EVE Online: Quantum Rise 1.0.1 has been deployed on Tranquility today in order to address critical performance issues that were affecting some of our players. Our team will continue to monitor Tranquility until we’re fully satisfied that the issues have been solved. We appreciate your patience during the extended downtime. Patch notes are available for review and we would encourage anyone who is still experiencing any game play issues to submit a Bug Report and we will investigate the matter as soon as possible.
During deployment we ran into a roadblock, our deployment team quickly mustered and crushed all resistance. This did delay work on the new Quantum Rise 1.0.1 patches and client. Patching from Quantum Rise to Quantum Rise 1.0.1 will work as normal, however patching from older clients will be unavailable until approximately 16:00 GMT and the full Quantum Rise 1.0.1 client download is expected to be back at 15:00 GMT. This is not a major issue as you can simply download the full Quantum Rise client and patch it to Quantum Rise 1.0.1.

Dear CCP,
I had sometimes mouse issues with the last patch, mouse freezes every now and then, random moves (I even installed my Vista again last week). Now with the new patch after 30 minutes it started again until after 5 minutes Problems the mouse died completly, i had to restart Windows. Almost lost my drones as i couldn't get them in anymore. Luckily a corp mate picked them up for me... If this is a permanent problem now, the game will become unplayable.
And no, i never had these problems before Quantum Raise...

if your mouse is a USB mouse try another USB port. I had this problem as well and I swapped the port with another USB accessory and it hasn't caused me any problems since.

Those that have reported "blue.dll not found". Which edition are you using (Classic or Premium) and from which build were you patching (Quantum Rise was build 69477). Were you using the Windows version, Mac version or Linux version? Directly from CCP or from Steam? Regular download or BitTorrent? Can you please post the messages you get (as Serena Hennessy did above)?

Yeah - having major probs myself... Had the whole blue.dll issue and when i try and re-apply the latest patch via this site, it just says I'm already up-to-date. Perhaps CCP could provide the fix for the blue.dll, etc through another mini-patch build, so that the client doesn't reject it as the same.
In any case, I'm attempting to start over and download the full client (not happy - usually takes me 2 hours). Couple that to the guy who's reached 99%, but can't get further and you've got one freked out little space camper.
Fingers crossed something comes good :S

Either way, installing the client worked fine. No patch needed to download from the server.
Things are working...

I've got the Premium edition... Patching from 69477... Windows version. Tried updating the patch from game first - which didn't verify at first, then when it finally did - the patch applied properly, but game wouldn't load (i.e. all the blue.dll issues started)
Note - my files do reside within a 'Steam' filepath (C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\eve online), but i never use the Steam client to launch the game at all (i.e. i launch directly from the .exe file)
Hope that helps :)

Hello Capsuleers,
A small number of players have experienced a problem with the blue.dll not being found during the patching process to Quantum Rise 1.0.1.
To remedy this problem, players should restart their computers and download this file. Replace the files by extracting the contents into the bin folder of your eve installation folder (typically c:\program files\ccp\eve\bin\) and saying "yes" to replace files.
It is essential that players completely reboot their PC's prior to installing the Zip file.

When the patcher encounters locked files during the patching process it schedules them to be patched on the next reboot. In the images I can see the client removing two patcher files and then it complains about two files being corrupt (since they haven't been patched).
There are two possible causes.
1) You patched but then started the client before rebooting the computer. That would trigger the client to remove the "offending" files from the patcher and then complain about a corrupt install, even after a reboot since the patcher files were removed so during the computer reboot it was unable to patch the files.
2) The patching that should have occurred during the reboot failed. When the client started it started the process described above.

Another update that may help.
I checked another PC that I had yet to patch, and it seems that even though eve was closed, several eve processes (exefile)remained in memory and are likely what impeeded the patching of the client.
I suggest you reboot BEFORE patching to ensure that orphaned eve processes aren't running still, likely that's why patching failed in my case.

