What is EVE Mentat trade tool?
EVE Mentat is a handy trade tool for EVE Online.
This tool helps your to track and manage your orders, wallet and transactions for your characters and corporations. The tool checks whether your orders are on top of the market or were beaten by rivals, helps you to analyze the market and find profitable positions, and gives you instruments to automate gathering of market information from EVE Online.
Will this trade tool be useful for me?
The tool is extremely useful for the following EVE Online professions:
- Traders (including trade hub profiteers)
- Manufacturers who prefer to sell their goods themselves
- Agent runners and hunters who want to track the income from killing NPCs
- Corporate logists who want to track the total cost of purchased goods
- People who want to keep and analyze journal and transactions for a long period of time
This tool gives you control over hundreds of orders and thousands of market positions you are interested in. Gathering market information from EVE Online and managing your orders takes minutes instead of hours.
How the tool works
EVE Mentat trade tool downloads character and corporation information via EVE Online API or reads it from EVE Online clientGÇÖs cache. Downloaded order, transaction, journal and market information is stored in the EVE MentatGÇÖs database and used to check your orders against the market.

Been thinking about this (I'm using it. It's great. Thanks), and what I'd like to see in it, in addition to what it already does, is a value for the minerals that you have.
Mostly to keep the small graph from dropping every time that I buy a bunch of Trit to make stuff with. Biggest problem I can see is that you'd have to hit the assets API as well, to make it drop when used. unless you make the drop a manual one and just increment when you see a buy order being filled.
It's far from a major issue though. Just my OCD kicking in |

Hi!
Just downloaded your application and I'm playing around with it. Just a couple questions:
1. You have character transactions but no corporate transactions?
2. There doesn't seem to be a way to initiate the update of all characters and instead you have to go one by one?
3. You also don't track assets?
The reason I'm curious about this is that I station trade with 5 accounts and 15 trade alts. Currently around 3,000 market orders or so but it'll be more soon enough. I basically use my corp as a central hub for my trade alts where all trades are corporate oriented. This allows me to centralize my escrow so a more "meta" view of my trades would make things much more useful.
Thanks! |

Okay, I must be missing something simple. When I use the export button from the Market, it says it is putting the data in the Market logs folder that is within my Owner/Documents Folder section. When I try to put that path in Eve Mentat I get the big red X. The program won't eve try it. I've looked where the Eve Mentat website says the path should be and there is no data there. |

This release (1.1.25.736) pulled a keylogger alert in Norton Antivirus (Version 18.6.0.29) Yes, Mentat obtained from official website, yes ran it by VirusTotal (which I have no reason whatsoever to trust btw)- which passed. Go figure...

As always you have no proofs. Is it so difficult to make screenshot and provide link to VirusTotal scan result?

First time I've ever written about Mentat, so you can stuff the "As always..." where appropriate.
VirusTotal
BTW - I only knew about VirusTotal because of the comment that I found on your support page where someone else posted this same issue about one of the releases (don't remember if current or a past release)
Norton pitched a fit at the point right after I pasted in the API key and hit submit, btw. Maybe that will help you out. Perhaps you need to get with Norton/Symantec.
I don't have time to post the screen shot, but I will post the results from the Norton quarantine:

I think it could be the result of behavioral analysis. Let me explain.
User actions: 1. User copies key into clipboard 2. Then pastes into EVE Mentat 3. After pressing button "Next" EVE Mentat sends this information into the web (/account/Characters.xml.aspx request to obtain character list)
And AV software reports keylogger, because it "thinks" that EVE Mentat sends over the internet the same information that is stored in clipboard. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Rats... I checked it a couple ways to try and be sure that it worked, but I guess the browser was just fooling me with a cached copy. Well, not a big loss -as I said before - I agree with you, VirusTotal says that the file is clean. Which only means that it doesn't contain any sigs of known keylogger bent virus code.

