I tried two different accounts, double checked the info, same cards i used before, one is the same one i use for this account even, but everytime i try to use either one now eve tells me this: My Account + Subscription Details + Credit Card Details + Edit Credit Card Details ERROR: Your credit card could not be validated. Card Not Authorized [0069]
now what the hell is that....is there probs with the servers now or....
i know i have the funds and the info is correct........what is the deal here

IS it a credit debit card? If so your out of luck. I used a creditcard/debitcard fine before but I cant anymore.
Answer I got from CCP was "We dont know how you used it before for the last 12 months but we do not support debit cards". Even though my debit card has a credit card logo. *shrug* i use paybycash.com and pay about 5$ more every 3 months then I normally would. Not a huge deal but I would rather pay by credit card.

I had the exact same problem so I tried not entering the last 4 digts, wich offcourse gave me another error, but after that i entered the complete number again and this time it worked, don't ask me how tho

Sheesh. This is the first case of anyone not accepting my debit card after using it for 4 years or so on purchases of many thousands of dollars.

You pay a yearly "usage" fee??
I do not want a credit card, period. I have the funds to back up my debit card and have no use what so ever for a credit card and you avoid the question of why EVE is one of the only, if not the only, MMORPG to not accept this method of payment.

hmm didn't know that, iv'e never seen a debit card with visa. i think those debit cards with the visa logo are "combined" cards wich can also be used as credit card...Hence, the visa itself is not debitted...

Now, unfortunately, there is no way for people to pay if you don't have a CC. As PayPal are the only ones to accept switch/solo, and they do not work with PBC anymore. Which makes life impossible for a lot of people.

So CCP is honestly going to loose about 1,000 players due to not accepting a debit card? Are you joking me... CCP should except them. Its not CCPs fault that people do not have the funds in their debit accounts its the responsibility of the owner to insure that they acquire the monthly funds needed for the account. If they do not have the funds needed then they should have bought the overture insurance that is available that if you go over you can pay it back without the bank slamming you with bills.
Again... CCP it is the reponsibility of the owner of that account to insure that the money is in that account each month... not yours. So fix it before we loose players over something stupid like this.
However... if you cant find another way to pay (PAY BY CASH / MAILING IS AVAILABLE) then your just as guilty as CCP. So is said. |

If you are still experiencing problems then please contact us at support and we'll try to work it out for you. Billing cases are our top priority and we always try to keep the queue empty. After we've received the information that we need from you it might take us a few days to get back to you since we need to contact our billing partner. However 5 days later i still cant log in my main account, and despite several requests to confirm whether my hybrid credit/debit card is acceptable i havent received any communication barring some requests to try reactivating and some requests for my system information.
Just out of interest i ran a few polls on how people pay thier subs on several gaming sites the results are interesting and worth looking at.
MMORPG.com results: based on 50 people voting.
1) I use a "real" credit card = 49% 2) I use a debit/credit hybrid card = 42.9% 3) I use a third party client (PayByCash) = 0% 4) I use "gametime" cards = 6.1% 5) I am put off some MMO's due to limited pay options = 2%

Hi,
I've just successfully reactivated my account using my Barclays Connect Debit Card(I'm in the UK)with a Visa logo on it which I previously used when playing Eve Online.

Well I used a creditcard/debit card "Visa" for my EVe career. Just recently it stopped working. I was forced to use my paypal account to pay paybycash.com. Now paybycash doesnt accept debit cards anymore? LOL.
CCP ALOT of people use debit cards and I bet now that even paybycash doesnt support them you will unfortunatly maybe see a lot of ****ed off people as well as a smaller subscription base.

Also considering this seems to have little bearing on the fact that the system isnt validating our credit/debit cards.
When i try reactivating my account and updating my account information. It appears the system IS NOT remembering the changes, when i go back into account management the fields are exactly as they were before the changes. Except the card number field which is completely blank.
Perhaps you guys having the same problems can confirm this with me, if we are all having the same problem then MAYBE its related to the non-validation problem.
CCP "support" i cannot be bothered to send you yet ANOTHER email on this subject as i persoanlly not heard from you now in over a day on this matter (maybe its my deservedly angry manner at not being to log in for nearly 5 DAYS now) , we'll just have to see if the GM's read this and pass the information along.

one of there main problems was billing so they lost a hefty chunk of player's over it.. I was one of them and i knew 12 people had the same problems so we stopped playing.... To think u not even told the player's about it.... Wy not start shooting holes in your only boat while your at it..

