What about peoples ignorance of market mechanics: are you going to be reversing transactions made by stupid people trying to use the market to transfer Licenses by selling them far below the current buy orders?
What is going to be your policy on "typos" when trading Licenses?
I am happy with you taking the hardline on it: let natural selection thin the heards. People need to take resposibility for their mistakes.
Along those lines there is no need to lock the items into stations, just provide a warning when undocking with a licenses in your cargo, that it is a stupid idea - ie simply make it contriband like dog-tags, or provide a custom warning if it is not too hard. Then if they undock with it, they have accepted the risks and will need to live with the effects of their choice.
Don't punish the many because of the stupidity of a few.

Since the new ETC will be able to be sold on the market, will it be able to be resold, or is it automatically applied to the account holder on purchase? If it is able to be resold over and over like other market, I see a new potential inflatable market item of epic proportions.

Strange feelings... do not compute.... warm... fuzzy....
He's right. Not much new, but its making a difference to know that the game isn't dying (still ) Months ago it got a bit... worrying - the direction the game was going (random nerfs, unannounced changes etc).
That blog put the feel good factor in again. Makes me want to play... but I got college work to do

Originally by: Mecinia Lua Kinda disappointed.
QR doesn't look so much as an expansion as just some tweaks to things.
In a way it seems to be how SOE promised a Crafter's Upgrade after the Combat Upgrade.....yeah we never got that Crafter's Upgrade...instead we got yet another combat change called the NGE.
For something that was said to be for industrialists, what's up on the features page is kinda disappointing really.
Same opinion here... But I'm not an industrialist. I think it's somewhat poor for them compared to what we (combat pilots) got last 2 years...
Fanfest effect maybe ?
@Oveur : Pink wig ftw Oveur ! Looking forward to see your face on Eve-tv... Dude... Your face !! :)3 -edit- btw gg at nerfing the lag this year ;)
It's always disappointing to have to drop features - and it doesn't matter if that's for another feature or disaster recovery.
I think I can also say that the following expansion will include more meat for our industrial professions, directly and indirectly. After all, war is good for business.
Yes but we have to wait 6 months again.. its getting tiring.. besides what happened to storefronts ? i dont see it on the QR features site.

Yes and we will consider moving this mechanic, as well as others, like shares and so on, when we'd have a system to recieve it all, say, like a stock market and more efficient tools to generaly exchange intangibles.
Good news... no, wait, GREAT news. When can we expect that ? ... If you say Soon™... NO BEER FOR YOU !

Great to have Oveur back! This very clever blog sure did make me smile I still remain confused about the pricing structure of GTC's. You switched to the industry standard of 60 days, but the industry standard is to also have those 60 day GTC's cost the same as a 60 day credit card subscription. I personally think this discrepancy is very odd and deserves a serious re-think by the Powers That Be. Thanks for the fun blog... if you ever are looking for a career change I have a feeling you'd be a great comedic writer.

Nice blog. The 2012 request...is that a hint to the Linux/Mac users on the "official" client that that will be when we get an 'equal' client with premium graphics? hmmmmm?
Q1 2008 is a looooooooooooooooooooooong time ago CCP.
or, thinking on it further, perhaps 2012 will be when Casqade or Lingorm post the blog that should have been up in the linux/mac forums....oh a couple months ago.

It is not automatically applied.
When created it becomes an item in your hangar in the current station. When purchased it becomes an item in the station you bought it at.
It can be applied remotely via the Assets window.

Originally by: CCP Oveur Agile development is also a way to address that in the long term with more best practices, refactoring etc.
Whoever sold you that line needs to be slapped. My first thought on reading that was 'oh dear god no! the humanity!!!'
Agile methods will NOT get you out of technical debt. They are not designed too and, while they have a place in high debt situations (they are GREAT for triage) but long term they will dig you in deeper, not get you out.
Agile methods tend to cause debt when a product is designed to run for more then a couple years. they are great for one-shot products where you can throw away the code base after it goes gold, but long term projects like EvE, they will eventually come back to bite you.
I know they are the 'big thing' right now and a lot of developers swear by them, but having worked on long term game code bases (15 years technical debt including the last 3 years of switching to agile methods).. trust me.. sometimes Big Design Up Front is the only way out of the the hole. The tricky part is, of course, since it is less incremental, getting it past marketing and planning is always tricky (agile methods sell really well to release schedules)

We're still finalizing our policies, it's better to wait till that's done. You create it in the station you want to sell it it and have to use it there as well.
There are a lot of ways to address transport in general, one mentinoned above, another simply removing the restriction but limiting it to stations is a good start in mitigating the biggest risks.
You can activate them remotely though, through assets I believe.
Mant thanks for your answers it will be interesting to see how this pans out its a bit out of the blue

Whilst I like the improvements made to EVE in pure performance terms - stackless IO etc - I cant help feeling just a bit disappointed by this expansion; Im not really sure what it 'expands'.
Sure there are plenty of hints at promised wonders to see at fanfest ('coming soon!'). But I think we've all experienced CCPs version of 'soon'. Sorry to come across so negatively but I just cant get interested in what might be coming in the stupidly distant future.

Just a quick request on the new 30day in-game tokens.
Allow one player/acct to apply the token to another player/acct, specifically an expired player/acct.
If a corp wants to bring back an old friends who no longer plays EVE due to monetary issues would be nice if these 30 day licenses could be applied by an active player to an inactive player otherwise the inactive player must still use the old forum system to get back into game. and that an issue if they don't have sufficient ISK on their account to complete the transaction.
Either that or give expired account players a 30min log in grace period every 3 months to give them enough time to orginase ISK with their corp and buy an in-game GTC
now that you've nuked ghost training allowing people a small free play window every 3 months just to log in and have a look is a risk free way of encouraging them to give EVE another look.

Mmmmm...
Evelopedia used extensively in-game, using MediaWiki as its engine...
Man, you'd better have a ton of developers implementing the new engine for the IGB ASAP, or it will be an epic fail, I tell you. (Guess you know that, but I'm just trying to see if I can getmore information from you ) Really, I'd love to have an idea about which engine you're going to use. Webkit maybe? Presto? or is it Gecko? or you are going to make your own engine? (unlikely.)
Edit: I just read this, which I didn't know:
Originally by: CCP Fear One last thing, the wiki will work using the in-game browser. However, as it isà not as robust as any other browser shall we say, there can't be any edits or changes through the in-game browser. But it will render all text and images quite well, so there is no need to start your browser to search for something as you can do it through the in-game browser.
Damn! Still the same old IGB... /Edit.
One question, will the Background Story be on Evelopedia too? (I guess it will be.) 'Cos I have a nice XML of it which is almost finished, that I can turn to anything you like using XSLT. Unless you already have it there, in which case I'll keep it to myself. Cheers. ----
