Easiest way would be to just uninstall, delete the database files and then re-install.
Kinda what I was thinking, no biggy thank you!
Could you make some kind of pop-up rolling log window that shows when a character last updated what, and how many entries were updated? I'm always wondering if my guys actually pulled any data.
And some sort of automatic prune of the API call history files after X days would be nice too. I have 1946 items in there after about 72 hours of sporadic operation.
For me, EMMA always starts full screen, which in my case is 1920x1200. Could you put in a way to set, or have it remember the starting window size?
If I could hide the Control Panel and reopen it with a button on top that would be cool too.
I could add some extra info on how many items were added/modified in the last update. Added to the list.
The API call history files should get deleted after 48 hours. Mine certainly do. I'll see if there's a possible bug in there though.
Yep, I shall add a setting to remember the windows size/location.

You might be on to somthing there. I've got no better ideas I'm afraid, you certainly need nothing else installed. --------------------------------------

Ok, I'll help people out with Vista 64Bit and SQL 2008 (Obviously installing the 64Bit version). I'll also help people out with pulling the data via ODBC Links which is what I use for EMMA 0.9. That's if they want to do that sort of thing, I run an Access Database with my own personal Production data and feed it with marketing data from EMMA, in case someone asks why. Just shoot me an EVEMail and I'll try and help.
Elisa - For a start I had a next to clean install of Vista 64Bit, it just worked out that way. I'm also using Vista Enterprise which may have some difference, however according to Microsoft Vista Ultimate includes everything Enterprise has. Vista Corporate has less features then Enterprise.
That said - I used this install for SQL - Microsoft« SQL Server« 2008 Express with Advanced Services
On that page I made sure everything was installed and in the Instructions (Quiet a list) I did install Powershell but I know Vista comes with Powershell, but I ran the install none the less. Make sure you grab all the 64Bit versions of each requirement if available (I think they all had 64bit versions)
Run all the pre-install apps first. Run the SQL even before you install EMMA. The installer will check all the pre-requisites for you, fix any that it says (It gives you something on how to solve it if it's a warning or an error etc.)
Instance Install - VERY IMPORTANT When you're asked to check name the SQL Default instance it MUST BE - SQLEXPRESS EMMA looks for 2005 default install which happens to be called SQLEXPRESS. You can install as many instances as you like in 2005 and 2008, however 2008 gives you an Option to name your default instance whatever you want. EMMA will not function without if it's called anything else other then, SQLEXPRESS
Once you have the Default instance installed you're going to have to give yourself permission.
Load up the Program - SQL Server Configuration Manager Select the SQL Server Configuration Manager (Local) Select the SQL Server Services
Look at the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) Make sure it's Start mode is Automatic (I can't remember if it was set or not) Log On As NEEDS to be "LocalSystem"
Check SQL Server Browser is runner and it's StartMode is Automatic For some reason SQL needs this running with EMMA, don't ask me why I think it's because it's looking for SQLEXPRESS.
Go though all the last options in the list and make sure every "Client Protocols" are "Enabled". I forget which one is vital, but I turn them all on anyway, I want to get to the data many different ways so it's not hurting it by turning them on.
Once that is done you can install EMMA, Hopefully that will work.
The larger tricky part comes if you want to pull the data with ODBC. If you are going to do that shoot me an EVE-Mail and I'll try and help. It's more complex and requires you to do some fiddling.
This is not actually anyone fault that 2008 has issues. Ambo set up EMMA to run with defaults which is perfectly fine, with 2008, all those Defaults became "Options" and if you run with the 2008 "Defaults" it breaks EMMA.
As a side note, EMMA in a 64Bit environment is LIGHTING fast. Running reports is almost instant. Try running a daily report for the last 14 days and you'll see how much faster it is.

Great app I must say - a far cry from 0.9
Having another play tonight with 13 days remaining to see if it can help make me money rather than just reporting and I'm struggling with the contracts screen - the only station that I can pick for the destination is Jita and the pickup station is blank (and blank in the drop down)
Do I need to import market data from somewhere?

All the station/item dropdowns in EMMA are populated with recently used stations/items only. i.e. when you first use it there won't be any unless defaults are required.
Simply type part of the name into the field and press return, tab or whatever. EMMA will search for any stations/items matching the characters you entered. If there is only one then the field gets populated with the full name for that one. If there are more than one then you get a dialog box allowing you to select the one you want from the possible entries.
This is done for performance reasons - populating the dropdownd with full lists of items and stations was eating up over a second on my slower test PC. Does not sound like a lot but when you're waiting for a window to open and you're impatient like me, it feels like forever.