Recently discovered this game, tried out the trial, decided to pay, and ran into this problem. I only have 1 day left on my trial, and I'm assuming that when the time is up without paying, my characters will be lost. Two weeks may not be anything impressive to the people who've played for months, but it's still an extremely annoying waste of time, not to mention a bomb aimed at CCP's face when it risks lose a HUGE amount of those 14-trials they've been handing out.
I've tried a few different cards now with the same result. On a side note, I find it odd that putting a () around my phone numbers area code is considered special characters. Who knows how many of those trials have already run their course before I started mine? A lot of people will be angry at that wasted time. Not only will it bring the ire of longtime players, but what was potentially a mass of hundreds of new players through those trials will become hundreds of bitter people telling their friends not to bother. You people in charge need this problem fixed, and fixed NOW.
And pardon my newness, but to the other players who seem more likely to respond: Is there, in fact, any way to spare what time I've put into it? Or are my characters doomed in one day's time?

As far as i know your characters should be kept inactive for up to 6 months from non-reactivation for whatever reason, im not entirely sure that counts with 2 weeks accounts, but thats what happens with subscribed/bought accounts anyway.
As for the problems your having, we are all completely none the wiser on this problem, CCP support still haven't had the courtesy to reply to at least my problems (with my main account) in over a week. Also as you can see there hasnt been any meaningful official response to this problem either in this thread or on the site as a whole. CCP seems to be completely IGNORING this thread, i dont blame them either, lots of angry people who just want to give them some money FFS...if this is the future for CCP/EVE, then they'll be going the way of EnB and the bloody DoDo very soon as people leave in droves. I'd tried going to the form through other routes, but all with the same result, but I hadn't tried that *exact* sequence to get there, and it worked for me too. I can't imagine why that is, since it's the same form, but hopefully if it worked for us it might work for others who read this.

I pay using my Debit Card (VISA Logo) this has always been treated as a credit card or a debit card. (I'm in the US). For places that explicity say no debit cards accepted but they accept VISA, my card works just fine. I've never had any issues with it. I seem to recall that when the Iceland credit card incident occured several months ago, you gave those people affected a "grace" period to allow them to get ingame while the problem was being sorted out.
I think that is applicable in this case, considering the lost training time, and it would go good faith on CCP's part.

I think its something to do with having two accounts. I was having trouble paying with visa debit card too so i just kept on trying different ways and eventually it worked but did take a good few goes. Just keep trying is my advice. Good Luck

It seems they don't care at all... But i'll explain my case too !
I've got a "debit card" VISA premium, up to 1500euros a day all over the world. Except for eve online...
I got same issue : "ERROR: Your credit card could not be validated, please check all fields and try again. "
A friend of mine submit me the idea to pay with his american express which work with eve (his card usually not work online except on amazon.com) ! But i will not bother a friend for a game.
I'm gonna explain why this issue is happening, just in case ccp would be interested (what i don't think so).
For most euro VISA cards, since something like 1 year, you need to enter a control number written behind the card. So to be clear, you need : your credit card number + exp. date + a 3 digit number written behind your card. Hello,
It seems they don't care at all... But i'll explain my case too !
I've got a "debit card" VISA premium, up to 1500euros a day all over the world. Except for eve online...
I got same issue : "ERROR: Your credit card could not be validated, please check all fields and try again. "
A friend of mine submit me the idea to pay with his american express which work with eve (his card usually not work online except on amazon.com) ! But i will not bother a friend for a game.
I'm gonna explain why this issue is happening, just in case ccp would be interested (what i don't think so).
For most euro VISA cards, since something like 1 year, you need to enter a control number written behind the card. So to be clear, you need : your credit card number + exp. date + a 3 digit number written behind your card. Eve-online do not ask the 3 digits (all other paiement systems online ask it) so the paiement isnt accepted, of course...
And please do not answer me : "just use a credit card"... Because i don't need to buy things with "credit" !

No, that is not the problem with the extra digits. They changed something, dunno what. I join the club too. My card expired last month and wanted to change the exp date but wont accept my new info. Oh well it seems that my time will end in Nov...was fun till lasted:(
I dont get why they chagned the whole thing.

please explain how one removes the billing information. as far as i can tell it is impossible. i clear the fields and reenter stuff, but ccp has saved the previous information and just resets it to that. it doesn't seem to update at all.

Why dont you try to create a new account from scratch? See if it goes through the billing. If it does then the problem is with extending the trial to a real account.

I really dislike the fact that if we don't have an active account that we can't post to a thread. I gave in and used paybycash, but I don't want to use it more than 1 month. If Eve can't resolve their billing issues within that month, they will get no more of my money. I'd love to get a 6 month account, but only with my visa. If Eve can't resolve its billing issues by then, I'll take my hard earned money elsewhere.

