To be fair, i do understand most the arguments posed here. I play the devils advocate both because i think more ships the better, and that it sucks ccp doesn't release more unique ships into the game. Nor do they do any events outside of the (edit:alliance) tourny anymore.
More the better, more color to the game, more history as many here would have to agree. (more chance that they become a part of the actual game, not just a trophy for one guy to buy with 500billion isk and add to his collection. Yay, awsome history. ).
Citing one (or even a few) persons investment (or loss of) is no reason to do anything. ---------- Seasons Greetings and have a Happy Alvis Time |

That's one point I definitely agree on.
The fact that a given person may have paid a certain amount of ISK for something in the past shouldn't be a consideration in any decision made one way or the other. That person paid what the item was worth at the time they bought it, they gained value from owning it and they took the calculated risk that CCP could at any time either reintroduce it for all to buy (however unlikely that may be) or remove it from the game entirely (also unlikely but possible).
If ISK is to be a factor then you might as well do away with T2->faction->officer modules only being slightly better than eachother and make it so that you can buy ships & modules that make you invulnerable if you have sufficient ISK.

It would be nice if the special ships would drop a 1 run BPC of that ship if it is destroyed. That way they could change hands and be fought over. (Until of course all are in collectors hands).

My friend, this is EVE, as it's a space oriented game, they couldn't have trolls. We have Caldari.

I would agree with the lack of need to reseed those ships in any form, were there still a possibility to get one at all.
Yet even the alliance tournament has stopped giving them out as winners prices, some tourneys ago and CCP abolished Aurora and public events including players ages ago.

Originally by: Durzel No disrespect intended but is there a reason that in a 60 second video 40 seconds are spent grandstanding with logos with the remaining time spent with a pretty lacklustre camera pan around the ship? Would be nice to see a video of the ship with some substance to it.
Maybe you should download the whole 11 mins and 17 secs long video? .
The whole thing is in the link longer up in this topic.

I like that EVE has unique and unobtainable (at least to most people) ships. I would never want it changed, no matter how much I would love to have an Imperial Apocalypse or Armageddon.

I disagree that wider release will devalue the ships already in the game. They are still "the originals", and will remain that way no matter what.
The biggest argument against releasing them would be the pretty stunning overpower they represent...its bad enough you can't swing a dead Gallente in Motsu without hitting a CNR as it is, these would inevitably reach the same point, and the flow of ISK from L4s would just get more obscene. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

I dont understand why they don't continue to give these out as prizes at tournamentsor somesuch. Giving out an additional one of each every year will not make them any less rare or unique. In a game with several million ships being flown around the galaxy (assuming each subscriber has more than one ship, which is not all that hard to believe), having even 25 of one ship still makes it pretty damned rare/unique.
Truth be told I 'd rather have something else though. Something different, something that ISN'T an existing ship hull with a different color scheme/different stats.

thats something entirely, T2 ships should be more than a hull upgrade, especially when hull like the raven are ugly, stupid and unpractical.
I still believe though they need to seed the alliance prize bs now though, its been too long.

That's not why they stopped. With the current amount of ISK available, these ships get sold for so much, that selling your tournament ships prize has the potential to influence the political landscape of New Eden. At least that was the reason they gave when the first tournament was announced without ships as prizes.
@ The guy with the "they will always be the originals" argument. LOL? Every item with type ID 12345 equals every other item with type ID 12345. You'd need to have public statements from all buyers and sellers to create a chain of posession to be even remotely able to tell which one is "the original".
Of course most holders are known right now, so we're good until it gets traded. But the holder could buy a new one, pvp with the original, and still have a valid claim to still posess the original.
There simply is no way to make them 'available yet unique' in which case unique is the far more important part considering Eve is supposed to be a persistent world.

When you reach 9.9, you're entitled to a Navy BS BPC from the Cosmos Agent. Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |
