Let's see.... From what I could tell, in the main fleet, there was
28 titans
224 motherships
2800 battleships (armageddons)
560 battlecruisers
The ceremonial guard was between 80 and 100 Abaddons (hard to count the last rows). The personal guard was 12 Apocs and 4 Magnates, with sarum herself in another Abaddon...
Total pilot count - 3.709 in Amarr........ And they say JITA is crowded?

Aritcio, the Kor-Azor heir is quite young for a Holder. I don't remember his exact age, but back when Doriam was made Emperor, he was somewhere around 110. So, Jamyl's physical age would be likely somewhere between 100 and 200. (Yah, right, Amarr have crap tech - but good doctors.)
Also on the note about ships: According to the novel, the honour guard flies all Imperial Apocs. Based on texture (and armament), the Magnates were of the Gold variant, not the T1 astrometrics ones. In addition, on the shot inside the station there were two 6x4 ship formations of Amarr Navy Slicers, making 48 frigates per hangar for unknown amount of hangars total.

Tidy rows, and it looks like there's one hell of a lot of them. The logical formation would have been to form a ball around the station, but then people would just went "nah, Amarr Navy are just frikkin blobbers" instead of "OMG, HOW many titans!!oneoneelven".

Ginger, I would like you to get a verification on that from whoever set them up like that. Although we cannot see every single ship lined up outside, I am guessing that each "block" is similar to the ones we CAN count. And that is
1 Titan
4 Motherships
200 Battleships
40 Battlecruisers
That's 245 per block. 28 blocks x 245 = 6860, plus the Ceremonial and Personal guards lined up in front...

I'm sure it CAN handle 4,000 ships on the same grid that are IDLE, quite possibly not being even controlled by players. The net becomes clogged up when those ships are actually being used. and as for purely handling that many models at once, I honestly think it can. Maybe not on non-high end computers, though.

You know, according to EVE lore, the Jovians have 3 and the Amarr had 2 before one went to the Khanid Kingdom. They put in that many because the concept of Titan is pretty **** now, and they didn't want Amarr to look bad in light of player alliances. But I give it a year before one group has that many. They could have them now, if they were more useful. Even 4000 ships isn't that much. |

You know, according to EVE lore, the Jovians have 3 and the Amarr had 2 before one went to the Khanid Kingdom. They put in that many because the concept of Titan is pretty **** now, and they didn't want Amarr to look bad in light of player alliances. But I give it a year before one group has that many. They could have them now, if they were more useful. Even 4000 ships isn't that much.
Well, the workaround there was also that the official big Empire titans were different than the player ones. Probably the problem is there is no premium graphics model for the 'Empire' titans, so there you go.

Normally most super powers keep their major assets under wraps to avoid giving their enemies a heads up on their capability.
As i have read Empyrean age, i do not imagine that the Amarr Empire has really anymore capital assets than what was shown in in that video. and the Amarr Empire is shrinking Daily in minerals as well as in manpower.
I believe they have shot themselves in the foot but having such an elaborate ceremony in terms of military intelligence.

Meh, look this was pre-arranged, the Minmatar/Thukker incident was unexpected so the fleet was scattered all around. No way to get them all organized and ready when that happened.

...but it is not.
I mean, the Amarr Empire is how many centuries old?
BoB and other pod pilot superpowers got 10+ titans within one or two years, each of them. So 24 titans is not really impressive for such an old and huge entity like the Amarr Empire.
The thing with making bigger and bigger and bigger fleets to get more 'ah' and 'oh' from the audience is just bad. It sets up an upward spiral. The next vid needs even more stuff to impress people, that is bad.

if the minmatar launched a suprise attack, then it would fit, because you cant organize a huge ass fleet like that in 30 minutes o na suprise attack w/ all the confusion and chaos, THIS was planned (/rp on btw) for many months i would think, so it would make sense they could organize it this time, this was the enitre (or most of) that REGIONS fleet correct? if the minmtar launch a suprise attack on ONE system, how the hell are they going to be able to organize their entire fleet to meet that threat quikly enough before mass damage is caused?
why cant people just admire the video, it just saddens me that many people make it their lives to complain about tiny inconsistencies, just use your imagination