Hopefully, I'll get you a few extra subscriptions.
There are 32bit versions of SQL Express 2008 you should be able to install on XP. There is nothing the 64Bit does that the 32Bit won't. If ANYONE is going to try out 2008 32Bit be aware you'll need to uninstall 2005's Default install. Remember EMMA needs the default instance to be called SQLEXPRESS. Although you can install 2005 and 2008 on the same machine you can only have one Instance called SQLEXPRESS. Keep that in mind if you plan on going to 2008. The good news is, EMMA just uses SQL as a pass-though, deleting SQL 2005 will not remove any data from the EMMA Database.
If you plan on "playing around" to see 2008 in action. I recommend, in fact I would insist you back up the Database files in the EMMA folder. (Back up the whole EMMA folder) Once it's backed up. Uninstall SQL 2005 or just delete and re-create the Default Instance of SQLEXPRESS. If you can't it'll have to be uninstalled. (I can't remember if you can do that or not)
Then follow the directions In my post above but get the 32Bit versions instead (Unless you have the 64Bit versions)
I can't compare 2005 and 2008 on the same hardware because of work (I Have 2005 full blown SQL installed so it doesn't let me install EXPRESS) There may be speed differences, I notice it but I would believe it has more to do with the 64Bit instead. It could also be my CPU. I tried 2005 on Windows XP SP3 and it appears to be GOD AWFUL SLOW compared to the Vista install. Very well could be the hardware, the Vista machine is newer but only 400mhz cpu speed separate the two.

Mk, so I finally after hours of uninstalling and deleting everything I could find about all instances of any SQL stuff.. I finally reinstalled and the update went wonderfully and then.... another exception.... though this time it says that the Filestream feature isn't supported even though I specifically checked all boxes to install the filestreaming feature, and when I go to the config tool it shows that filestream is active. Also, the instance is called SQLEXPRESS as needed so it's not that. Any ideas?

Uploaded some updated components. Fixes in this release:
- Changing things to work properly with Vista will take a while, in the meantime, I've added some checks to not even attempt to run if the appropriate permissions (Full file read/write and registry read/write) are not available.
- User can now amend api key by double clicking the eve account line in 'manage group'
- If an eve account is already in the database but is not used by any report groups then the user can now add that eve account to a report group using a different api key than the one already in the database.
- EMMA will now remember main window state, size and location and use it when starting up next time.
- Added a new button in bank account details to recalculate all bank interest payments (from 1/1/2000 onwards). This is a stop-gap measure until I actually find and fix the problem.
- Made changes to the auto-updater progress bar so that it actually shows you what's going on rather than appearing to freeze.

Edited by: Elisa Day on 04/12/2008 00:18:13 I could now create a report group, and most things I tried seem to work, but making a asset report got me an exception:
System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal) at System.Number.ParseSingle(String value, NumberStyles options, NumberFormatInfo numfmt) at System.Single.Parse(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info) at EveMarketMonitorApp.DatabaseClasses.ReportGroupSettings.FontFromString(String fontInfo) at EveMarketMonitorApp.GUIElements.ViewReport.InitStyles()
And the window looks like this:

EDIT: This happens on all reports.

Try going into Settings->Report Style Settings and changing the fonts. This will probably give you the same error that you're getting currently, however, there's a chance it'll work.

The reports are blank probably due to the issue I'm not having as well. The Journal and Transaction API data is missing.
As for shinystackworks.net, my only guess is this is the licensing server. but I'll let Ambo answer that one.

Try going into Settings->Report Style Settings and changing the fonts. This will probably give you the same error that you're getting currently, however, there's a chance it'll work.
Either way, I'll get a fix out for this issue ASAP.
Edit - The default font it uses is Arial, I thought all Windows machines had this by default but it's worth checking if yours does not (should be in Windows/Fonts). If you don't have it, you can download it from plenty of places, just type 'Arial Font Download' into google.
Trying to change fonts gives me the same message (and no font dialog). And yes, I most definitely have arial, and yes, it's a standard windows typeface. Deleting it will break a hilariously large number of things .
