It is speculation, you should really read up on why everything is increasing, alloys being removed from game, alloys one of the main source of nocxium in the game, no alloys = less nocxium = more mining = increase in price of nocxium.
So myself and hundreds of others pretty much bought every unit of nocxium and isogen in the game, to bump the prices up to sell and make a huge profit.... speculation! |

Mining & ship building isn't any more profitable now that it was 6 months ago on average. It's wasn't just ship prices that increased the minerals increased as well. With the rapid price increases in some cases you can buy ships & reprocess them to profit.
Miners & ship builders might selling their items for more ISK but it doesn't mean they are making any more profit than they did in the past aside from maybe random items that spike faster than the average, but I'd suspect it's not miners & builders getting those profits but rather market guys. |

Wait, so what you're saying is that inflation is having no effect on your at all, right? Why are you complaining?
How about this one: Mine 100 units sell them get 200 mil buy a BPO whose price has NOT changed, build the ship yourself then fly it/sell it to other players.
Ahh no, you're stuck in this model: Kill a rat, get 1/2 the bounty you used to get a month ago due to the bounty nerf, pay twice as much for ships thanks to inflation.

Hmmm, I spent my first several years in Eve rocking cruisers and BCs so I guess I wasn't paying attention. I was probably also in 0.0 with the typical skewed sense of cost. I do remember being shocked as hell when I came back from a break to find Tier 2 BCs at ~25M instead of ~45M.

While I am loathe to agree with an allcaps badposter, yes, Mining does need some sprucing up. Botting is a symptom of unfun gameplay.
I saw a screenshot of mining that will supposedly use something like the probing UI, have scan down mineral veins in asteroids and then use mining lasers and drones on them -- was that fake, or is that something CCP is working on?
As for the market flux, it will calm down when Inferno hits -- just in time for Jitageddon to cause it all to go to hell. I do not know your playstyle but for the time being I would suggest the Goon Newbie's Motto: Never fly what you can't afford to lose. |

I got to agree with the OP here.
For most players the core of EvE is blowing ships up and getting their ships blown up. And the majority of players don't want to spend their valuable gaming time looking at roids. It is totally cool with me that roiders get more isk but don't force people to do stuff they don't want to do.
Maybe scaling insurance with the buy price of a ship could ease the pain of those that like to phew phew.

I think the phrase "adapt or die" holds true here.
You can either (a) reduce demand by flying something cheaper or (b) help increase supply by going out and gathering resources or (c) pay someone else or (d) figure out supplemental income streams.
Also, prices for minerals can't go much higher or mining will be a better income per hour then mission running and anoms. If anoms are paying out X per hour and mining in null-sec passes that X per hour number, then at least some people will switch from anoms to mining. |

Meta 0 items will no longer drop -- anything that you can make via blueprint BPOs will no longer drop off rats in game.
The thing is, these meta 0 drops were almost always refined into raw ore, which will be removed from the economy, at the same time drone alloys will be removed from the economy as well. However, the Meta 0 drops are apparently being replaced with Metal Scrap drops.
What Drew doesn't realize is these aren't the traditional Metal Scraps, but new ones that refine into different minerals than just Trit.
Combine this with the botters being banned en mass and you're about to see a perfect storm: "Peak Ore" is about to hit. All the cheap sources of minerals in the game are vanishing, meaning that people are actually going to have to work for things. And like we saw when Goons went after the Ice Bots, lots of things are balanced right now based on EULA violations.
Should be interesting. Definitely a good time to be a market botter. Er, I mean, "Market Enthusiast." |

The nly thing I saw regarding the metal scraps was from Grayscale which pointed to the use of existing scraps the same as when BS meta 0 loot was removed:
CCP Greyscale wrote:Due to the way that the loot tables are set up internally, it's *substantially* easier** to replace loot rather than remove it, so the solution we're going with for now is swapping all the Meta 0 stuff for metal scraps (the 0.01m3 version) |

If the money supply is constant, the a rise in the price of one good has to correspond with lower prices of another good (zero sum game)
If the money supply is growing, then the price of everything can go up simultaneously. (positive sum game)

DRONE BOUNTIES $$$ And then CCP is decreasing bounties across the board. *argument negated* thought the blog said incursions, http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=28587 vanguard sites were being reduced by 10%... did i miss the blog saying all bounties were being reduced?
Yes you did miss it because it aint in the DEV blogs just mentioned in a interview with CCP Soundwave & Ten Ton Hammer interview that he's prepared to do it in a reactive mode. He said he may do the bounty nerf later in the year but I expect he'll have of move it up if things continue as they are & there is no bubble burst ( if there really is a bubble the jury is out on that ) An' then [email protected], he come scramblin outta the Terminal room screaming "The system's crashing! Inflation is a long term average, not a short term spike by speculation and meta-gaming.
Also, inflation takes into account all avenues of profit, not just ratting/missioning. If PvE ratters start making less relative money, but miners start making more, such that it evens out, then there is no inflation.
The market is just very volatile right now, which is fun. Same boring market is not fun. It will level out. Now is the time to make money.
Every time someone use to say "minerals are fine" when miners were saying "minerals are too cheap", now the tables have turned and all I hear is QQ.
A recent dev blog during fan fest has show an over all 1%/year inflation since Eve started, with some cycles of deflation. |