IN back story long ago ammar empire was described as having 2 titans, having the 3rd being stolen by Khanid heir when he fled.
That sounded cool back then when ccp din 't expected any alliance to ever have 2 of them. Nowadays if Ammar empire still had only those few titans the question would be why capsuleer alliances didn't took over on it.
Even with that fleet in video. Ammar empire would be no match to for example BOB + AAA combined force. :P

I was a bit disappointed in the video - I thought it was going to be an ambulation video with the lady walking up a guard of honour, and a coronation ceremony in a palace. Instead, it was a fleet of ships. They looked good, of course, and the video was top-notch. Just not what I expected.
I also found it a bit silly how the ships had to form a guard of honour with those little spotlights raised like sabres. Surely that can be left for the actual ceremony in person, and have the fleet just sit there looking awesome? And why did the ships all have to just stay on one plane - nothing up or down, just left and right.

Or are the Amarr ships all clunky old 'bridge-crews' whilst the Gallente and Caldari are all pod-piloted? We know the Gallente are supposed to out gun HethÆs Navy by about 4:1 but still... if the Amarr can muster that in one fleet...

As I understand it the Gallente have been in military decline while Amarr have been busy with rebels and freedom fighters and therefore need to have a large military force. Also Amarr are the he biggest eve race seen to number of systems.
So if the Gallente have 4 times more military forces then the Caldari we should be able to assume that the Amarr are even bigger. And the Amarr strike me as a race the likes to show of their strength and as we can see between our own pod Alliances that means showing of lots of titans.

Am I the only person who sees stuff like this and just... doesn't.. care? It's nice and all but it's got absolutely no basis in or impact on the actual gameplay of EVE. Don't get me wrong, I love EVE but the EVE I play has very little relation to the stories found in the player news centre. There was a time when a lot of the news stories were about actual in-game events, some that players did themselves and some special events organised by AURORA. Am I crazy for thinking of today's storyline developments as inconsequential and fake?

Nope. I found the video awesome for it's fleet-lineup, but story-wise, it didn't give me anything. "Oh, look, there's the new Emperors ship. And a lot of other ships, nice. Now, on with my life in the other end of the univers"...
Talking about this video with a friend and former player, he asked if there was as many players attending as the last coronation. I had to tell him that important events, those that must not be influenced by the players, now either takes place in the fiction alone or "during downtime", which essentially is the same, except we get videoes from the downtime ones. We saw that with the Yulai events and now the coronation. So to him it seemed that CCP has moved away from the approach of us players being able to affect the storyline and I can only say I agree with him. The time where a single player can cause mayhem in the storyline is over. And that's one of the things that can lure people into playing - that they are able to influence the outcome of the story. They still can, just not as easily as in the past

I have to agree with you 100%. I like the stories and the vids, but it seems like I'm watching a TV show and the interaction is one sided. Take faction warfare as an example. Big news about war that would bring big chances. The result? Totally pointless fighting with no actual impact on anything. Even people fighting in it want to bring meaning in to it.
Now I know CCP is just adding extra things for some people and these are supposed to be optional. Easy PvP when you want it with no strings attached. Problem is people want actual consequenses, so why not give them that. They wanted more PvP where you can just log on and join a gang and be pretty much guaranteed to get some good fights. Casual PvP with no higher ups *****ing to you, if you don't log on regular basis or at the times that your corp/alliance wanted you. These things aren't in conflict with bringing consequenses to the actual war. The consequenses don't have to change the face of EVE, but they should at least be meaningful to the people participating.
What I fear is that when we reach the end of EVE at some distant future, all the effort and skill poured in to the backstory didn't mean anything. If huge changes happen in the EVE universe, it should have an actual effect on the capsuleers too. I know we are largely removed from everyday happenings, but massive changes should be visible to us too somehow. I would rather be a part of a living, changing universe than just read about one.
I am optimistic though. The current backstory seems to be at least relevant and focusing on events, that could potentially have real effect in the game. The fact CCP bothers making these videos shows they want to improve things. With the eventual release of ambulation the potential to integrate aspects of the story to the actual universe the players experience should be easier. Or perhaps not, guess I have to wait for the reports from fanfest to see if my hopess are warranted.

