Can anyone tell me for sure if NPC agent standings decay? and if so by what factor?
I was away from a Caldari agent for 2 weeks doing Amarr missions and when I checked my standing I noticed that they were lower than when I left. I checked the transactions and didn't see anything listed (and doing Amarr shouldn't have had any effect anyway.) I hadn't really noticed this before, but I had hit 10. with the agent and now showed 9.87 (I know that 10 wasn't a real 10, but it wasn't a 9.87)
Thanks.

Did you let a mission offer expire without declining it? |

No, not at the time I left, and if I didn't recall correctly then it would be lised under tranaction, no?
I don't do storylines from Caldari, but they are not from this agent anyway.

They do not.
I'm not sure how your circumstance has come about, but having skipped two and a half years and come back to find my standing still at 9.78 to the Federation, I can be fairly confident they do not decay. ________________________________________________

I hate to bug it (I still have the e-mail from years ago when Procurement was broken, telling me that the skill worked), but then there is something that is not being logged or showing under transactions.
Thanks all for the info. |

well to add to this, maybe sidetrack a bit too.
I have run several lvl 4 missions in the last 2 days and my standing for that corp started at 9.92 and is still 9.92. All 3 agents I ran missions for are Spacelane.
What do you think? Is the standings increase so small its not adding up? or do you think we have a problem here?
I petitioned anyways

I thought working for other race npc's adjusts your standings. I know Gallente and Minnie's aren't exactly fond of me. |

The standings increase is very small once you get up in the high 9s. It won't even be noticeable unless you have excellent Social skills. |

As said above, the standings change is based on how far you have to go. The maximum is 10, and you get somewhere around 4% increase for completing a mission. 100% would be (10-9.92) .08, so 4% is .0032.
As for the op, if you double-click on the numbers of the standing, it will pop up a detailed list of changes to the standings, and you should be able to figure out why they went down.

Edited by: YouEatLard on 19/11/2008 05:03:41 To my knowledge, when taking a break from an agent, corporation, or even the game will not cause a standings loss.
I say this because: I have taken long breaks from the game I still have a perfect 10 an agent from the State War Academy that has been there sinse I started the game (2004, and I know I haven't done anything with that agent or for the Academy). I have several corps that I have gotten rep with corporations for the sole purpose of doing R&D. I have taken those corporations to within .05 of what is required to do R&D with their agents and then stopped doing missions for them. There are a couple that I stopped even doing R&D with as I have changed to other corps to get different types of cores. That being said, I have not lost rep with those corporations either. (Just double checked). According to my character sheet, and their info, I still have the rep required to use their top end agents.
I will say that there can be a difference between the numbers for an agent depending on where you look. When I go to talk to a couple of my agents effective standing shown on dialog box (talking to the agent) may show an effective rating that is different from the effective standing shown on the dialog box for that NPC's information (show info).
Example: When I ask Kakukainen for a mission the conversation box shows me at 9.9 When I right click on the agent, go to show info, and look under the standings tab, it shows 9.79.
This is most likely because the conversation dialog box takes whatever is the highest rating, the agent, the corporation, or the faction.
There are agents and corps that I can no longer use due to negative standings with the owning faction, however the standing for that agent and corp has not changed.
Example: My Gallente rep has fallen to -2.05. Duvolle still shows at 6.90 and Sitaleere Beene still shows 6.90. My standings haven't changed with the agent or the corp, but I still can't use that agent due to the low faction rep.
The only place I have ever seen standings change is at the faction level. The Caldari Navy and it's agents didn't move when I did missions for Duvolle or Sisters of Eve. My Caldari State standings did drop whenever I did some normal missions and when I did storyline missions for Duvolle or Sisters of Eve.
