not posting because I hate Eve, but because I love it.

Oh the irony! Wasn't it you that posted about the system cap that never existed when BoB's cap yards were assaulted?

Maybe you can explain then the dev blog by Oveur from 30. Aug 2006 where he stated that there is a cap of "...700 people in a single solar system. We haven't hit that yet..." and that was 5 months before the attack on the shipyard in F-T which happened at end of March 2007.
So you say such a cap never existed and that Oveur talked crap in that devblog?
Funny ... not. Take your **** elsewhere!
There was no system cap in place during that battle. Go back and read the threads from the time (assuming you can work out when that was, your ability at counting months seems somewhat lacking), it was discussed in detail back then.
I was there in a dread (on an alt).

You know, strange as it may seem, you calling me a dork somehow loses its edge when you do it on an internet chatboard. Still, if personal insults help you get through the day, you go for it.
As to no alliance mustering a huge defensive force, ask LV how they think things would have gone with a system hardcap to help defend their home, rather than people being allowed to jump in regardless, and eventually gain the upper hand and win.
Still, I'm sure the Science and Trade Institute run great courses on 0.0 life, and so you probably know far more about it than me.