The fact that Amarr loyalists were not allowed to attend that, and that it was completely staged and not 'actual ingame footage' takes away from the whole process.
It was also far too short.

Are the Gallente and Caldari Navy's overall, more capital 'heavy' than the Amarr or something? We know the Gallente are supposed to out gun HethÆs Navy by about 4:1 but still... if the Amarr can muster that in one fleet...

Caldari Navy is technologically the most advanced Navy, its size is relatively small compared to the others given it was dominated in their early years by the Gallente. Caldari since shrugging that monkey off their back is I think lore-wise the strongest nation economically and fastest expanding military power, however, they came from a long way back.
Anyway, that is my understanding of the lore.
Eventually, Caldari will dominate all. ;)

At the time, they could have gone one of two ways. Either they were going to redesign in-game events to work on a larger scale (meaning they could design one event for thousands of players and really get their money's worth) or they were going to cancel them all. Unfortunatley, they went with the cheap cancel option. They officially disbanded AURORA and cancelled all current and future plotlines at the time. Since then they've moved to entirely fictional plot with no apparant ties to any in-game events and there seems to be no indication of that changing. Apart from rare news coverage of player-organised events and the faction warfare coverage they had, it's all just fictional stories. The production costs of just writing a story are a lot lower than those of designing and running an in-game event, of course, but it's still really disappointing.

It's a perfectly legitimate complaint. The Caldari suffered almost no losses and the Amarr lost a few million citizens. The Minmatar lost an entire fleet to an "Earth superweapon" that Jamyl quite literally just happened to find lying around - and the fact that she's alive at all completely goes against the entire previous canon of the game. The Gallente have lost sovreignty of a planet in their own home system and just let it happen.
CCP are unfairly favouring the Amarr and the Caldari in the story, and it's damn annoying for Gallente and Minmatar roleplayers. Both the Caldari and the Amarr have suffered no serious military defeats in the past five years, the Caldari supposedly has the technological edge and the Amarr are now revealed to have a fleet of ships for a single region that exceeds the firepower of Goonfleet and Band of Brothers combined. I'd object if that represented a sizeable percentage of their overall fleet. Meanwhile, the novel claims that the Minmatar economy is supposedly unable of producing more than a couple of Titans and a handful of captial ships, and the Gallente are portrayed as unable to muster enough forces to put up any noticeable resistance to attacks on their home system.
It's ridiculous.

THIS. I absolutely cannot stand seeing 'news' when I log in that has absolutely nothing to do with how the game is played. I end up ignoring it, then missing genuine important news, then getting annoyed with meaningless fictional fluff.
Fan fiction is nice, I admire it - in fact, I think it should be rewarded with GTCs by fan votes. Chronicles, videos, news articles about things like the economy of the Minmatar Republic or whatever are a complete waste of time.
As a capsuleer, all I care about is 'does this make space a more or less dangerous place to fly? Can I make ISK off it?'. That's the role I play - a space pilot struggling to get ahead in New Eden. If I can't interact with it, it's not part of my roleplay experience.
I want IN GAME CONTENT. If I want science fiction that's meant to be read rather than played, I go to the library.

For that matter, how come I've been flying around Domain most of my game life and I always see the same NPC ships? Shouldn't I see an Amarr Navy dreadnaught, Titan or something just occasionally, going from A to B on the empire's business? NPCs don't seem to have any life outside missions. For that matter, you'll never learn a new trade route by following an NPC hauler, or...you get the idea.