Well I have been using American Express for ages without a problem until now. :(

I checked with Amex and they said that the payment request was presented and then REVERSED by the BILLING people .. not rejected by Amex as all is ok with my account!! 
They checked my July statement and saw that this had happened loads of times last month before the payment request finally reached my account to be paid. If that isn't a problem with the billing system i don't know what is!!
I also trade a lot on e-bay (not eve stuff before you start! ) so thought I would use my Paypal account just this once so I could continue to play whilst this was sorted.
Went through ok until the Paypal details came up when it said I was a new user with ú12.00 in my account and unverified!! ... I have only been using it for about 2 years and have been verified almost as long and the balance is slightly more than ú12.00 I can assure you!! ( Did you spot the sarcasm there? )
Come on CCP get your act together or a lot of people will walk even if they don't want to.

I just got hit with this tonight. I played the free trial, and after a week I decided I liked the game so well that I'd play 2 aco****s on 2 machines, so I fired up a 2nd trial account. Now here's what makes this so frustrating:
About a week ago I payed for my 1st account with my Visa card with no troubles at all. Tonight my 2nd trial account expired, and the VERY card that worked just fine a week ago will ont go through tonight. I've tried the suggested fixes here to no avail. Why would it work last week and not tonight?
This is very aggravating, and I hope it gets fixed very soon. I've tailored my characters to work together, I'm not happy about losing half the team.  |

Interestingly enough, I was able to start the free 14 day trial from MMORPG.com and started to play.
I hope they will at least respond to my support request before that time. I would have preferred to react my old account rather than starting a new one. But...who knows...maybe this one will be dead in two weeks anyhow. 
And... yes..I did try the suggestions in the Credit Card problem threads...they don't work.

I got mine to work too just now. I did what Nigni said :
Few minutes ago i decide to try again but using my account itself, dont click oin the big logo "modify an existing account". Go to account management then click on subscription details. your account should be inactive just click on the link near payment type and fill the form. And voila its working....
However I had petitioned the problem this weekend so maybe they are the one who fixed it, who knows... If you guys didn't fixe my problem then I suggest you look into why the steps above worked and the Extend link didn't .

I'm sorry, but we don't have a phone number you can call. The problem is lies with our credit card servie providor. We need those information we asked about earlier, then we can contact our service provider and clear this with them.
I have opened your account for 10 days, that ought to be enough time for us to fix this. If you can now send us the information we need:
1. The last six digits of your credit card number
2. The type of card (VISA or Mastercard)
3. The name of the bank which issued the card
4. The expiry date of the card
If you can recall the error you got when you tried registering the account, it could also be of help.

This game is absolutely doomed to fail, no matter how great it might be. When the company is this indifferent about making it easy for customers to open an account, how could they possibly care about anything else?
I tried to extend my trial account also, after cancelling the account I ordered through Gamespy because of more "customer unfriendliness". CCP gave me no way of adding my new account key to my trial account, so I had to cancel it. They could have simply had a spot on the account page, where you enter an account key from a purchase or an actual CD case, that converts your trial account to subscription, but once again, they could care less. They're response time for customer support is estimated at 3 to 4 days right now. WHAT??? Are you kidding me? This has to be the absolute worst customer service I have ever heard of, and with such a small subscriber base, there is simply no excuse.
After cancelling the other account, I tried using my Mastercard debit card, that I have used to play virtually every MMOG out there, and it said your credit card could not be verified. Is this a joke? Do you people at CCP honestly want to block future subscribers like this? This initial post is well over a month old now, and there is still not a single resolution to the problem from CCP. Absolutely unacceptable. If I were running CCP, I would immediately fire everyone even remotely involved in billing or the credit card transaction department, and get some real professionals to streamline the interface, and actually accept debit cards. You know, bring in a customer friendly system that companies that actually want to be successful and make money use. The people running the billing are probably costing the company 10 times their salaries per year in lost subscriptions, because of their sheer incompetence.
How do you expect your game to survive for even one more year, when you lose possibly hundreds of thousands in revenue in accounts that never switched from trial because of this problem that you choose to ignore. How many people I wonder, tried to extend their account, had the same problem, and just simply said forget it, without even asking for help? I would bet in the hundreds. Many, many people use debit cards exclusively, to make their online transactions with. To force people to use a credit card, or pay in inconvienient and more expensive ways is ludicrous.
The MMOG market is getting larger and larger each month. I want to stick with a community, where the people running the game do a tremendous job of attracting and retaining subscribers. Good customer support and service is also crucial for me, and many other gamers. I don't see either happening here, and it's a shame. I talked to a GM in game earlier about my problem, he gave me absolutely zero advice or help, said to submit my problem to the eve website, and the response time is 3 to 4 days. I told him my trial expired today though, and he says, have a nice day. Arrogance and incompetence, great what a combo. How do the people that create these games, decide on the support and payment/subscription staff? These people obviously care zero about the game, and only about their personal paycheck. Get some people in there that care.
It looks like I'll be bidding a fond farewell to Eve over this, because I am not subscribing if I can't use my debit card. It depresses me too, because I was more excited about this MMOG, than any I have tried in the last several months. If the company is this indifferent about me being a paying customer though, and offers no way for me to easily turn my trial account into a subscription account, why should I care about ever paying them?

