Started in high sec. Target rat, shoot rat. Bored me to tears. Moved to null-sec, solo for a while, then joined an alliance. Bored to tears. Found Skira's guide. Now when flying about, I get my Yarrr on and have a great time. That's right, Skira Ranos has single-handedly kept me in Eve.  Guide should be re-stickied.

ok i'm noobs in EVE, but i think this guide is a very good work.... i have a little question: can be possible play only as bounty hunter or (especially for a newbie) is better make before Pirates or Mercs?
sry if this reveal stupid question, but when i wrote noob i mean i have only 300k Sp (very newbie)

Also, the Bounty system is pretty broken in Eve right now. Being a bounty hunter, using the in-game bounty system, isn't really feasible. Anyone with a large enough bounty will just jump into an implant-free clone, and get an alt or a corp mate to pop them.
That said, you can always try to be something of a mercenary instead. You get paid by the corpse. Not sure how well that would work, though.

Yes, shame about the bad bounty system. It could use some love in order to make bounty hunting and anti-piracy a viable career. Something like FW; a special corporation with LP and ISK payouts based on the security status of the guys you pop. Ho hum. Bounty hunter ships...think of the possibilities :) They would be superlative pirate ships too.
Anyway, bump for the guide, it's a good read that should be stickied so that budding ne'er-do-wells can get their greasy mitts on it more easily. Man up CCP, apply the glue and say you're sorry.

Good guide, had a lot of fun and made my first ransom after a fair lot of effort.
Flew a gank PST rifter, tried to point battlecruisers for ransom vs. release, finally found an afk pod and ransomed for 100M. No more mining for the corp op hulk :)

hello well i've read all ur guide from head to toe wich is very entusiastic and amusing :) i'm just a noob with 1.3mil SP wich is nothing got alot to learn and i love that piracy live however i'm afraid of ISk income and i hope i can talk with author thru eve mail ;) got piracy 101 now i need adv piracy 101 after i setup the goals :) hope i can live as apirate just like u and maybe some pirates corps guidelines? who knows? well ty for sharing ur huge experience in piracy :)