Um.. I had the .dll issue earlier. No biggie, I uninstalled my client, and went to d/l the latest client. However, it stopped at 20 meg worth of file downloaded, and now when I started the d/l, it's downloading Eve_Premium_Setup_69477... Should it be downloading the older version, or did a hitch come up with the latest one?
I'm downloading directly from eve-online, window premium content: http://www.eve-online.com/download/windows.asp

Good example of where a web (or API) based way to do things like change skills or answer in-game emails would be REALLY useful.
(though before anyone rants about how OSX and Linux are low priorities because so few people use them.. keep in mind EVE probably has more people using the OSX and Linux clients then participate in fleet battles and look how much time CCP spends on THAT)

It says I need to download 3,6 M patch, I hit ok, but when downloading it says the total size is 1199kb, and when downloaded it says it fails verification (whatever does this mean) and I have to download again, so it loops eternally - downloading, failed verification, downloading etc.

osX user, Macbook Pro, ATI card - you know, the one that the graphics don't work well on due to a glitch.
The sha1 sums seem to be WAAAY off on the patches. Not only do they fail when using the login/patch system, but when downloaded and a manual sha1sum run on the patches, they're ... well, I did say 'nowhere close.'
Downloading the 'full install' from the latest patch page now - we'll see if that fixes it. I hope so (:

um...
well, for 'poo and giggles' I decided to throw the patch (that fails the sha1sum) at the executable I have. I _am_ still downloading the full vesion.
Patch executed fine.
And after launch, I am... in the game.
By any chance, did someone accidentally run md5sum and take it as a sha1sum... or something like this? It really doesn't matter if it works, and it dosn't crash. Which so far it isn't crashing.
Perhaps this will help some osX folks: the sha1sum I have for the patch that WORKS on my system is:
SHA1(eveclassicpatch69477-70124-mac.tgz)= f50e30e73b00e956888075feb0c605280f7c90da
(Mind you, I am using openssl to generate the sha1: i.e. alias sha1sum="openssl dgst -sha1" )
I'd go ahead and grab the latest full version while playing, just in case; but if this gets you in the game so you can read your emails, etc; hey - they got us a patch, it works, it's just a bit wierd.
I'm again very glad that we have a game this good that runs on osX. Even if it is in Cider and not native (:

I don't recall having any performance or memory issues in 1.0.0 , the new patch from today made things worse for me : 1.2 gig ram usage and all that, Constant I/O to my HDD and jumping through gates makes things choppy for a short amount of time.
Also : my graphics in the premium seem blurry, even the ship & drone icons (the rendered ones) seem very blurry.

When running 2 EVE clients, each now always takes 50% CPU. Slows down whole machine badly too.
Not only that, but if I have a download running (downloading CentOS ISO in Flashget), when EVE client has focus, download speeds go down for 50-70%. When I switch back focus to anything else, speed goes back to normal.
Great patch, in few months we'll need 4GB RAM and quad CPU system to run one client...

Did notice a few tabbled dialogs were slow to switch (chat, corp hangar, etc), but I think I still need to put in more play time to see whether that's an issue or just me being impatient. :)

Ever since QR 1.0.0 came out (build 65477..I think) my Items and Ships windows do not stay open once there is a session change (undock/dock, logoff/logon). Oddly, this only happens with one of my 3 chars... even though all 3 run on the same levels of Premium on the same machine (though no more than 2 at a time).
I have also noticed some blurriness with various icons. The gates and POSen however, seem to render fine. I'm running the Premium client 1.0.1 now on top of XP, same issues.

Well, I was pretty sure it wouldn't work, considering it took three days to get updated on Steam last patch....but I'm not sure if YOU know. CCP...do you know that you sell a game on STEAM? A slightly different version that has an extra background process to chat to others outside the game. Currently "gameoverlayrenderer.dll" is crashing the game. I'm pretty sure that is the STEAM overlay for chat. Last time I talked to all my friends who have the Steam version and on the steam forums and NO ONE could play it for around 3 days. This time it seems NO ONE can play it either. Listen if you are going to try and sell it on STEAM, maybe download just one version of it to try yourself before releasing the patch. In fact you didn't even fix the patch on the last one, eventually the steam trial was updated to quantum rise and people had to download that to get it to work.
YOU SELL A STEAM VERSION YOU SELL A STEAM VERSION
I have my doubts this will get resolved anytime soon. Sorry for being a big **** about it, it's just that I was 99.9% sure when the patch deployed, the steam version would not get tested.