I agree with this thought as well - somehow Norton/Symantec needs to be prompted to acknowledge that the file and its checksum(s) should be on the Norton white list. That's beyond me. In the meantime, you should expect random "WTH's?" from Norton/Symantec users, with possible loss of users or people like me being stuck one rev down.

is there a way i can get my order's price status type thing to clear before importing new market data from my cache?
atm what happens is i run the igb checker and mentat tells me i have to update so many prices etc.
then i run it again half hour later - and the tool tells me i need to update prices. the problem is that it is telling me stuff it already told me on the first run through - so now i have to go through and manually check eve price change to see if i need to make it or not.
is there a way to wipe the slate clean after i have changed all my prices? |

you will have to restart eve to do this, but when you rerun your IGB scan it will all be up-to-date info |

I have 4 traders in one corp in different regions all using corp-orders to trade.
I use the IGB feature to scan and download the market data and then cache import in the market browser tab of evementat and I see it confirming it imports the data.
But when I do this I don't get the "overriden" highlight in the "corporate orders" even though I check that there is one overriden.
Can't figure out what I am doing wrong?

however for me it doesnt calculate profit well enough.

Are you using the self cost option, to set the cost for each item? At which point it'll show you the profit (though tax is an issue. I can see that being /tricky/ to work out.) FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator and other 'useful' utilities. |

I was wondering exactly the same thing as you can bring up exactly what you paid and what you received in transactions so I assume it would be relatively easy to do the maths including skills (and maybe standings?) to get exact profits for each unit |

these two tools put together really give you everything you will ever need as a trader =) Are you using the self cost option, to set the cost for each item? Not entirely automatic. But you can right click on the price in the transaction list and set price from there. so 2 clicks per item. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/

Problem with that is if you are in a highly competitive market, the price you pay can fluctuate by quite a lot so it taking that into account and taking the average of all bought and then the average of sold to give a total profit for an item

Lex Fasces wrote:is there a way i can get my order's price status type thing to clear before importing new market data from my cache?
atm what happens is i run the igb checker and mentat tells me i have to update so many prices etc.
then i run it again half hour later - and the tool tells me i need to update prices. the problem is that it is telling me stuff it already told me on the first run through - so now i have to go through and manually check eve price change to see if i need to make it or not.
is there a way to wipe the slate clean after i have changed all my prices? Currently there is no way to do this.
I think It would be helpful to add "Fixed order" flag/option to suppress "overbid" status for concrete orders till next update. I've added task. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Any help appreciated Which version of EVE Mentat do you use?

Please read my previous post. It will save a lot of your time. Also take into account that that option sets weighted average costs. So you can easily manage your self costs even when good were bought from a few transactions with different prices. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

As of today, it seems that EVE is not using a point (".") anymore for ammounts of isk cents but a coma (","). When I try to copy-paste the recommended price from Mentat to my orders, this fails. It looks like Mentat tries to paste a "." into the EVE client even though in Mentat itself the ammounts are shown with comma's.
This effectively renders Mentat useless for fast order updating.
Ps, posted this on the Mentat site also.
Edit: dunno if this is a change done on purpose by CCP but I expect a lot of bitching about it so would not be surprised if they turn it back :P |

Some details: I'm using a Dutch version of Windows 7, EVE client language is set as English. Keyboard is a "United States (international)" one. Only thing that seems to work so far is setting the "notation settings" to English (United States). Mentat works as b4 then and the EVE client let's me use the "." key on the numpad again. |

I know you mentioned that an import feature from EVE Central is planned, but any idea when you may roll out with it? Right now, importing market data on multiple items at once is not possible. I have to go through each item in my Quick List and hit 'Export to File' , which is a long and tedious process (unless there's a way that I'm not aware of???).
Would be nice to import my Quick List at once into EVE Mentat... |

As a hack you could copy MarketScanner.html to something and edit the "var ids" Then load that up in EVE. (You might need to make whats listed in "List of orders" match with what you put in "var ids"). |

The workaround I mentioned doesn't work for you? That is: setting "notation settings" to English(United States). It screws up my dates in excell-sheets but at least I can Mentat for now :P
Edit: had a glimmer of hope the 1.1.1 patch of today had fixed the issue, but no such luck. Workaround is still effective for me though. |

When I use the market browser data import/update (from client), only some of the data is updated. About 50% of my orders say they're fine, and the other half have the yellow highlight saying the data is too old. If I search that item in the browser it also says the data is too old.
If I manually view market data ingame of a specific item, then click cache import in the market browser, data for that item will update.
I'd like to do them all at once, any advice?
Edit. Ignore the above, I worked it out. |

