VIA CONTRACT - contract are used by most scammers to fool people about the items or ships etc. that they are selling,
sadly even if EVE CONTRACTS are intended to help player avoid scamms they are now one of the most effective and most common tools used for scamming
HOW TO DETECT IF THE CONTRACT IS SCAMM 1. look at the contract description or name, if the contract description/name doesnt match the item offered? then it is a 100% SCAMM! REJECT IT!
for example: *contract title: RAVEN NAVY ISSUE then you look at the item offered only says : *ITEM OFFERED: RAVEN- BATTLE SHIP. THIS IS A 100 PERCENT SURE SCAMM! NEVER ACCEPT IT!
you must keep in mind that once you see a good item in contract description you must look at the item first in that contract,
NEVER ACCEPT CONTRACT WITHOUT CHECKING ALL THE ITEMS IN THAT CONTRACT!
Since contract descriptions can be made by players contrary to what the contract contains.
2. TYPE OF CONTRACT - now this is one of the most decieving type of all! the player must be aware that if they wish to buy anything using a private contract they make sure to choose ITEM EXCHANGE! why? cause now adays scammers can throw you contract using FREE FORM in which THEY CAN CHANGE THE TITLE OF THE CONTRACT FORM to fool players. take it for example true contract form is FREEFORM- COLLATERAL OR LOAN, they can change the description to FREEFORM-ITEM EXCHANGE! now instead of buying it, you end up paying huge amount of isk in borrowing it and in the end? you pay a lot and get nothing... want an example?
example instead of putting FREEFORM at contract type description, scammers put ITEM EXCHANGE on the contract type discription and bingo, you will not recieve anything at the end .
SO LIKE THIS: (real experience) i am going to buy a CHIMERA and ask everyone at jita WTB CHIMERA, finaly a guy convo me and offer one for only 600 million isk, a CARRIER SHIP CANT BE BUY THAT PRICE, so in my excitement i accept it. coz what i see in FREEFORM CONTRACT description it says "ITEM EXCHANGE"! the deal was closed, i pay and have my chimera on hangar, but a day after, i wake up and find out that my CARRIER was not in the hangar. until then i remember the contract and review it! since i leave my computer open for 24 hours. so i end up With a finding like this:
CONTRACT FORM: FREEFORM contract description : ITEM EXCHANGE contract type: COLLATERAL offered item: CHIMERA/CARRIER
wooooaahhh, i find my self borrowing a carrier for 24 hours instead of buying it!!! and i borrow it for 600,000,000.oo isk
as a leason, i like to share this to all ESPECIALY TO NEW PLAYERS, TO BE SAFE NEVER EVER ACCEPT FREEFORM CONTRACTS TO ANY PLAYER ESPECIALY TO THOSE YOU DONT KNOW!!!
to have a safe contract deal make sure you are accepting ITEM EXCHANGE not FREEFORM:TYPE-ITEM EXCHANGE since scammers can easily modified them and hide its real contract type ussing thier contract discription
FURTHER INFO TO DETECT THIS DECIEVING CONTRACT FORM:
upon viewing a contract EVE ONLINE Will inform you in this manner: "YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT ANY ITEMS IN THIS CONTRACT, are you sure you wanna continue?"
if you see that warning from eve once you open a contract, REJECT IT RIGHT AWAY! no need to accept it, coz if you do, you end up paying for a ship that you can only borrow but you cant own, you will end up PAYING millions or even billions of ISK for borrowing a ship you want instead of buying it!
so to be safe : if you wanna buy something trough private contract MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS: 1. check if the items corresponds to the contract discriptions. if the item/s you are about to pay is real, 2. further check the DESCRIPTIONS of item, each item has descriptions on it and its esp. if you buy SHIP DONT EVER FORGET TO READ THE SHIPS DESCRIPTION by right right clicking it. 3 CHECK THE ITEM TYPE. MAKE SURE ITS ITEM EXCHANGE NOT FREEFORM-ITEM EXCHANGE-COLLATERAL

VIA STATION TRADE;
now this one is kinda tricky, poeple will usualy use trial account to scamm other people, the trick? they change the name of the ship by the use of thier own paying acount and let the trial account do the scamming!
example:
since the ships name cant be change in a trial account a paying account will do it, so after he hes paying account change the name take it for example: ORDINARY CARACAL and he change the name to Caracal Navy Issue, after he do that he then goes to a moon, eject and put a pasword on that ship, then a trail account then goes to the same location, since the person doing this is only one, he then ofcourse know the pass and then hes trial account can drive to station, after docking at the station where he want to do a trade scamm, he then starts to say:
WANT TO TRADE CARRACAL NAVY ISSUE, please trade me since im only a trial account i cant use CONTRACT, ( cos if he do, most people can detect its a scamm when he do this at contract. )
ships name that has been changed and pass in trade cant be detected by most usser. and since once you right click it you see the name (which has been changed) but you cant detect it in one look, unless you are an expert player and knows very well on the ship you are viewing by only one glimps, and in addition you check the guy slling hes about few days old, so you suspect nothing, and you think hes realy a trial account, dont know much thats why hes selling this for a low price!
so you end up buying it, afterwards you check it, its FAKE!!!
im not good at explaining things, but i realy do hope this example can give an idea to new players here..
WAYS TO AVIOD SCAMMS AT TRADE: 1. when buying ship trough derect station trade, make sure its been "REPACKAGE" since repackaging the ship will reset its real name. " DO NOT EVER ACCEPT SHIPS AT DIRRECT TRADE THAT IS NOT REPACKAGE" since you will be exposed to danger of being fooled by thier names. buy only repackage trade items at direct station player to player trade... |