** FIX FOR STEAM VERSION ** Ok, found a way to install the patch for those of you using steam. First close steam. Navigate to the eve .exe file (usually - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\eve online\eve.exe) Run the .exe and install the patch. Start steam and run the game as normal.
I know I sound over-reacting in my earlier post and I know you guy's are under a lot of stress right now trying to deal with the problems. The main thing that upsets me is I talked some of my friends into getting the steam version and after the first patch deployment, the quit using it on steam so I cannot use the steam tools to interact with my friends. On top of this, they now seem to think Valve is a problem company and are wary of getting any other games off of steam. So, by not testing this at least once on the steam version no only is it hurting your new customers, but it is giving Valve a bad name for something that is not their fault.
Also...you know you can send an .exe patch file to valve and it will download and install for you right? That way the game doesn't even need to be started for people to get updated.

Since this latest patch, on both a 64Bit Vista and 32Bit Vista PC, I get an error saying "CCP Exefile has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
This is since this latest patch, and when running 2 or more eve clients windowed, or one eve client fullscreen it seems. ~ some times you're the dog, some times you're the tree. |

I am getting a _trinity.dll file error too, on both copies of my client that are in two seperate folders.
Both are Premium clients. This occurred during the update process. When the client tried to automatically patch I got a permission denied error. So I manually downloaded the client. It passed check and started the update process and failed partway through.
I do not get an error regarding blue.dll, just _trinity.dll. Error code is ept0022

In general, this kind of error may be related to firewall or user permissions. Check if the eve.exe is still permitted through firewall and you may also try running the game as Administrator (even if youŠre the only user and logged in as Admin, right click on game icon, properties and "run as Administrator").

I have loaded the patch and the client will now not open on my screen. I get the Intro page but no log in page. After a few seconds of showing the Intro page, it minimizes to the bottom of the page and does nothing else. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the client hoping that would help but it is still doing nothing.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Jazz

I still have problems whit low fps.
Before the patch I played whit premium at "extreme" whit a resolution of 1680x1050 full details.
HDR set on high.
I found out the problem is HDR setting, I disable it and the game works more nice now, still sometimes the fps drop. I know there were changes in graphics wich might cause more work on the graphics, but droping from an averange 70fps to 5fps after the patch is too much.
I have a 7900 GTo, Athlon 64 X2 2.4mhz and 2 gb ram. My machine, ofc, isnt state of art, but it runs my games pretty well even games way more graphical demanding then eve...
Is this a issue that is been worked or not?
Kinda sux having reducing graphics...

After the patch my game is a lot smoother overall. Menus fly now (after first load) and battles are much smoother. However, after having the game on for maybe 4 or 5 hours (fight, afk, fight) it got extremely slow. My ship was on fire which seemed where the slowdown started, but after I returned to base and fixed it up, it was still really slow. I'm running premium graphics.

My folder is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\eve online. I would assume if you did not get the game through Steam, the default would be C:\Program Files\eve online or maybe C:\Program Files\CCP\eve online.

Since having consistent installation issues when I first started playing, I've gotten into the habit of installing Eve in C:\EVE... Haven't had any odd installation/launch issues since settling on that path.

Good job on client fix from my view point. The snap in processing commands is back.
I was having 2-3 second delays at the start with the 30-45 minute time frame slow down eventually slowing that to where even making market checks in docked condition infeasible.
Now commands are instantly accepted in most situations and hours later I have no slowdown. EVE has also really improved the lag overall in the last 3 months so kudos.
The only way I would like to see updating fixed as
(1) Get a little bit better test server fidelity to the real EVE setup. Your latest patch proves your software folks are top notch given time and resources.
But in past few patches you obviously either (1) didn't have time to complete QA and deployed anyway, or (2) the current test servers have some major shortfalls in simulating the operational environment. I sort of like to assume the uberness and rapid expansion of the main EVE servers have just left the test servers a little bit less real than they should be.
(2) just let us know where you are compared to the planned timetable during patches. Let us know if you are 15 minutes behind "the plan". Most people actually know that deadlines often slide even when everyone does their best.
Quit the hard sell of "going to meet the deadline" even when it is obvious that you need a miracle with only 8 minutes left with no server start up messages. We are going to guess anyway. Why not let us be "on the inside"? We are going to guess anyway.