Hey, that's very strange, it's still not working for some reason. When I try to paste the copied price from eve mentat, which has a comma, I just have that bzz sound. If I try to paste just a comma in the Order price field, it works, but if I try to paste anything else, with the comma, it doesn't work.
If I try to paste a price with dots, it's same as before, it pastes 400m instead of 4m for example.
I was really not expecting that, this is pretty weird. |

I think CCP really screwed it up now.... It seems that when I use my local (Dutch) settings, I can't paste anything with a decimal separator of any kind anymore into a market order.... So I can't even test if the Mentat test build is working as intended.
Don't really have time to double check and fiddle now but will get back on this.
Edit: double checked and fiddled anyway, who needs sleep right? The EVE client will simply not let me paste any ammount of isk into the modify order textbox that has a separator in it as long as I use the Dutch notation settings. Can paste 1000 isk fine but 1000,01(comma) isk ends up just leaving an empty textbox. 1000.01(point) ends up as 100001 isk.
So yeah, no way to test if your new build works for me till CCP figures that one out.

However its not deleting all the files from the CachedMethodCalls folder for the market import. I create about 60 files per min from 3 EVE clients.
I ran a test for about one minute. 57 file created. EVEMentat said "51 files imported", however all 57 files are still in CachedMethodCalls.
Delete old files on import is definitely checked. (I am clicking the cache import button on the market browser page) Default import source is EVE Cache

EDIT: Running as Admin, and using "Import ALL" doesn't del the files either. EVE Mentat doesn't modify EVE client's cache. It's against EULA. "Delete old files on import " concerns deleting files from temporary folder which is intermediate between cache import tool and EVE Mentat.

Pretty much an amazing tool, thanks for all the great work! It's helped me a LOT in selling stuff I manufacture since I sell my wares across multiple regions and almost never have fewer than 150 orders at a time (what can I say, I like making all kinds of crap and seeing just how high I can push the price on it and still have people buy it up )
It would definitely be cool to have some kind of a functionality for (optionally) automatically setting the self cost, but I can see how that would be tricky because different people are very likely to disagree to some extent on what the cost of an item is. For me it's how much it costs to produce but this is all I do, buy materials and sell them back as stuff that goes on ships and gets blown up soon enough. Personally, even a file import functionality would be useful for me, where the input could be something like a tab-delimited list of item names and prices (since I can easily obtain those just by exporting from my spreadsheets).
As it stands, though, this tool is wonderful and I recommend it even though I understand it would make it easier for my market competition to compete with me, heh. Thart, I contracted you a token of my appreciation for the work you've done, considering that it makes my moneymaking faster and all Thanks! |

As it stands, though, this tool is wonderful and I recommend it even though I understand it would make it easier for my market competition to compete with me, heh. Thart, I contracted you a token of my appreciation for the work you've done, considering that it makes my moneymaking faster and all Thanks! Thanks a lot for your donation!
Of course I have a different ideas how to calculate self costs, but currently I'm working on market import from EVE-Central/EVE Marketeer.
Just added task for self cost import. Export is under construction now.

Hi, very good program indeed, its helping a lot
may i suggest the following? (im sorry if in someway this is already possible, but since im a new user)
character orders
when using imported orders with api and market scanner in the IGB and after that loading that information from cache i can see the orders that ive been outbid (red ones), but:
Sell orders - from what i can see the program only shows outbided orders from the same solar system (or station?). so if i was outbided with an order one jump away the program doesnt show red for that order since i was not outbided in the same solar system. i know that i can check and use the market browser for that item, but if i have to check this for every item i would waste a lot of time, almost the same time that i used to take why dont you allow users to choose if they want the program to take in consideration the orders for that item in the same solar system or in the hole region for example, so if i was outibid 1jump away the order can show red in the price?
buy orders - i use a lot of regional buy orders for several items. so im having the same problem as above. imagine this.. i place a buy order with the range of "regional" in a different solar system and with a price way bellow other orders with the range of "station". now i dont want to raise the value of the order, since im willing to go to any place in the same region to get the item. this order is green in the price because i was not outbided in the same solar system. but imagine that another guy places a regional order for the same item in another solar system? this way the order is still green, but i have been outbided for the regional order the program could allow the user tho choose orders within the same "range" as a complement of what is shown now (this away the order could go red with another order higher than mine, within the same range and placed in a another solar system. or the program could at least display in "market orders" the orders with the same range and / or all the other orders for the same region (from what i can see now the program only shows orders in the same solar system)
i know that i could with the market browser identify that, but again, if i do this for every item in the buy orders i would "waste" a lot of time doing that
so with examples:
Sell orders - my orders: order 1 in solar system x with the price of 10million isk other user orders: an order for the same item as order 1, in solar system y one jump away, but in the same region, with the price of 1million isk Result: the program shows the order as green, but it should take in account the order one jump away(or even other regional orders for the same item), so this way a red is showed (this could be optional for user)
Buy orders: - my orders: order 1 in solar system x with the price of 1million isk with the range of regional Other user orders: an order for the same item in solar system y, with the price of 1.1million isk and the range of region conclusion: the program shows the order as green since i have not been outbided in the same solar system, but ive been outbided for the regional range orders. (the program could allow the same as above) |

