Corp theft is the worst element of Eve and personally I don't want it to be accepted by CCP or the community.
There are a number of options CCP could implement to stop corp theft or at the very least name and shame who was responsible.
If you agree CCP should change this policy please reply to this thread, we are the customers and the customers are always right.

I don't think it will do any good, Tam.
CCP are clearly going to make us wait until Shiva before any proper corp. management features are input to help guard against corp. theft which, in a way, is like closing the barn door after the horses already bolted
Until then we'll also have to put up with baseless accusations.

It's gonna have to be a system that takes the worst common denominator. Prepare for the worst always.

Edited by: Viceroy on 12/07/2004 21:12:30 I do NOT agree.
Game policies should not be changed because megacorps want them to be changed.
Where was this petition when other small corps were being robbed?
It didnt exist.
You want the game policies to be altered for your own interest. Thats sad.
I find corporate espionage to be a very interesting aspect of EVE. I dont want it to be taken out just because 2 "big" corporations want to settle a score.
Shiva will fix it.
We dont need game alterations right now because some people got screwed over and want it to be all better. -

Viceroy,
Equilibria aren't a megacorp.
We're just ****ed off that some **** in EV can make these accusations and we have NO way of retaliating.
If someone shoots us, we can shoot back.
If someone says we've thieves, we can sit on our hands.

Corporate theft is an acceptable game mechanic. But not allowing people to know "who" did such a thing is wrong. Removes any risk or effort involved.
It makes corporate theft not just one huge pay day for all the risk or abuse you'll take for doing so. Noooo, let's make it something that you will allow someone to do over and over again without risk or effort.
To say "Shiva" will fix it is to continue to use "soon TM" as a mantra for self-realization.
Name the shame.
Don't get into taking it back or what not. But to add these types of tools, in Shiva, is an outright admission on your part that you screwed up. So close to release and yet... ...

A 'fix' will come with Shiva.
In the mean time, be as careful as possible when granting hangar access. I understand that this is not always an option, in the case of CEO's or Directors taking items, but until Shiva, there's not much that can be done.
CCP can't name thieves for obvious reasons.

They're very obvious, would be silly to post them since they are so extremely obvious.

Response to: "It's part of the game. Corps have been robbed before and who cares if the thief was never even discovered. Deal with it." Accepting a poor product (in this case a complete lack of accountability in this computer game) is your perogative but most people demand more for their money.
Response to "Oh, so the megacorp gets robbed and suddenly it's a big issue." Of course it is. Big corporations are more important because they have more people paying money. This is simple. A big corporation urging members to quit might actually get things fixed.

Quote: If someone says we've thieves, we can sit on our hands.
Yea that sucks, i know.
But the thing is, if CCP were to give out the details about this, they would be screwing over all the other people who have ever been accused of being corp theives, and possibly had their reputation wrecked in the process.
Opening forum threads in CAPS saying "OMG CCP PLEASE HELP US" after all this time doesnt change a thing. It shows that you're trying to alter the game in your own interests, and well, that sucks.
The original petition (lol) says that corp theft should be removed all together.
No thanks. I dont agree with that, I want corporate espionage to be a part of this game.
Also i cant see why you're getting all worked up about this. Its their word against yours. No proof, just a baseless forum thread. -

in addition to being able to lock things in the hangar. There really needs to be logs of stuff at least taken from the hangars, you wanna save bandwidth, sure dont keep a log of whats put in, even though i'd love to pod who keeps putting basic miners in the corp hangars ;) but in reality i would gladly trade a little extra lag for keeping a log of everythin that is removed from hangars.

There needs to be some sort of system whereby you report to concord that items have been stolen, and then you can track the guy down and pod him.
