It took me about 8 or 10 volleys of firing 350mm rails, antimatter ammo, at a frigate which was had a 70 m/s transverse to me. Opt for me with that weapon is 19k, falloff of 21k. Range to target was 38k.
The thing was stuck on a roid, for god's sake. Is it really supposed to work like that?

I can complain all I want. With the tracking and optimal changes, the best place to hit a smaller target is out toward your max range. Since the frig is stil heading straight toward you, it should have little transverse.. thus meaning you should get more hits in.
I don't want to hear 'ur not sposed to shoot at frigs lolol' because that is not an acceptable answer. When the object in question has a lower transverse than the top speed of most indies, it should get hit. A lot. Period.
If I am out protecting a mining op in .2, I need a battleship to handle multiple cruiser spawns. But then, I can't hit the frigs, cause the gods have decided that my guns just shouldnt work against frigs.
1. Mount smaller guns- Fine, until some regular player pirate warps in. At which time it just becomes amusing for his tanked Raven to get shot at by 150mm rails.
2. Use drones- Sure, when they get into range. Not like a frig spawn of 6+ will murder one to two drones per engagement.. how long can that last?
3. Use a web- Dosen't work. Webs have a range of 10k, below the opt on my 350s. So they won't hit. Ever.
4. Bring friends- No. Getting a whole mining party to go out and mine 100k of iso is patently ridiculous.
5. Mount more tracking mods- No. Tracking mods becoming a no-brainer module means something is broken.
I don't have a problem with frigs not getting hit when they are close. Fine, makes sense, within 10-12k, sure. I deploy drones. No biggie.
However the target was at a good range for my guns, not an elite frig, and barely moving. It should have gotten pummeled a lot faster than it did.
Right now, they can't be hit when they're close, but they can't be hit if they're far away either.. Can't be hit when they're going fast, but also if theyre going slow? How is that balanced?
Let me also state that I AM an interceptor pvp pilot. I should be yelling and screaming about these changes because I am basically immune to BS turrets now. Except, im not. I barely fly my thron as it is, stuff like this will make me permanently mothball it.

Your 350 rails have 1/4 of their tracking due to frig sig radius. He was moving 70m/s, moving faster then you could track, you had him way out of ur optimum, practicaly at optimum+falloff, so he was out of ur range 2.
What was the question again?

i somewhat agree, why use turrets with large guns and miss when you can use raven with siege launchers and hit?

Than a few months down the line they'll nerf frigate speeds because people are complaining. just mine Iso in .7 space. you find Pebble Kernite at times. You'll upset new players but hey tough

Somehow I just wish CCP would work towards increasing versus nerfing modules or ships. I think it is deconstructive to "nerf". They spend a lot of time trying to balance the game, prior to the "turret nerf bat", things were a little imbalanced but look now it is even worst. Lots of us have to relearn how to fly or alltogther train new weapon/ship skills. It is frustrating for me to have to fly a raven when I have 7mil skill in gunnery--I get a better DOT w/ torp-cruise and only 400k in missiles skills! And I wont train missiles since nerf bat inc that way too CCP stop messing up this great game, plz spend time adding new stuff instead   |

Well what bums me out is the amount of time I have spent trying to become a good gallente pilot, I have all gunnery skills to 4 and weapon ugrade to 5, gallente bs skill to 4 also. However my rails kinda sort hit for crap damage at who knows what range even against a stationary object, so dont give me any of that flak about transversal velocity. Even with a damage mod if i hit for 100 I would be stoked now.
On the other hand, with a Raven which I am currently using for NPC hunting, you can use cruise missles, vary the damage type, hit always and at any range against any size ship. And you can do all this for markedly less training time.
And forget about blasters, just mount a couple named Large smartbombs and do 300 dmg gauranteed to any ship in your range without any chance of missing and all that for about 10 min of training time and nail drones and missles to boot.
I have around 2M in gunnery skillpoints and hope one day they will be worth something more than idle chit chat in corp channel....
