You have silenced roughly 17% of the active voters in this CSM election. If CCP gives even the slightest interest in fairness there will be either another round of elections or at the very least the 10058 should be allowed to recast their votes amongst the people in the running.
You did what you thought was right in banning Mittens and removing him from the CSM. Now do what's right in ensuring I'm not disenfranchised by your actions. |

I agree with this. The candidate that got 17% of the votes cast has been removed. There should be a new election.

democracy: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. |

Reposting in this thread since there's two on the same subject right now. I'm sure one will be closed eventually, but until then...
That's not how it works. If a President is impeached and removed from office, they don't just hold a new Presidential election right then and there. There's an order of succession, and that's what will take over.
I can understand feeling disenfranchised right now. The person you voted for, and who won in what can only be described as a massive landslide, will not in fact be holding the position he was elected to. It seems unfair. Unfortunately, that's how the process works.
When you make a choice that doesn't work out for you, you can't just suddenly demand to do it over with new options. You have to live with the consequences of your choice. You chose a person who later committed actions that caused him to be removed from office.
Such is life. |

Indeed, The Mittani is not a president - he is (was) a member of the CSM. This is essentially a By Election; nothing more.

I know I made the first 2 posts in this thread and if you take them literally it sounds like I hate goons but I seriously don't at all. Having said that, the '17%' weren't ignored but you had your golden ticket and his unfortunate choice of humour has cost you all. Blaming CCP for his indiscretion seems short-sighted.

CCP did not remove him. Just gave a 30 day ban. The Mittani resigned from the CSM as he said he would. In fact, he honored all three of the steps he said he would.
In democratic elections, if for any reason a winning candidate cannot serve, there is no re-vote.

And yea, verdict was light. Did you vote? Do you understand what a democracy is? In case you're a sub-literate drooling internet dweller than never reached the basic standards required to understand participatory government, here's a definition. democracy: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. And by kicking The Mittani out of the CSM they are ignoring over 17% of the active voters in the entire process. I have no illusions about Mittens being on the CSM. He's gone. However in situations like this what should happen is a recall election. Let me cast my vote elsewhere. Two Step is likely to get one of them just for being a chill space bro. Lets look at the american way... you can win the pop vote and still lose... why... because the electoral college was put in place to prevent the people from making a bad choice LOL... LOOKS LIKE RL WORKING FINE IN EVE... ccp has removed the players bad choice. Oh my, someone doesn't know how the electorate works. |

Yes but the point is built off of a completely wrong analogy. The CSM has more in common with a "House of Commons" or Parliamentary based system, in most of those systems if the elected official gets killed or arrested there is a temp to step in his place until another emergency election can occur.
In a presidential election you don't elect the president. You elect the President AND his Vice. If tomorrow Obama decided to go out and mow down people in Tysons corner for standing in the entrances too long: his vice president would take over. I wouldn't be disenfranchised, because a person I voted for is still in place.
I wouldn't mind seeing future CSM's run with an alternate for each CSM however. For instance we would have voted for The Mittani and his second _______. WIth the understanding that The Mittani would go to all functions and coach his sub in case he couldn't act.

Ah. Being from the U.S, I am unfamiliar with such a process. And while I agree there needs to be some sort of system in place for stuff like this, I don't think having a second is the way to do it. Just have whomever gets the second amount of votes be the "stand in" in case someone "Mittani's" their CSM position. |

Generally we have what is called a by election if an MP is unable to do their job anymore for various reasons. Until that point the seat remains empty, that is why by elections can be rushed in the case of a sudden death as it is a short period of time.
If it involved a resignation or say for example declaring bankrupty then they tend to have enough time to inform their party and so the other parties and so a more orderly by election can be held.
If a by election was ran, Mit would have to be barred from it, for obvious reasong. Though in the next cycle he would be free to stand again. |

Last I heard, CCP was claiming 400,000 subscribers, 10,000 would be 2.5% of that. And yes I read it, you can put political spin on anything to make it seem important, but 97% of the population could care less about your poor deposed Queen.
I wonder how many he would have gotten if CCP instituted a one year minimum age for voters?
How about it CCP, can't really fix it now, all those Alts have already been bought. What you should have done is required all subscriptions that wanted to vote be older than 1 year, and the account active during the entire year preceeding it. At least then we might have had a possibility of a non-rigged election that couldn't be easily bought with Moongoo.
Still wondering what happened to the Goons Forum Champions? The really loud ones seem to have all disappeared at the same time? Something up?

