It appears to me as an outsider that race is not going to be a non-issue in America for a long time.
Obama is at least taking a constructive stance on the whole thing and making it clear that isn't his stance.

Originally by: MooKids It was kind of to be expected either way. Race was a silent issue in this election, luckily Obama did the right thing and not bring it up, running as a candidate who is black, not a black candidate. If McCain had won, I would have expected violence to occur, sadly enough.
Obama brougth race up periodically. Numerous times he would go one to say people would say he had a "funny name" or didn't look like other presidents. He was banking on the racial vote and was counting on racism to push turnout of his base.

The black community did not set their alarm clocks or text each other to start rioting. It has to start somewhere.

Blacks have a reason to be so "anti-white". Hell, I haven't had a single white friend since grade school. Racism is in our blood and last night was a huge step in the right direction. The right direction being eliminating separation of people based on physical attributes. So chill out honky lips, the big bad black man isn't going to hurt you. Of course that doesn't mean you still shouldn't cross the street if you see him coming towards you.

It's spelled atheist. And if you have spirituality, you're probably an agnostic.
As for the right to life? Not a right. You must fight for life, starting with your first breathe out of the womb, all the way through to your last. It can always be revoked by nature at any moment, and you have no 'right' to argue about it. What right to life has the man swimming alone in the middle of the ocean? None, and some may think him stupid for getting into the predicament.
Freedom is also not a right. You must fight for it, and often pay for it in blood, or it will always be taken from you. Many give it up freely without knowing they do so.
Food. Mmmm. Gotta love food. I'd hate to argue that someone doesn't have a right to food. But if there isn't enough to go around, someones gonna starve. The logistics of delivery, distribution, and people who pilfer and stockpile along the way. If you're starving, it's time to fight for the food, even if you have to spill some blood along the way. That's freedom, isn't it?
Just my 2 cents.

Deserve? thats a matter of opinion, our very existance makes us worthy as despite ourselves we are still around.
We are all vicious barbarians under the skin, and the sooner we accept that we are, the sooner we can improve ourselves. Our arrogance is monumental though, because despite the fact we still ****, murder, declare war on each other for no other reason than the fun of it; people think that they are are 'enlightened' and civilised, and this hypocracy makes me sick.

Thank you, yes exactly.
All I am saying is, maybe when America elected Obama we made a step in the right direction. I'm not saying the world is fixed, far from it, but the world turned for the better after turning for the worse in recent years. He himself said there will be setbacks and false starts. However, we should use this moment to inspire ourselves and those around us that maybe we can make it as a species dispite our darkest fears.

Indeed, many people today are starting to believe that if something is a right its granted, and given.
Just because something is a freedom doesnt mean your entitled to have it for free, that just means the government wont stop you from getting it aslong as you follow some basic laws.
The only freedom granted by nature is the persuit of happiness, the rest you have to EARN

The biggest perpetrator of racism are those that scream racism the most.
I have observed more racism from those that claim they are being a victim of racism than actual racism itself. I hate to say it but I've personally seen incidents started by black people claiming "racism" simply because they can't or didn't get their way.
I'd like to point out that no one alive today has ever been a slave in the United States. Yes, it was a terrible thing that happened, but its over. Its been over for over 100 years. Unless you have actually been a slave yourself, STFU. I don't wanna hear about it. Originally by: Corwain After the discussion on the forums last night about Obama and dealing with some of the posters who would just call me names and not actually address my points with logic or evidence I decided I was done talking politics until the next Presidential election. I'm not much a political person.
But then there was the morning I just had. Just got to work after one of the scariest bus rides I've had. I ride a bus to work every day. Better for the enviroment than taking a car and cheaper for me. At least half the regular bus riders are black. I hadn't even noticed this until today.
Today when I got on the bus all the black riders were chanting slogans and comments about Obama and his victory, which while any loud shouting is annoying over a 40min bus ride I can put up with it. Then the slogans started to get progressively scarier and scarier.
The slogans shouted about Obama and his victory became more and more anti-white. I head someone yelling how they'd like to "choke-slam those damn whites". Another black person railed about losing a job because he had dreadlocks. Of course 2 years ago as a caucasian I had to shave my shoulder-length dreads when I went job hunting.
So I was glad to get off the bus on one piece. Nobody replied in opposition to any of the shouted slogans, comments, or threats but all the same I was worried the next step would take place where random white people that were "looking at us funny" were physically beaten and thrown off the bus.
I hope all this cools down soon.
So by "race riot", what you mean is some idiots got a bit loud on a bus, but did not actually offer you or anyone else any violence whatsoever?
By that standard there's a "riot" on most of the buses in this country after school every day.

Prior to this election I had watched an Oprah show where she talked about how blacks talk about race.
She said (my summary here) when talking about white people (without wanting to say white) blacks will point to their palms. When talking about non-whites they will point to the back of their palms.
Well, now that Obama is president-elect I now have an Oprah-like method of referring to blacks/African-Americans/etc! I can now say "That Obama ..." and I don't have to worry about if I'm being PC. If it is ok for Obamas to refer to whites generically then I feel it ok to use a generic method of reference.
So, I'm sorry those Obamas were making you afraid and they were being aggro. But, expect more of that as they find their new place in society and history.

Agreed, I am part native american AND jewish, in this if anybody had a reason to ***** about bigotry and slavery and genocide etc, it would be me.
But I dont, because unlike some I do realise that then was then and now is now and blaming somebody for what his/her ancestors did is just simply idiotic, and expecting a handout for that reason is even more idiotic.