This has potential, but instead of writing new features you need to fix the problems with the current ones.
1) The UI is painfully slow, learn how to write threaded programs and put the slow tasks in worker threads. E.g. loading updates, when ever some task is selected it locks up for anything from 20 seconds to 2 minutes while it finishes the task. WTF does it take 2-3 minutes to swap characters, Jeveassets which carries much more of data swaps characters instantly and loads all nine API updates in half the the time it takes Eve Mentat to load one.
2) Make load all actual load all, rather work throught the painfully slow UI.
3) Load market data from Eve Central with updates cache loading, I don't want to waste time browsing the market, exporting the data, and importing it into Mentat. It's a worse click fest than PI was. |

Please check program options: File -> Preferences, "Price status" tab, "Sell orders price range" options. Here you can set up preferred range: station, solar system, whole region.

It's known issue of EVE Mentat 1.1. But test prototype (EVE Mentat 1.2) has real order status checker based on route calculation between your and rival's orders. And it can catch even partially overbid orders. Apply to EVE Mentat Google group to be able to download EVE Mentat 1.2 test prototype. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

UI is not slow. It's too much data are fetched from your database when you switch characters.
Normally switching between characters takes 0-2 sec. Application "speed" heavily depends on your preferences: especially on observable periods specified by user.
To speed up EVE Mentat do next things:
1. Configure graphs on "Character sheet" tab to show data for the last month (or week). 2. Configure "Orders" tab to show only active orders and history for last month or week. 3. Configure "Journal" and "Transactions" to show records for last month or week.
Also problem may be in case when EVE Mentat is located on external drive with slow USB connection (during character switching it heavily works with on-disk database). Try to move application to HDD.
Also you can send me log.txt file (in EVE Mentat's folder) generated after your regular work for analysis. It can show performance bottlenecks.

But you can apply to EVE Mentat Google group for version 1.2 testing. This version has possibility to copy via clipboard all data from any table in Excel-friendly format. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Hey there,
Firstly, thanks for the great app! I'm just having a small difficulty. My character has access to a corporate wallet division and I was wondering if there was a way I could look at a transaction record for that wallet division only (isolated from my regular wallet). I can do this in game, by opening my wallet and clicking on the Corporation Wallet and then going to transactions, but I don't seem to be able to do that in this app. Is there a way?
It would help me immensely and coming up with profit totals and such.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I should mention that I have added the corp api key and have access to the corp buy/sell orders and such. |

On the beginning: thnx guys for this app. You're doing awesome job there for as!
I would like to ask for some features. I was using this site for quite long time: http://www.evemarketeer.com , but it's not useful anymore. This site had few features that i was using all the time:
- traded item comparison & profit + table with columns (item, sum_price_buy, buy_count, sum_price_sell, sell_count, profit) + list based on selected time period + it would be cool to see there columns (buy_tax, sell_tax, profit_deduct_taxes) - i know its hard, coz API journal doesn't have in taxes rows order id field, but this still could be rounded by taking tax size (skills + standing in station order is done) and counting it from sum amounts.
- trade per hour / day (own image to show you what i mean) + graph that shows average buy / sell / profit lines per day (mon-sun) or hour (1-24) based on selected time period
- summary (some of this data we can find already in some tabs in EveMentat so it isn't necessary)
would be nice if all this options will not take items that are selected as 'ignore transaction'.
Actually you have all the data needed for this graphs already. I think many of us will appreciate if you will include that to EveMentat. I will do for sure :)
One more thing: could be there option for autorefreash data (similar as it is done in EveMon)?
Hope someone from EveMentat will reply me ^^

Planned too.