This has to be the absolute worst customer service I have ever heard of, and with such a small subscriber base, there is simply no excuse.
After cancelling the other account, I tried using my Mastercard debit card, that I have used to play virtually every MMOG out there, and it said your credit card could not be verified. Is this a joke? Do you people at CCP honestly want to block future subscribers like this? This initial post is well over a month old now, and there is still not a single resolution to the problem from CCP. Absolutely unacceptable. If I were running CCP, I would immediately fire everyone even remotely involved in billing or the credit card transaction department, and get some real professionals to streamline the interface, and actually accept debit cards. You know, bring in a customer friendly system that companies that actually want to be successful and make money use. The people running the billing are probably costing the company 10 times their salaries per year in lost subscriptions, because of their sheer incompetence.
How do you expect your game to survive for even one more year, when you lose possibly hundreds of thousands in revenue in accounts that never switched from trial because of this problem that you choose to ignore. How many people I wonder, tried to extend their account, had the same problem, and just simply said forget it, without even asking for help? I would bet in the hundreds. Many, many people use debit cards exclusively, to make their online transactions with. To force people to use a credit card, or pay in inconvienient and more expensive ways is ludicrous.
The MMOG market is getting larger and larger each month. I want to stick with a community, where the people running the game do a tremendous job of attracting and retaining subscribers. Good customer support and service is also crucial for me, and many other gamers. I don't see either happening here, and it's a shame. I talked to a GM in game earlier about my problem, he gave me absolutely zero advice or help, said to submit my problem to the eve website, and the response time is 3 to 4 days. I told him my trial expired today though, and he says, have a nice day. Arrogance and incompetence, great what a combo. How do the people that create these games, decide on the support and payment/subscription staff? These people obviously care zero about the game, and only about their personal paycheck. Get some people in there that care.
It looks like I'll be bidding a fond farewell to Eve over this, because I am not subscribing if I can't use my debit card. It depresses me too, because I was more excited about this MMOG, than any I have tried in the last several months. If the company is this indifferent about me being a paying customer though, and offers no way for me to easily turn my trial account into a subscription account, why should I care about ever paying them?

Hmmm, I wonder if they do have "billing staff" or if it is supposed to be fully automated so they don't have to hire anyone specifically for that? It could be that everyone has been working on Shiva and the Castor instability problems, and answering petitions by the hundreds and not leaving time for solving this. I've not heard any mention of dedicated staff to this issue, and I suspect that might be part of the problem.
I also suspect that their whole billing system is buggy, and it's not just one problem. I've seen several different solutions posted, and they all work for some people. What is so frustrating is that we have to do this troubleshooting for them. Did they write the code for the billing system themselves or buy it from a vendor? And if it came from a vendor, what kind of support came with it, or was it "as is"? Things to consider for anyone thinking about starting up an internet-based business.
Also, I used to sell Thompson Consumer Electronics products (RCA etc). For everyone ready to bash CCP for having no customer service number, I will tell you that TCE and many others no longer have telephone numbers for this. I looked literally for days trying to find them for customers, but even tremendously large corps have done away with them. So CCP is not alone at relegating customer service to email only. This does not excuse them and they must still answer to a rightfully upset customer base, but it shows that this is not a "small corp" issue exclusively.

I take it you never played Everquest 
I had a 3 year-old character just disappear from my EQ account one day and it took them a MONTH to get it fixed, and that was with me calling their long distance "support" number every few days (and no, I wasn't reimbursed for lost time). 3-4 days for a petition response is nothing to me, in EQ the prevailing wisdom was "don't even bother petitioning" 
EDIT: I had the same credit card problem when I activated my trials, BTW. It was fixed in 2-3 days for me. Not bad at all in the opinion of a former SOE victim.