No surprise there. I bet CCP was focused on fixes for Windows XP folk like myself this time. You likely only got the new features instead of an improved compile.
I'd make sure you bug reported for your own OS, so that they have enough data.
Each OS has its own environmental quirks that a large demanding application can accidentally stick its foot into -- including OSX and Linux. That is why compiler have options.

Before this last patch I was almost completely paralyzed after 5 hours. Now OK.
So what you see might be in part due to the number of weekend EVE players too (+20% to +40%). Of course generic weekend Internet usage can slow links in between. I also wonder if the EVE server site does all those EVE patch downloads too (some 4MB and some full client).
Try 5 hours late at night 0300-0800 GMT especially on weekday as your benchmark when none of the above factors should affect play.

Would you believe that EU law requires a slowdown after 5 hours as child protection measure? 5 hours!!! Take a break.
LOL -- I doubt that is the reason but the EU did consider some strange law along that line if I remeber right.

I have an unusual fault - similar to one of the bugs people reported following QR 1.0
Basically when I fit a module to a ship it does not auto-online and appears red, but when I right-click and try to online it, it seems to online it (but does not make it green), as when I try to online it again it says "that module is already online" or similar.
Then - worst of all, when I am in space, some of the mods offline themselves, and will not go online even if I have 95% cap. Either that, or they will activate (but not go green) and I am not sure whether they are on or off. While that may not seem that big an issue for weapons, it is a rather unsettling for a Covops cloak!
Does anyone else find similar issues?

Well, I can now use weapon stacking without ship and gates disappearing, memory use on 3 accounts peaks at 1.4gig of 2 total, and while there are variations due to load in particular systems, the game does not start to lock up after around an hour.
In fact, since the 1.0.1 patch I only rebooted once and that was because I wanted to give my 2 year old lap top a rest.
My sympathies to people still suffering - keep submitting bugreps or whatever is needed. Dont forget that issues with cooling of CPU and GPU hardware, poor air circulation, crap ISP's, and wireless home networks can also cause problems.

Before I begin, I would like to say thank you to CCP for acknowledging this issue and working to resolve it. I was posting all over the place when QR first got deployed that there was something wrong and it needed a good look over. I was very excited to see this 1.0.1 patch deployed as soon as it was...
Having said that, keep working, because the client stutter issue isn't even close to being fixed. My concern has been about the client seeming to freeze for multiple seconds at a time after having been running for 30-45 minutes. I've not had excessive memory usage (seems about like it was pre-QR to me), I've not had the ships/gates disappearing bug, I've not had problems with weapon stacking... But I have had problems with the client freezing or stuttering.
Pre-QR I had no issues running two premium clients for hours on end. (Yes, after sevaral hours of playing a reboot might be needed to clean things up, but nothing like what's going on now.) Post-QR but pre-1.0.1 patch, I might get a solid 30-45 minutes before needing to relog... Now, post-1.0.1 I get about an hour of solid play before I have to relog. So, ok, in that sense, you've made some progress. But I still have to say there is a lot of work to be done before QR runs as smoothly as EA did.
I have not yet, but will submit a bug report after my next session of play. Need to make sure I get logserver running and all that...
Again, thank you CCP for working on this. I know that seems perhaps out of place after reading my post, but I mean it. While I'm still experiencing problems, I do appreciate the fact it's being looked into.

Edited by: JoeBear770 on 24/11/2008 13:26:48 The latest patch did help with lag/lockup issues I was having on my mac. However one issue remains...when I press esc to bring up the preferences window all works as expected, except I cannot quit the game thru that window. If I select quit and it asks are you sure and I hit yes, the client just freezes up and does nothing. I can quit by pressing control-Q which sometimes raises an exception(Eve disappears but sound continues), but at least I can quit the game.

We have been looking at this issue internally and with Valve since Saturday, working to resolve it.
We have reproduced this problem with the latest Steam client and older EVE clients and Valve has reproduced it with the latest EVE client. There is increasing suspicion that a Steam client update on 14 November could potentially have contributed to this problem, but that has not yet been fully verified.
We are jointly continuing our efforts to resolve this. I'll follow up with more updates later.