EVE Online proposes API functions with quite different caching times (from 15 min to few hours), and automatic update will cause temporary data inconsistency. So I'm afraid implementing this.

I love this tool. I would like to see the following features:
- Profit Summary (Daily / Weekly / Monthly / All Time) on the front page.
- Top 20 Selling Items ( By Profit / Volume )
- Orders to restock (Comparison between buy & sell orders)
- Stats on each item (How many sold, how many purchased, average buy price, average sell price, profit). I know you can get this from transactions, and filtering, but it would be nice to have it automated.
Thanks on the great tool ~ Lisa Lei ~ Fly Safe. |

Maybe I missed the option, or it's not coded but is there a way to see if my buy order has been outbid by another order within range of the source station? I can set it to flag orders that outbid me X distance away, but cannot seperate those out from orders who's range includes my station. It seems either everything is flagged because the trade hub beats out my lower buy orders OR it misses buy orders that are not at the same station, but who's range includes my station.
Were that to be resolved, I could make some use of of this program, since checking bid competition is my big peeve wrt trading. |

Currently EVE Mentat uses distances between the rivals and actual order's range to calculate price status. And there is no possibility to limit this to the station. But I can add a kind of limitation for buy orders.

Hiya,
Eve Mentat is acting strange after this morning. It stopped updating a few sell orders and it's not showing that I have been outbidded. Looking in the Market browser tab, I can see that my Sell order isn't the cheapest anymore. In the Character orders tab however, it wont color red. The actual price does update in the Character orders tab, but it wont give me a signal I have been outbidded.
Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
I'm importing data from the EVE Online client location. I also tried importing out of: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\d_games_eve_tranquility\cache No luck.

Feature Request: Ability to ignore specific market orders for "Price Override" conditions
Ex. Scam buy order shows up for 800 isk/unit 6.5m unit minimum requirement. Normal buy order: 220 isk/unit. Ex. Someone unloads a quantity of an item at half-way between buy/sell order prices. I'd like to be able to ignore that specific order so I don't drive the overall price down as fast. |

Great tool but I'm having problems using the IGB scanner. It seems Characterorderscanner.html isn't generated when I activate the IGB scanner so I can't scan my orders. All the other files generate fine.
EDIT: Sorry, just went onto the website and I found the IGB troubleshooting had the solution to my problem.. Silly me. |

New to eve and to Mentat and love both. Having a problem with the market browser.
A couple days ago I was researching prices, and looked for Massive Scordite in several regions using the navigation on the left. But now whenever I go to search for that (and this is affecting other commodities too), the Region view is stuck on The Forge. The whole list disappears, and when I select All and import again all that come up is The Forge.
I'm sure I'm just not getting the import timing/selection correct, but I seem to have tried it every way it makes sense to me and it is still stuck on one region.
Thanks! |

Hey, I am having an issue with the cache import of market orders.
It works fine after I have deleted the MachoNet folder in the cache, but after a while (same session) it stops working again. Deleting MachoNet fixes it, but it gets tedious having to exit the client all the time.
I am using version 1.2.16.1161. There is no error message, the import pop-up box says x orders imported, y files deleted, same as when it works. |

Not sure if this is the right place to pose the question / suggestion, but is it possible to use the price difference as a parameter in the smart filter. I love the tool but when updating orders I'd like to only show orders with a price difference > "X". Is this possible or is there another tool that would achieve this?

