Although it is sad to say goodbye to the WildCat issue CNR, and the 30km/sec machs, I absolutely love the idea of a nano nerf!!!! Can someone please link a summary of it? Or if any devs are around can a scripture of the meeting be posted please?
Thank you, WildCat

I'ld like to get it too :P tried to post a small summary for my corp but I think it's wrong and uncomplete, furthermore it's in german. Maybe it's because they spoke to fast for me and maybe because one of them was VERY quiet and got a east-european "english-dialect".

It only lasted ~30 mins and pretty much all of it was repeating the same stuff from the normal dev blogs.
"We will nerf mwd/webs"
"We rock, we know" type stuff. __________________

As far as I heard :
- Ship agility is being tweaked - Missiles are being looked at, something about sig radius to speed calculations - The new scrambler will disable MWD's - Webs will be getting their effectiveness reduced, and maybe the stacking penalty removed - Assault frigs will be boosted by these speed changes (theoreticaly) - Jump capable ships (I think all) will be getting a fuel bay, black ops especially (maybe something about cynojammed systems and black ops in the pipes)
Can't think of more atm, wait for a transcript
Originally by: Allisie In a recent interview, a dev mentioned that ships and skills cause lag and will be removed in EVE 2.

basically gallante more ****ed, train amarr
i mean ishtar- no tank, only speed
If a amarr bs can hit a ishtar doing 6k/sec now how it gonenr hit when its going 1.5k/sec? blaster boats need range close up, no mwd, or slowed range even harder to dictate get into...

Well.. Sounds like I was smart to start cross-training Amarr when this crap started being talked about... since as usual the lovely CCP Dev's didn't listen to any input for crap.
The really funny part is I didn't have a damn bit of a problem with Nano's... easy to take care of if you have half a brain. Hell I barely flew anything Nano'd since I fail miserably with them...
Now Blasterboat's (Mega's, Thorax, Hyperion, Brutix, etc) are now a thing of the past thanks to the REALLY dumb nerf to webs (Thanks CCP!)
No I'm not quitting and you can't have my stuff, I'm just going to be flying all my Megas and Navy Megas before happensthis so I can enjoy the end of an era.. cause I won't be around in 2-3 years when they un-nerf it back.
Long Live the Amarr I guess.. the new FOTM

Edited by: Jack Gilligan on 08/10/2008 23:10:11 This isn't good if they didn't make any major changes to the nerf as it was on Sisi, especially if there is NO addressing of the slowdowns of NON speed fitted ships.
Sounds to me like the Devs have fallen in love with their idea and think they know better than we do what game we want.
This is a dangerous mentality for a Dev team to have. It kills MMO's, SWG for one.
My opinions are my own and do not necessarily represent those of my corp or alliance. |

Think the differences are in the areas of :
1, Missile damage will be more dependent on sig radius of the ship being attacked. This will make AB's a more viable option against missile boats.
2, Medium drones look like they will be taking a nerf as they are too over powered.
3, Agility tweaks, but your BS is gonna be slower. This is to differentiate between the ship types. Agility will be calculated BEFORE modules are added to the ships.
4, Implants that have the slots changed will be forcibly removed from your head and placed in cargo hold or home station if there is a conflict in our tiny brains.
5, Defender missiles will be damage boosted (Potentially), but will only attack missiles fired at you due to calculation constraints so cannot be used to protect gang mates.
6, Inconsistant lack of scripts for Web Scrams (duel damage/use) and no plans to add scripts.
7, Tease for black ops pilots that maybe, possibly, potentially they will get the fuel bay and will be the hub for small gang warfare where CCP see mixed gangs of "Specialised" ships (as long as they're cloaky) the way forward.
This is from memory, lots of paraphrasing and of course fully misunderstood

I really hope they sort defender missiles. That would be awsome, esp for tacklers for example. The importance of sig radius is also great and something I have wondered why it hadnt been done earlier. ----------------------------------------- [Video] Support Barrage |

Sig radius reduces missile DPS flat out right now on TQ. In a linear fashion, though.

The impact of sig radius is waaay too small. Heavy missiles should just scratch an inty even if he is not moving all that fast. Torps should not do redicilous amounts of damage on a sitting t1 cruiser. ----------------------------------------- [Video] Support Barrage |

Nothing's changed, they're still working on it - it's not something they can implement as initially planned after they realized the even longer list of things that would need to be changed.
Personally, I believe the only thing they need to change are implants and agility rigs. The rigs weren't around when I first started playing, and things were a lot different.

You got this wrong, the devs bring this BECAUSE we wanted this. Maybe YOU didn't want this, since you maybe used nanos excessively, but WE, the players, highly appriciate that something is done about a broken feature that WE complained about.

They're game designers, not whiny forumers. Yes, they DO know better than you do. SWG was killed because the dev team compromised core design principles and completely dumbed down game mechanics in every measurable way. The EVE equivalent would be making PVP consensual (e.g. it's not gonna happen)

Sigh Once again Ill say in the hope a dev will see sense - this nerf is not needed.
A simple introduction of effective small/medium webber drones is all thats required.
great advantage would be they are *****ble on every ship with a drone bay and its a game addition not a nerf !
off the top of my head nerfing speed as proposed would badly nerf to almost unplayability BS Ships with short range weaponry Hugins+ rapiers Curse Once again (I beleieve this is possibly the most nerfed ship in game) Black ops (the whole class of ships obviously needs their excessive cloaked velocity nerfed to balence them) battle cruisers with short range weaponry Most Mimitar ships (Especialy thoes with a speed bonus (vagabond, panther))
On the plus side the nerf may help contain lag as stationary snipers would equate to less server & client load

Once again a live dev blog proves to be worthless. Don't panic just yet, wait until the final "real blog" comes out or the speed changes come back onto Sisi. Other than that, the live dev blogs are just a bunch of random devs that usually don't know wtf they are talking about. --