IN THE LONG RUN: 1) Mission runners are relatively unaffected, as mission running ships are capital assets. New players might have to wait longer before they can buy their level 4 mission running battleship, but once the ship is purchased and fit their only expenditure really is ammunition.
2) As prices increase, smaller and cheaper T1 ships gain a comparative advantage over more expensive large T1 ships or expensive T2 ships. This makes new players more competitive in PvP which can only be a good thing, IMO.
3) Suicide ganking will become more expensive, which will make mining more attractive. This won't stop suicide ganking campaigns which are sponsored by large 0.0 alliances with a strong logistics/industrial backbone (and not to mention technetium moons).
4) Players involved in "material creation" gain a competitive advantage over middle men (such as myself) who buy raw materials and process them into consumer goods. This is because rising prices generally squeeze profit margins. The "material creation" activities which are going to become more competitive are: 1) Mining 2) Moon mining 3) PI P1 production 4) Gas mining 5) Salvaging 6) Sleepers 7) Ratting for faction/officer/complex items 8) LP harvesting 9) Datacore harvesting 10) Archeology/hacking 11) COSMOS missions (lol)

AWESOME SO MUCH MORE MONEY FOR MINERS!
If you mined for 3 hours to buy a ship before, and you mine for 3 hours to buy the same ship now, what's the problem? It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Demand for said ships will reduce as the ships become relatively more expensive for those with fixed incomes from missions/etc. As demand goes down, prices drop. In the long run, you will mine less to afford said ships.
Also, ship costs are lagging behind mineral costs. It is quite possible to take advantage of higher mineral values before the ships go up in price, giving an effectively higher income. |

That ship has sailed, arrived at its destination, made a return trip, and has set sail a 2nd time already.
Mineral prices on the high-ends retreated mid-week as speculators cashed out. They might go up again, but the prices are already, in my opinion, pretty close to where they'll end up come July. Unless you manage to catch one of the short-duration supply-crunch waves come early May, you're not going to turn over more then a 10-30% profit on whatever you buy today. |

The effect on the market from past HAGs is a mixed-bag.
HAG 4 was Feb 2011 HAG 3 was Jul 2010 HAG2 was Feb 2010
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/34#2
HAG 4 - drove Trit up about 25% in value (3.00 to about 3.75) HAG 3 - small effect, Trit prices continued to drop HAG 2 - had no effect on Trit (maybe a 5% rise)
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/35
HAG 4 - Pye went from 4.50 up to 5.00 HAG 3 - caused a small bump on the market as Pye dropped from 7 to 3.5 HAG 2 - Pye went from 6.7 to 7.1
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/36
HAG 4 - Mex went from 29 to 30 HAG 3 - Mex went from 26 up to 35 (35%) HAG 2 - Mex went from 28 to 31
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/37
HAG 4 - Isogen went from 64 to 73 (14%) HAG 3 - Isogen went from 50 to 60 HAG 2 - 53 to 56
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/38
HAG 4 - Nocx went from 560 to 532 (oops!) HAG 3 - 123 to about 128 HAG 2 - 97 to 82 (oops!)
So, HAG5 will have some effect, but it's simply not big enough of an event do do more then slightly dent the market. Based on past history, you will probably see about a 25% bump in low-end mineral costs, but that could be a lot less if there isn't a lot of participation. |

Well, that-¦s all nice data. But it-¦s from a time when there was a big drone and gun "mining" community to dampen the effect.
Also, compared to the old ones this Hulkageddon has some very interesting added incentives. I also don-¦t believe the speculators are quite done with the market yet. |

Personally, I like the idea of the inflation, it will be especially good for nullsec. At least players like me who are more for having a little block of space, cheap fun and the ability for new powers to get places. As prices go up, the massive tier3 fleets will fade and start seeing more lower cost combat. fleets in battlecruisers and hopefully soon cruisers back into combat. Not sure what other changes will show, but more expensive industry means smaller powerblocks I would think. |

Yep I'm resigned to the fact we're going to see a HUGE inflation spike & this ain't a speculators bubble. I don't know how much of this was intended to shake things up but its about to become an economics lesson. I wonder at what point the Hulkageddon suicides drive prices up to where somethings gotta give or we get atrue Inferno of the markets with ships An' then [email protected], he come scramblin outta the Terminal room screaming "The system's crashing! It's not like the roid belts are fading and you still getting the same mineral yeald from mining. Just get a BPO and a mining barge and make the junk your self. And leave the market to implode.
This is the great mineral crunch of 2012-¬. We should party hard.