When I update the market details from cache Eve Mentat and I click the individual line item it will show me the price difference between what I am selling / buying at and the best competitor price.
What I was hoping was to show / limit the orders that I have only been overbid on by set amounts so I can quickly update those, does that make more sense? |

Went through all the troubleshooting before posting :)
The weird thing is that it works for a few imports, then it stops. It reports no errors when I do the "cache import", the orders simply don't update.
The only thing I can think of that might be different from me and most other users is that I use this method to run multiple clients from the same installation.
I don't know how it would matter, as every client has its own cache (which is why I use this method), but it might be worth mentioning. |

Would it be possible to add in say the top 3 competitors prices if you aren't at the top of the queue, and to be able to select which price to beat. This could be used to update prices that have been beaten by someone with a stupidly low sell order that you don't want to beat, but want to be first to sell after he runs out. Another idea I had would be to show your profit % on the update order price box with the new price.
Great app though, loving it so far
EDIT: And boo for Screegs, it's pretty clear he's a minority at CCP as they have been actively supporting scraping for years, does he think the export to file button which was introduced years ago was there for decoration? |

@Yabba: You can already do this. When selecting an order under "Character orders" the bottom panel shows you the current orders for that item on market. You can right click any of them and select "copy recommended price, which gives you the price to beat that order. |

Hi. Very new user here -- to both Eve and Mentat. I've imported my character and see all the orders but I have a couple of really frustrating problems.
The first is minor. And now that I've restarted everything (and reloaded my character) seems to have taken care of itself. I wasn't able to stop the "fulfilled orders" from appearing by using filters unless I clicked "show only orders that require attention" (and then it seemed like I wasn't seeing all of my active orders). IDK. In any case... that seems to have resolved itself.
The second issue is really making me lose my mind though. "Data too old" continues to appear even after I've freshly run the market scanner and hit "cache import" + "file import" after exporting from my current orders page in game. How can the data be too old?! Is that accurate? Am I doing something wrong? When I update a price on an item that has been "overrode" the system corrects for that, and the "price status" for some items (which I'm doing nothing with except with the marker scanner in the same stations) says "ok" for the price status -- but for other items it still says the data is too old. I don't know if that is accurate or if I'm doing something wrong, or what.
I've tried just about everything imaginable with all the settings... but am at an impasse. |

This one had me wondering too! The data doesn't update unless it has changed. If you know you have scanned that item and it still says "data too old" it quite simply means that the data hasn't changed.
Edit: For the filters, there are 2 settings. If you don't want to see fulfilled orders un-check fulfilled orders in the "Status Filter". It is the button between "file import" and "show only". |

Ok thanks. That's good to know. Wish I had known about that before spending hours trying to fix the problem. And everything seems to be working out just fine today anyway. Mentat is nice, but it really does seem a bit buggy and particular.
The filters thing seems to have worked itself out too, but I was using all the various settings you were suggesting and couldn't get "fulfilled" out of the list no matter which filters I was adding or subtracting. Like I say though... it seems to have worked itself out.
Now I'm just gonna go try to earn some ISK. |

So, you want to see difference between current price and closest competitor's price in a special column in orders table. Am I right? I think it's more useful to add "Competitor's price" column and then difference can be expressed as [Price] - [Competitors price]
Erick Johnson wrote:What I was hoping was to show / limit the orders that I have only been overbid on by set amounts so I can quickly update those, does that make more sense? I'm not sure if it makes sense, because such criteria is not acceptable for all orders. I think it's possible to achive this with filter. But it needs additional column like "Overbid amount". The expression will be like:
[Overbid amount] > 10 or [Overbid amount] / [Volume] > 0.1
I'll add both these columns in the next update. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

You can form the thread into an RSS feed with the RSS button at the top of the thread. It's not email, but it's push (like email) vrs pull (like these forums).
I have an unrelated question also. There are certain orders that Mentat sees as being (in-range) competitors to my buy orders, but as far as I can tell they are not (example: Region Khanid, Neyi 10 Jumps vrs. Palas 5 Jumps) I've looked at some 2D maps to try and see where they overlap and they don't seem to. This leads me to my main question; is there a way to disregard a competitors order ID relative to one of my buy orders for the purposes of Mentat deciding if the order is "overridden"? (hope that makes sense)