Not mine, sorry to disappoint. I am not a Goon and have no desire to join SomethingAwful to become one. You are missing the key point - people are talking about the VOTERS. Not those that chose not to vote. That is where the 17% number comes from.
However, if you look at it over characters instead of voters then yes, the percentage is much lower although none of us know the actual subscription numbers. But they do not care enough to vote so what happens in the vote does not impact them. Ignore them. |

Attributing motive like that makes me think your name is either appropriate or you are just trolling. I am not a Goon. I did not vote for The Mittani or any Goon. I voted for T'Amber on all my accounts bar one, because I liked his policies. And one went to Issler for promising to focus on conflict in EVE Online.
However, I believe with the removal of a member of House (CSM) by CONCORD the current CSM is invalid and does not have a mandate anymore as 17% of the voters have lost their candidate. I would personally like to see a re-run and would vote for the same candidates as before; but I do not like to see a scenario where such a large percentage of the vote is wasted.
That seems fundamentally unfair to me, irrespective of who the candidate is. I do not hold a grudge against the Goons nor will I discriminate against them simply for who they are and what they represent. |

Yeah the thoughts of non voters is immaterial. It doesn't matter what they want. And they have no interest in how the game is run beyond what is directly in front of their noses at any rate.
He's using idiot fuzzy math and logic to attempt to skew a result to sound less favorable to his side of the argument. It's not a matter of that huge percentage of players not caring about The Mittani. That huge percentage didn't care about the CSM as a whole. Thus their views on what is going on in the CSM right now is irrelevant.

Attributing motive? what post are you reading? , its a comment on thought processes not motivation and an observation of the goons displaying what they like to provoke in others which they have amply demonstrated in the past many times over.
TOS read it, he-¦s kucky to still have an account, you cant rewrite the past just live with it, Mittens removed himself by his actions, its quite simple, now stop trying to troll me and the community.

Even if you removed the Goonswarm Federation from the table that still leaves you with 4000+ voters that aren't being heard anymore, assuming every member of our alliance voted (Hahahaha I doubt we even got 60%)
I'm not entirely sure that there is another Goon in the running, and if there is he likely isn't the kind of person that could garner the respect of 10,000.

That is well said. It is not about Goonswarm and people should not let their dislike of the Mittani or the Goons cloud their judgement on what has essentially become a tainted election. No disrespect to the current CSM; I do believe you will all get in again on the same merit you got in on before.
But I would like to put this whole mess behind us and move on with a CSM that has been elected by all the people that care enough about EVE and the direction it is going in to vote. Until that happens, I can't see the CSM as legitimate or representative of the people that vote. In no electoral system would you remove 17% of the voters and still see the governing body as being representative. It is just simply unfair - and people will see that if they remove their anti-Goon blinkers.
P.S. You guys did have another candidate, Lyris Nairn Skycaptain of our hearts. Placed second from the bottom or somewhere around there with a number of votes for her avatar |

The 10 k votes were not "a democratic election" Well maybe a precentage of them, the rest= Accounts that were no older than 30 days (which means, *drumroll* alts)
Now we can all conspiracy'ise (yes i invented that word just now) , that the "alts" were most likely plexed goonzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
*puts on serious face* If I remember correctly about 6k'ish of the votes were from the "no older than 30 days" accounts, can't remember what the devblog said.
So that would be roughly (kind numbers) 4k legit votes, and 6k "fake" votes.
In any case, To much Drama on all sides for my tastes.

30 - 8,447 250 - 8,489 ... 2500 - 2,073 3000 - 943
It is an artificial bump though as an account must be 30 days old before it can be used to vote. I missed out on one, as I had to create a new account to get another old character training. Could not vote.
I can't agree on the point that they all represent "fake" accounts. Note the distribution of accounts. It matches what you would expect of a MMO - heavy towards the lower end of account age and lighter towards the upper end. Natural behaviour and patterns in player retention after trials, burnout, etc.
There will be some, but to claim that 6,000 votes came from "fake" characters? Long bow. A very long bow I think.
But I guess whatever spins your story. |

So the CSM Chairperson has the same powers as a president? Actually, no. So about 50% there. Then, let's consider there are other democratic system apart from what the United States of America uses and there is a variety of different mechanisms for dealing with this. As has been suggested before, a By-Election type system works as well in many democratic countries where a member of the electoral group is removed, dies or otherwise are unable to complete their term. |

I highly doubt CCP is going to allow another vote since there's already a procedure in place to resolve this situation.
http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/devblog/CSMSummary.pdf
Before entering office: Quote:If a candidate is unable to fulfill these requirements, the candidate with the next highest vote tally will be given their position. This process will continue until there are a total of nine Representatives and five Alternates.
After entering office: Quote:Should the Chairman step down as such or as a Representative, a vote is to be held to appoint a new Chairman with all Representatives eligible for the position.
Quote:Each player council of Representatives and Alternates lasts for twelve months, beginning one week after the declaration of election winners.
CSM7 will take office on April 4th, and their first order of business will be to decide upon the vice-chair, secretary and vice-secretary positions.
http://community.eveonline.com/council/voting/votingResults.asp
Since CSM7 hasn't officially taken office yet and the CSM6 is still active, they are all still considered Candidates and as such, the candidate with the next highest vote tally will move up and the process will continue until there are a total of nine Representatives and five Alternates.
That means Two step will be the Chairman with Meissa Anunthiel becoming the 9th Representative and Korvin will move up to the 5th Alternate spot from the list of Candidates due to their vote tally. |
