Ship alignment tool.
A feature that would allow easily to turn the ship around, like aligning to celestial object for warp or something, useful also in making some trick-movies and stuff :)
Simple idea, in the 'align' mode, place camera on the nose of the ship, user moves mouse around, and ships nose will be headed in the direction that the camera points. SOmething like first person movement, very usefull :) -- Portfolio (currently .PL only) - nestor.art.pl

1. "add waypoint 1" and "set destination" in right-click menus are redundant ... please rejigger logic so that "insert as waypoint 1" puts this system in as the first (current) destination. This will be lots more useful, as it doesn't delete the rest of your waypoints in queue.
2. Escrows ... "issued by me" is only of use to those few who have tens to hundreds of escrows out there. "assigned to me" or to my corp would be far more useful to the vast majority of us.
And, please make the dang escrow system work. The current limitation on the number of escrows displayed (or whatever the problem is) frequently means that escrows specifically assigned to me can't be seen until I actually arrive in the target system.
Perhaps this could be achieved by providing a means to limit the list by price range, or item type.
Many thanks,

Edited by: Nestor Ne'Arthe on 26/07/2004 16:35:40 Optimalisation again..
On my puter (1700+, 512ddr, r9600xt) disabling sound ctrl-alt-shift-f12 increases the framerate by around 5-10 fps, even though that the only sounds playing are the humming of the engine and weapon noises. I know that decoding mp3/ogg in an optimal way is hard to code, but its doable, vide winamp :)
It is very important to tune the game to the mid-low sector.
Also, try putting some polygon-count cap on the - i believe - random generated roids. Entering asteroid field means about 10 second pause on my machine. With bigger battles it gets heavier.. And i think that making low-poly roids wont dissapoint the players.. :) -- Portfolio (currently .PL only) - nestor.art.pl

Some things I noticed being fresh out of the University.
The ability to drag an item icon onto the interface from my cargo hold. So when I want to reload ammo, warp out quick, or control a specific drone I can just hit my icon. Sort of like shortcuts but function as if they were the item in question.
So if I drag my ammo icon onto my hybrid turret it will reload.
Mostly there are a few things I use a lot and I don't like to shuffle through the cargo hold to find what I want. Especially when things move around through use or loot.
Of course there might be an easier way that I am missing... |

We need an assets search function. Its a pain to find something once the stations exceed 100 or so. Either make it like escrow where you can see everything in a table with location, or add a simple search like in the market.
Right now I sometimes spend an hour to find something in my assets, its painful with 500 stations. |

Or a better idea would be to add a list of check boxes to the left hand side - then have a reprocess/refine all button at the bottom ..
Would save lots of time Slayerman --------- Freedom Technologies Director of Production

Salvage drones: Can pick up loot cans from destroyed NPC's
Scout Drones: Can be deployed to other systems and relay info back to you on possible gate camping activity.
Decoy Drones: Can be deployed to take some of the heavy fire you are receiving from NPC's or PVP'ers (Sacrificing themselves)

what about a double screen system, allowing to play with 2 screens and places all those chat/bay/fellow/scanner/etc windows on the other screen? this would realy help being able to see something on the UI, especialy during actions with lots off informations (and being able to enjoy the graphics of the game :) )
all modules at the same time, drones counters, shortuc or button for common actions (orbit, approach), and weapons group for reload or ammo changes sounds interesting ideas too

Guys - stick to topic please. This is UI *only* meaning don't go about drones or whatever.
RMB is too clogged up. Half the time it's useless.
Celestial objects (Planets etc) should only have Approach (Warp To if far) for RMB.
Star Gates should only have Approach (Warp To if far) along with Jump and Look At
Ore should only have Approach (Warp To if far),Show Info and Remember Location, Lock
Another thing - if it is one bookmark in the same system then do not make a submenu -> warp to but rather make it warp to once you click from "main" menu. One click - make things simple
Another thing, make it easier to lock multiple targets - right now its just pathetic ---------------------- I make up with stupidity for the rest of my corporation.

Oh, I completely overlooked this thread as I made my original topic. So, here it is copied and pasted into this thread that directly relates to it:
I am still acclimating to the interface, and maybe I've missed this somehow, but I would love to see an expanded hotkey customization feature that allows you to program specific destinations that you visit most frequently.
This would be especially convenient for ore hauling, or just to have a key that regularly returns you back to a station your corporation has an office at. I'm not talking about being able to bookmark these destinations, but something far more streamlined.
Another feature that I'd love to see is a new UI for the Dock Items feature. As an example, I use my cruiser for both battle and mining, so I'd love to be able to make a folder for each ship configuration that I could put my items into, perhaps similar to the Folders interface on the People and Places UI. Maybe an even more refined idea of that would be to be able to "save" your ship configurations, so that you could just load a configuration based on the items you have stored in your Dock area. Sometimes my Mining lasers and various Capacitors that power them get scrambled up with some of the other items I bring back after looting pirate cargo. eventually it turns into a daunting task to sort it all out to reconfigure my ship from battle mode to mining mode and back again.