1) Is there a way to force EVE Mentat to update its entire market journal/transaction history, as far back as (multiple calls, using multiple fromID values, to) EVE's WalletJournal/WalletTransactions APIs go?
2) If not, I'd like to update Mentat's local database manually. What format is EVE Mentat's dynamic database .database file in, and is there a way to interconvert between that and MySQL?
I can see that Mentat makes multiple API queries when requesting journal/transaction data, I assume because there's more new data than a single call can return. However, in my case it seems to miss big swathes of history. There's a two-day period where I don't have any journal/transaction data, for example. I know that any particular API call has a maximum number of entries (1000 by default, 2560 if you send it a rowCount parameter), but that doesn't seem to explain the problem; if I move the local database and make Mentat start a new one, it only queries back about a week before giving up, and I know there's more data available farther back in time from the API by looking at manual calls.
Thanks. EVE Mentat seems like it'll be very useful, but at the moment this partial data coverage problem is driving me nuts, and I may be forced to write a manual solution anyway. |

Okay. So.
TL:DR I have my wallet transaction data but I cannot update Eve Mentat's database file, how do I do so manually.
After many, many ImportXML calls in Google Docs and a lot of reading, I now have my entire month's wallet transaction history sitting safe and sound in an Excel spreadsheet. There are, indeed, plenty of transactions that EVE Mentat misses, even when I delete its old database file and make it construct a new one.
I can't figure out how to update the database file though. I figured out it was SQLite, downloaded the SQLite Browser, and attempted to update manually, but the application won't let me mass-INSERT into an existing database from a CSV file, and if I drop the existing mentatTransactions table and import a new one from a CSV file, EVE Mentat fails to recognize it (I assume from some kind of index-breaking problem from the new table? I'm no SQL expert) and downloads a new transaction history (placing it into MY new mentatTransactions table, interestingly).
I would be very, very appreciative for any help on how to get the transaction data - that I have! It's sitting right there on my screen! - into Eve Mentat. I love the app but hate spending nine hours data wrangling.
Edit: you KNOW I'm exhausted when I start making typos.
Edit edit: I really think the simplest solution would be a "Force Eve Mentat to download your entire wallet transaction/journal history, not just until it starts finding duplicate entries" toggle. |

To anyone FROM THE FUTURE that had the same problem and is reading this, I seem to have made progress deleting all records from the mentatTransactions table from a clean (i.e. Eve Mentat-generated) database, but not the table itself, i.e.
*save CSV file with your transaction history, collated elsewhere and sitting in e.g. an excel file*
*use SQLite Browser to import that CSV as a new table with a placeholder name, e.g. bob*
DELETE FROM mentatTransactions INSERT INTO mentatTransactions SELECT * FROM bob
I'll post again if I get everything working. |

Yup, got it working. I can now reliably recover an entire month's worth of transaction and journal history (as much as CCP makes available through the API) into my Eve Mentat local database, which is comforting.
Potential pitfalls:
1) Eve Mentat's picky about the date/time formatting. It's YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS (note the hyphens and the leading zeros), even though it isn't displayed as such within Eve Mentat.
2) Another formatting thing: Eve Mentat doesn't store "price" (in transactions) or "amount" or "balance" (in journal) as decimals; it stores them as ints, equal to price * 100, so the 1s place equals the hundreths place in the actual price. You'll need to convert.
3) SQLite Browser takes FOREVER to import CSV tables because it creates and closes a connection to the SQL database for EACH RECORD. This StackOverflow discussion was very helpful in providing a script + command line instruction to use to import directly using SQLite3, which is far, far faster (I'm talking 1-2 seconds versus 1-2 hours; wish I'd learned that earlier).
Good luck to anyone that ends up having to do this.
And, again, I humbly suggest that adding a way to force Eve Mentat to download an entire month's journal + transaction history, so it can do all this heavy lifting instead of a user, would be a nice feature. |

Erlendur GÇÅ@erlendur 2h @Fuzzysteve Very possibly, we made a number of low-level changes in this release. Do you have a forum thread? Cheers C. |

Yes. Everyone.
The cache has changed format, and until there's an updated release, you won't get updated data. Steve Ronuken for CSM 9!-á I'm starting early :) Handy tools and an SDE conversion Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

Jack Vanderpool wrote:New to eve and to Mentat and love both.
Is there a good description/document of how to use the Navigator panel?
Thanks!
I have the same problem, how can i resolve it? |

What would be a decent alternative to EVEMentat? The only reason I really used it was for the market order scanner. It's a pain in the ass managing close to 300 orders with out it. It appears there is no fix on the horizon so I guess I should move on to something that is working. |

As far as I know: there are none :P Should there be any they are likely to have the same trbl till the libraries are updated. |
