I have only had this game for four days, and try to play a couple hours in a stretch. I have continuously been disconnected, usually after 15-20 minutes online, but sometimes after a minute or two. I DO NOT have a Belkin router, and every other online game I have played (for the past 20+ years) I have not had a connection issue such as this. I have searched the web for a solution but none seems to exist. Judging by the numerous posts, I am not alone. The sad thing is there is appearance of sweeping it under the rug by those who can fix it. Every time I ask for help online in game, my question is ignored as if the issue does not exist. If the developers want to expand their user base it seems like it would be a good idea to fix an issue such as this that seems to be quite prevalent. Just when I start learning how to play and accomplish something (or in the middle of it) I get disconnected. At this rate I probably will not renew at the end of my free play period.

Sad CCP, not even are you losing loyal customers but potential new ones as well. I for one am astounded by your lack of addressing this issue...

Got a new (used) pc with vista and tried to play simultanous but the first experience with the new one was a BSOD, IRQ not less or equal... updated gfx, dx, sound and lan drivers, no i dont get BSODs but connection losses and game crashes... while im online in EVE with the other computer. No probs on it going over the same router (wired) thru the same ISP. So i think its a local problem with the hardware/drivers of the computer, an old intel dual core E6400 on intel P45 based board (MSI P45 NEO-F), a geforce 9600GTS and realtek sound and LAN onboard. I'll plug a soundlbaster and a new LAN board. I hope i have PCI slot on board :) I'll report my progresses

I have problems with running multiple accounts after the patch. Running one account it's not a problem but when i'm trying to play on two or three after few minutes the third or second account is disconecting (not crash) and the first one is still running ok. Before patch everything was ok with 4 or even 5 accounts.
i tryed everything. new client. new system and new client, format hdd than new system and new downloaded client and nothing change. the active account (where i'm doing something) work fine but the minimized disconecting after few minutes (1-10).
or if i have account running but nothing doing on it it's disconnecting.

In the last 24hrs I have only seen my clients disconnect when I see packet loss on the route to the TQ server. Please see this thread for more info:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1052969&page=2
To check to see if this is indeed your problem. Install "pingplotter" and add the TQ server adderss to trace (87.237.38.200). If you start seeing >10% packet loss you are likely to see your client disconnect and exit with an error.

2 Months where I was Disco free, but now I'm back tot he usual 50 Disco's per hour.
CCP...Here's the 1 finger salute to you.

P.S. And suggesting we pay to get PingPlotter so we can solve your problem...... Well, it just shows how low you've sunk. I suppose the next logic step is scamming in Jita.

You dont have to pay to use Pingplotter standard (at least not for the 1st month iirc).

I've been dealing with "socked closed" connection errors now for a few months, and I've dealt with it because I'm paid up on all 5 of my accounts for the next few months.
But now I'm beginning to get a bit annoyed with it, and would like to say, that any other company who charged 15 quid a month for a service that randomly kicked people off would have egg on their face and a whole heap of people leaving very quickly.
I think I'll stop paying when they run out and go find something else to spend that money on.
I guess because you're the only decent sci-fi mmo out there you think you can treat your customers, fans and in some cases, friends, like this? Shame on you CCP, shame indeed.

My first socket closed error was after QR, but they were quite few and far between to cause any serious discomfort since... Apocrypha. Since then the game is no longer playable for me. I tried whatever I could think of from my side but to no avail.
It is also quite clear that I am not alone as well and I wonder if there is a correlation between falling peak user numbers and this issue. For my part, I just log on to change skills, update market orders and even that often results in crashes/socket closed errors. The bottom line I am not getting what I am paying for and since CCP is not very forthcoming with any feedback on this problem my plan is:
Stop paying for the game, liquidate all my in-game assets bar one mining/misioning ship and use the proceeds to buy plexes. If this issue is not fixed by the end of the time those plexes buy, well, it is bye-bye Eve. Till then I am off to do something else with my time.

Enough patience... it's time to bite.
I've already cancelled my 3 accounts 6 months ago because of that, now that the issue is still there... I will cancel again when they expire.
I've played 1 year of EVE without discos... there was lag in Jita... but no discos at least! Now it's no lag in jita and disco time every 5 minutes... GREAAAAT!
Thanks CCP for your politic.
And btw, I ve sent a pingplotter petition 6 months ago, and the only answer was : "It's your ISp dude, your fault..."
I can only imagine calling the stupid girl of my isp's hotline and telling her: "I cannot play EVE please fix it".. Sure she will do the necessary... or not.
Anyway, keep on posting guys, CCP don't care about us? fair... then we will make some noise.

First the modules stop responding. Guns don't hit, if I get that far (two sided, thankfully). And objects don't respond. Then the socket closes (or realizes it is closed). And sometimes, there are crashes too. All within a minute of logging in.

Damn straight. They're asking us to download a second part software so we can "Help fix the problem".
1. They have NO clue what the problem is. 2. They haven't outright told us, but it is becoming patently obvious that "Your account, you fix it" is CCP's way of a sollution. 3. Their GM's have resorted to the standard "We value your input" tripe. They like having a standard answer that is in fact, no answer since (1). They have NO clue what the problem is. 4. They're running a recruitment drive online, and they have Apocrypha out as a boxed game for sale. They could care less about our rantings. They'll have a new influx of customers they can fleece, pardon me, serve with their MMO. 5. They recieve so little bad publicity from this that its more cost effective to ignore it. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, only if they ignore it long enough, the problem will "Disappear" by itself (Read: We'll have suckered in enough new customers to replace the disgruntled saps that now know the score). 6. Even if they knew what the problem was, I doubt that fixing it would be a priority since they're so busy plugging the holes of the expansion, that this minor inconvenience is of no importance.
Seriously. The ONLY thing that'll get them moving is bad press. Until the influx of new punters is stiffled by bad press, they'll ignore this totally. I am looking at all the Forums I frequent and many of them have an "Open" section where you can post anything. Me thinks I shall take my gripe somewhere people listen. It is obvious that CCP is completely disinterested in dealing with this problem in an upright and forthcoming manner. I urge you to consider doing the same. An avalanche starts with a single snowflake.

Count me in as a victim. Happens randomly. One day I'll go six hours no problem. next day I'll get 'socket closed' three times in an hour. Verizon FIOS connection for me, if it matters. Comes and goes without any router resets.

I just got the socket closed crap today while doing a level 4 mission. Was disconnected around 10 times before I gave up. I keep my account active with plexes and doubt I will ever pay ccp with real money again. So if I can't do missions then my account will die ....

Meh, no luck for me yet. Still getting routed through a hop with >40% packet loss in Lisbon. Perhaps once this hapens:
"We will soon turn on peering with 120 smaller SP's through a multilateral peering platform that PacketExchange operates."

Edited by: Levanel on 03/05/2009 00:00:24 In light of the recent network "change" CCP made, shouldn't it be obvious by now (with all the people submitting logfiles to bugreport) that perhaps this isn't a network-related issue?
I'm growing increasing annoyed and impatient myself -- getting disconnected while being in fleet AND getting disconnected multiple FRICKEN' times WHILE LOGGING BACK IN...
