We need to make a petition for Chaos to get the floating eyeballs back as custom avatar. I'd fully support that.

Behold, lowsec and 0.0, where veldspar roids are as large as capital ships, and can yeild enough veld to **** out a handful of HACs. If you left Highsec every once and a while, you'd find that the vast majority of space is unused, uninhabited, and SPARKLING WITH RESOURCES.

As true as this is, asking a 0.0 miner to mine Veldspar and they will laugh in your face most of the time. There reply would be something like this. You want Veldspar, okay I will mine Crokite and sell the minerals in High-sec and buy your Velspar and ship it down and still make a huge profit.
Or most of the time 0.0 alliances say we need Veldspar everyone must bring in the veldspar hauler spawns and we are going to start collecting RAT loot and reprocessing. Problem solved.
Sad but true I have heard both lines used.

May be true, but lets face it- a corp of miners operating in 0.0 with a small selection of support ships (including a new Orca =D) could more than outpreform a highsec mining corp with similar equipment, even if they only mined Veld.

Incease your mining by 33% and it will.
The prices will come back down once everyone has 3 Orcas each gathering dust in their hangers, and then the price will collapse, just like it's done with every expansion that has add new shinny toys. Which of course will have your mining counter parts (whiners) demanding a reduction in trit production and loot drops so that the prices go back up.

:D well the first part of that is true. The unihabited part isn't entirely accurate. Set up a low sec/0.0 mining op and the sharks will smell the blood soon enough, even in apparently empty systems.

Maybe you never noticed, but without losses and taxes, reprocessing loots (yeah, in some way, those two means the same I am afraid) will give you the exact amount as to create it. Doing so, it would also *need* more when making it. Catch-22 ?
Move (all assets) to a larger system? Away from trade hub? Also, being industrialists ourselves, we (corp) learned a long time ago that mining barges AND exhumers CAN activate stargates. it's true! The same with haulers, I do this all the time.

Let us dissect this small piece of fail...
Originally by: Pithecanthropus Demand is being created by more and more people being skilled to fly capital ships...
Not everyone flies or wants to fly a cap ship. Bigger =/= better and the faster people realize this the faster they tend to stop skilling toward big ships and focus on flying what they want to fly.
Quote: not to mention the new Orca builds.
Temporary. Demand always spikes after new stuff is introduced.
Quote: The game's population has already peaked. It may be a steady climb now, but there will not be a drastic increase with your game players again.
Untrue. I firmly believe there will a pretty strong surge next year, with Ambulation going in (which will draw in a totally new crowd) and the box going on shelves which might get Eve some mainstream attention.
Quote: Just my opinion... so when your Eve population continues to get stronger, and continues to need bigger and better ships and parts... the demand for more building materials is there... and TRITANIUM is the most sought after.
Note the bolded parts. Tritanium is not sought-after, insurance prices keep the basket price of T1 minerals pretty much fixed. They vary in relation to each other in response to many, many factors most of which you have no idea over nor any real control over. Generally though, lowends do the opposite of whatever highends are doing. This is a big area of discussion but mineral prices have little to do with what you think they do.
Quote: Simply increase the output of trit... from roids, loots, reprocessings... give 1/3 more trit... and bring Eve back to life.
All this would do is disenfranchise empire miners. Trit prices would decline, thus trit-bearing ore prices would decline, and highends would go up. Finished product prices would not change, 0.0 dwellers would get *another* boost to their pocketbooks and empire miners would get shafted.
In conclusion, the OP is a shining example of epic fail, or is a brilliant troll. Either way, I take my hat off to you. ---

I thought this thread about about trit? Everyone knows Veldspar is for stockpiling only. Anyone doing anything else should be fined tbh.

There's so much BIG veldspar rocks floating around 0.0 that there's hardly any more need for tritanium sources. It's not like anyone would bother mining when you get same from ratting, though.

Edited by: Phillip Davis on 27/11/2008 14:06:58 Personally, I don't see the issue with not enough Trit. Even in high sec space you can find decent size astroids that haven't been mined. Especially regular ole Veldspar. You don't get that nifty 5 or 10% extra, but Trit is Trit none the less.
