yup, that will be it. prolly something like "cncord authenticated" to keep some immersion ;).
You prolly have to validate them at the server, like it is now, before putting them up.
I also expect them, when bought, to be applied to your account immediately so you cant resell them on the market at a higher price. That would be a daunting prospect if they could.

Yeah, i was just thinking that if i want to for example sell someone an extra ETC for cash, how would i check that the code i have is valid so i don't cheat them?
But i guess i have to trust the retailers for giving me a legit code at that point.

Sounds like they can be sold and re-sold: From the blog discussion

The technical aspect is that player will be able to convert 60 day ETC codes into two 30 day "PLEX" tokens (in-game items). The tokens must be created at an NPC station (the current station at the time of conversion) and cannot leave that station. These tokens can be sold on the market and via the contract system (but not through courier contracts). When applied they extend the account by 30 days. They can applied remotely via the Assets window.
So, you buy PLEX token on the market or contracts, THEN apply it when you want. Sounds like you could also re-sell it at that point.

So, if it has to be created in an NPC station, and is created in the NPC station you're in, that kinda removes the 0.0 players whine, as they could just be created in an NPC 0.0 station.

Personally, I think it's time to sell off some time cards before the price plummets.
This could be great for the community, too. What are your thoughts on this new system? Good, Bad?
c/d?
Wishful thinking. If anything this system makes the GTC trade more accessable to the average player. Demand will go up and thus so will price, the question however is how greedy the supplyers are and if they are intelligent enough to know what will happen if they push too much. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

About 3 minutes after the server came back online there was 1 buy order for 100 GTCs at 260m each.
I'm sure the intention there is to lower the price.

Just aplied it ingame, gave myself an extra 30 days and put the other half up for sale in game. works like a charm. Only thing I doubt are the prices some peeps dare to ask for it, 400 mil for 30 days?

.....Do you honestly expect CCP to allow it to get that high. GTC's are a source of income for CCP that the player base can control to a degree. If the income becomes majorly threatened do you honestly believe CCP will just stand by and let it happen regardless of their claims that its a free trade economic approach? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

Please tell me how CCP is going to stop what people from selling it at what ever price?
And I'm not happy that CCP is allowing these items to be scammed.

Yes. If you buy your GTC from CCP, or you buy it via the market from some other guy who bought it from CCP doesn't matter.
If CCP cared about people dropping extra and alt accounts, they wouldn't have removed ghost training, 30 day GTCs and increased the GTC price by 30%.
The USD has gone up about 20% over the last 2-3 months. GTCs follow the USD. Simple fact.

Edited by: EyeCeeYou on 13/11/2008 18:34:26 PLEX's will cause the price of game time to go up.
They do this in two ways.
Primary way: They allow more people to enter the market, because the price for 30 days is less than the 60 days. So, demand goes up as the number of participants goes up. By definition, price goes up as well.
Secondary way: Volume sales. GTC value has no reason to go down since they are easily converted into PLEX, and PLEX increases market. But, GTC is a volume transaction - you have to put more up to get more.
The price of two PLEXs will not be equal to 1 GTC. It will be more profitable to sell the GTC time as 2 PLEXs, in 30 day chunks, because again - they real cost of the PLEX is lower and hence there are more potential buyers.
PLEX + PLEX > GTC.

I wonder how many more people will venture out to null-sec to try and make more money to pay for the increase in GTC/ETC prices. I took a break in July and just came back and was paying ~400M for a 90d card. Now 60d cards are 550M and I have seen 30d for 350M. It will be rough for the casual player to get enough isk in 30d. That's almost 12M/day just to pay for the account. ------------------------------------

hmm odd.. i saw a couple PLEX for 250m, but sadly had currently not the money sinc ei invested it somewhere else. i ended up in jita later that day and gtcs there were 325-360m or so
so.. 250m seems ok.. 300m seems ok
prices *WILL* adjust.. as usual.. as always and jita prolly one of the expensiver places :)

If the GTC prices keep going the way they are, eve will become a community of isk farmers and GTC sellers with little new blood to grow the game. CCP profits will start to drop like a rock as more and more accounts go offline. I know for a fact that CCP has lost over $1,000.00 in sales over the last 30 days from an area of around 50 sq. miles. $420 of it is out of my house alone where eve USE TO BE a family affair. This account is the last of 12 between a family of 5 and will be offline in about 40 days. If I can't purchase GTC's under 500m, it will be permanant. I truly hope CCP revamps the system before greedy sellers are allowed to destroy EVE, the player base and CCP.
Now the possable missing link. Maybe CCP gets enough money from direct purchases via credit card that they don't care or need the players who use GTC's. Only time will tell.

God forbid you part with .50 cents a day to play the game.
Why should CCP implement price controls where their whole intention is a quasi-free market system?
To protect a vocal minority on the forums?
Stop telling us how you are all going to leave the game and CCP is going to suffer and friggin' do it already!
THEN you can say, 'I told you so!'

Hum player buys GTC. Player puts GTC up on market. Player sells GTC. CCP introduced PLEXs so that their is an in game system so that all trade are presumably real. (Of course the first thing somebody did was get a char with margin trading and put in a buy order for 100 GTCs to floor the market but OK).
The only thing CCP can really do to bring down prices at this point is reintroduce 30 day GTCs. Less RL $$$$ will probably = more sellers.
Right now lots of people want to save money by buying game time with isk and few people want to spend RL money for isk. In short your accounts are being closed because the people who where outsourcing the work of farming isk on alt to you for game time have decided to cancel the metaphorical alt to save money. Names, Dates, Times, Engagements, Losses, Op-Tempo or STFU! |

Mal, if your an old enough (and dedicated enough) player to fork over 1/2 bil+, and you fall for a contract scam, then you deserve to be scammed out of your 1/2 bil. Either that or your buying ISK which means you deserved it anyway.
