Well, I can now use weapon stacking without ship and gates disappearing, memory use on 3 accounts peaks at 1.4gig of 2 total, and while there are variations due to load in particular systems, the game does not start to lock up after around an hour.
In fact, since the 1.0.1 patch I only rebooted once and that was because I wanted to give my 2 year old lap top a rest.
My sympathies to people still suffering - keep submitting bugreps or whatever is needed. Dont forget that issues with cooling of CPU and GPU hardware, poor air circulation, crap ISP's, and wireless home networks can also cause problems.

I just did a fresh install on my fresh Ubuntu box. When using the .deb file linked at the clients page, i get a short file not found/file does not exist message. This appears to be while installing the cedega client.
After reinstalling the .deb file it worked anyway. I have not been able to find the source of the error though.

But I now have the mouse dysfonction some of you mentionned. I'm playing on a Windows XP laptop, using classic graphics. Tecknoth iNsIdE |

Before I begin, I would like to say thank you to CCP for acknowledging this issue and working to resolve it. I was posting all over the place when QR first got deployed that there was something wrong and it needed a good look over. I was very excited to see this 1.0.1 patch deployed as soon as it was...
Having said that, keep working, because the client stutter issue isn't even close to being fixed. My concern has been about the client seeming to freeze for multiple seconds at a time after having been running for 30-45 minutes. I've not had excessive memory usage (seems about like it was pre-QR to me), I've not had the ships/gates disappearing bug, I've not had problems with weapon stacking... But I have had problems with the client freezing or stuttering.
Pre-QR I had no issues running two premium clients for hours on end. (Yes, after sevaral hours of playing a reboot might be needed to clean things up, but nothing like what's going on now.) Post-QR but pre-1.0.1 patch, I might get a solid 30-45 minutes before needing to relog... Now, post-1.0.1 I get about an hour of solid play before I have to relog. So, ok, in that sense, you've made some progress. But I still have to say there is a lot of work to be done before QR runs as smoothly as EA did.
I have not yet, but will submit a bug report after my next session of play. Need to make sure I get logserver running and all that...
Again, thank you CCP for working on this. I know that seems perhaps out of place after reading my post, but I mean it. While I'm still experiencing problems, I do appreciate the fact it's being looked into.

Edited by: JoeBear770 on 24/11/2008 13:26:48 The latest patch did help with lag/lockup issues I was having on my mac. However one issue remains...when I press esc to bring up the preferences window all works as expected, except I cannot quit the game thru that window. If I select quit and it asks are you sure and I hit yes, the client just freezes up and does nothing. I can quit by pressing control-Q which sometimes raises an exception(Eve disappears but sound continues), but at least I can quit the game.

Best thing is to disable DEP by adding a switch in boot.ini.Change the text NoExecute=OptIn to NoExecute=AlwaysOff.

Lo CCP,..... GREAT JOB GUYS! Patched the system to the new client and it took right off. Everything is smooth and there is vurtually no lag in game play except for whats expected in net lag, but thats expected for an online game. I got into a level 5 last night,...got pounded but i come thru it good,...if it were before the patch,...im sure that i would have lost the mega due to the lag,..... I am seeing the same thing. Restarting the Eve client does fix it. My Memory use seams to approach 400,000k when it starts to lag and lose fps. This is running with the cash off. Running at any other settings makes the problem appear faster.

The main thing that upsets me is I talked some of my friends into getting the steam version and after the first patch deployment, the quit using it on steam so I cannot use the steam tools to interact with my friends.
On top of this, they now seem to think Valve is a problem company and are wary of getting any other games off of steam. So, by not testing this at least once on the steam version no only is it hurting your new customers, but it is giving Valve a bad name for something that is not their fault.
We have been looking at this issue internally and with Valve since Saturday, working to resolve it.
We have reproduced this problem with the latest Steam client and older EVE clients and Valve has reproduced it with the latest EVE client. There is increasing suspicion that a Steam client update on 14 November could potentially have contributed to this problem, but that has not yet been fully verified.
We are jointly continuing our efforts to resolve this. I'll follow up with more updates later.

Oh, also. The error seems to happen because eve and steam are running at the same time when it switches to patch installation. Maybe if you have steam download the patch.exe and run it before the game starts then the error would not occur?

Valve has isolated the issue and confirmed that it is on their end. They say they should have a fix later this week or early next week. A work-around is already in place.

the new patch is absolutely wonderful.. when quantum rise was first deployed, my game severely lagged when opening/closing in game windows after 15 minutes, most likely due to the memory leak problem you guys mentioned was fixed. thank you very very very much, the game runs very smoothly again for me.

v1.0.1 patch supposed to fix the memory leak from the previous patch didn't work. The game slows down from 70 to 15 fps as soon as I jump through a stargate, exactly as before patch. Jump again and 15fps becomes 8 and then 4 and so on. CCP ain't even answering filed bugreports. I filed mine on 13th Nov and is still waiting for CCP to answer or "filter" it. It's been 13(!) days now. Most credit card-users can ask their credit card-provider for a refund if the product delivered doesn't match the product sold (a playable game). It's nice to have that option as a last resort. No UELA in the world is above the terms for the credit cards.

I'm not to sure how to do an effective job of creating intense emphasis in a simple forum post. Hopefully bold underline font and all caps will do. CCP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON NOT MAKE STEALTH BALANCES.
I confirmed Ravens were nerfed a further 4m/s in 1.0.1 from 1.0.0 speeds. There were NO patch note describing this.
The T2 ammunition nerf is ****ing horrible! I was wondering why the hell my ship's max speed kept changing and I finally figured it out - T2 ammo now changes how fast my ship moves! "A modified version of Scourge Heavy Missile. Is great for taking down smaller ships but the velocity has to be curbed to get a better launch." I'm sorry, but this isn't even remotely believable! More than an awful and illdesigned nerf, this balance edit ruined my suspension of disbelief. There's no way I can make myself think that the contents of my missiles bay have anything to do with the maximum velocity my ship can travel, and now the invisiblely clear plate of glass between me and this dream world of internet space ships that travel the galaxy has fogged and I can no longer make believe I don't see that this isn't any kind of exploration and adventure in space, this is just a video game in which CCP is trying backpedal on any advantage it gave to high SP players.
If you don't like T2 ammunition so much why don't you just remove it from the game.
Sorry if this isn't relevant to 1.0.1 specifically (e.g. it came out in 1.0.0), but when you decide not to include big things in your patch notes it gets kinda hard to tell what update included it.

I found out the problem is HDR setting, I disable it and the game works more nice now, still sometimes the fps drop. I know there were changes in graphics wich might cause more work on the graphics, but droping from an averange 70fps to 5fps after the patch is too much.

Hello.
now ive seen a few ppl that have asked the same question as i am going to ask now.... How do i get eve online to run on ubuntu? First when i tried to install it i got a weird error message but then i scrolled down the licence agreement before continuing and that error was passed that way... the next error i get i simply cant pass... ive tried everything.. even making the folder that eve says it needs... but nothing works....
i get this error:
An error occurred while trying to apply an update to EVE Online for Linux. The directory /home/myname/.cedega/EVE Online does not seem to exist. If you renamed the folder, please unrename it. If that doesn't work, you might need to obtain a fresh install of the game.
what do i do here ?