Originally by: John Hollow I know I sound over-reacting in my earlier post and I know you guy's are under a lot of stress right now trying to deal with the problems.
We have been looking at this issue internally and with Valve since Saturday, working hard to resolve it.
We have reproduced this problem with the latest Steam client and older EVE clients and Valve has reproduced it with the latest EVE client. There is increasing suspicion that a Steam client update on 14 November could potentially have contributed to this problem, but that has not yet been fully verified.
We are jointly continuing our efforts to figure out what interaction between the EVE and Steam clients causes this issue and resolve it. I'll follow up with more updates later.
Thanks for the response! Glad to know this issue is being looked into. Here's hoping the next patch goes smoothly for steam users!
Oh, also. The error seems to happen because eve and steam are running at the same time when it switches to patch installation. Maybe if you have steam download the patch.exe and run it before the game starts then the error would not occur?

Valve has isolated the issue and confirmed that it is on their end. They say they should have a fix later this week or early next week. A work-around is already in place.

Originally by: Prometheus Exenthal Since installing the latest patch I have experienced much worse performance. FPS has dropped significantly, and playing and running fraps is near impossible now.
False alarm, some hidden laptop settings had reverted to ones much less than ideal.

the new patch is absolutely wonderful.. when quantum rise was first deployed, my game severely lagged when opening/closing in game windows after 15 minutes, most likely due to the memory leak problem you guys mentioned was fixed. thank you very very very much, the game runs very smoothly again for me.

v1.0.1 patch supposed to fix the memory leak from the previous patch didn't work. The game slows down from 70 to 15 fps as soon as I jump through a stargate, exactly as before patch. Jump again and 15fps becomes 8 and then 4 and so on. CCP ain't even answering filed bugreports. I filed mine on 13th Nov and is still waiting for CCP to answer or "filter" it. It's been 13(!) days now. Most credit card-users can ask their credit card-provider for a refund if the product delivered doesn't match the product sold (a playable game). It's nice to have that option as a last resort. No UELA in the world is above the terms for the credit cards.

I'm not to sure how to do an effective job of creating intense emphasis in a simple forum post. Hopefully bold underline font and all caps will do. CCP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON NOT MAKE STEALTH BALANCES.
I confirmed Ravens were nerfed a further 4m/s in 1.0.1 from 1.0.0 speeds. There were NO patch note describing this.
The T2 ammunition nerf is ****ing horrible! I was wondering why the hell my ship's max speed kept changing and I finally figured it out - T2 ammo now changes how fast my ship moves! "A modified version of Scourge Heavy Missile. Is great for taking down smaller ships but the velocity has to be curbed to get a better launch." I'm sorry, but this isn't even remotely believable! More than an awful and illdesigned nerf, this balance edit ruined my suspension of disbelief. There's no way I can make myself think that the contents of my missiles bay have anything to do with the maximum velocity my ship can travel, and now the invisiblely clear plate of glass between me and this dream world of internet space ships that travel the galaxy has fogged and I can no longer make believe I don't see that this isn't any kind of exploration and adventure in space, this is just a video game in which CCP is trying backpedal on any advantage it gave to high SP players.
If you don't like T2 ammunition so much why don't you just remove it from the game.
Sorry if this isn't relevant to 1.0.1 specifically (e.g. it came out in 1.0.0), but when you decide not to include big things in your patch notes it gets kinda hard to tell what update included it.

Hey, can someone plz give me a hit plz? Kinda sux been ignored.
At least flame me, tell me to go away, tell me this isnt the right place to post this...anything... CCP Explorer, plz any coment on this?

Hello.
now ive seen a few ppl that have asked the same question as i am going to ask now.... How do i get eve online to run on ubuntu? First when i tried to install it i got a weird error message but then i scrolled down the licence agreement before continuing and that error was passed that way... the next error i get i simply cant pass... ive tried everything.. even making the folder that eve says it needs... but nothing works....
i get this error:
An error occurred while trying to apply an update to EVE Online for Linux. The directory /home/myname/.cedega/EVE Online does not seem to exist. If you renamed the folder, please unrename it. If that doesn't work, you might need to obtain a fresh install of the game.
what do i do here ?
