I'm in the midway between the both ships, but i cannot get them at the same time, which do you suggest i should get first, i dont have huge amounts of skill points un gunnery but i am able to manage 8 heavy drones and abs, and also i have a thorax to provide me with nice ways to get money (although not huge amounts of money) -----------------------------

If you can't afford to buy both at the same time, you can't afford the dominix at all. Go with the taranis until you have at least ship cost + insurance cost + 10M for equipment and at least 20 mil in reserve if you want to feel a litle "safe".

Maybe i can seem a carebear but, im trying to make the pvp the last thing to try in this game, if i fight, i only fight against npc rats in empire (0.1-0.8) (.9 are not worth trying to search for hideouts)
if can someone tell me of non-extreme dangerous free of alliance 0.0 systems that can i go to hunt for a couple of hours, i will thank you -----------------------------

Edited by: Ishtari on 18/07/2004 21:05:19 On your hunting question Do agent kill missions. No need to search rats and the higher level agent the harder they get also better reward. Best part agents almost never send you into security < theirs -0.2.
Interceptors are at the moment so expensive that insurance is a very low pay out and you ll loose it eventually. I d say get a gooed cruiser for the same price to hunt in until you can afford a domi. Maybe interceptor uses disagree on this.
Domi s are really underrated ships with that 6/5/7 slot setting and huge drone bay they are the most versatile ships you can get. And contrary to what some say you hit a frigate with dual 250 railguns as long as you keep them at range and if they get close use your drones ;). I m doing level 3 kill missions in a domi and get at worse a bit of shield damage.
In pvp things might be different, but I m a non pvp person.

fitting a taranis with anything other than hybrids is kind of a waste of a ship - you'l miss out on the ship's bonuses (with blasters its about the most damaging frigate you can get your hands on)
If you were really set on using lasers for whatever reason you should look at a crusader really . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Using lasers on a ship with good hybrid bonuses seems like a waste to me.
Got my taranis this week, its awesome :P
Hard to say what kind of rats you might be able to take down without knowing your skills, if you have enginering skills to fit good modules and the gunnery and navigation skills to properly use em, you could kick some ass,
Y helo thar

about agent missions i could do them with hybrid because i return always to a station and buy the ammo there, but hunting rats i cannot carry a large amount of ammo so i was wondering about using lasers and dealing with 60k rats as maximum -----------------------------

Apple or Orange? Well, more like grape or watermelon, but still. Figure out what you need to do and get the ship for that.

Using anything not hybrid on a taranis is wasting a 66% damage bonus. Just isn't a good plan. A frigate can hold a lot of ammo so it shouldn't really be a problem. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I really wouldnt worry about not having enough ammo. Small Hyb ammo takes up so little room it dont matter.

I've had my taranis take out spawns of up to 500k BSes. The only real problem I've faced has been the Elite Frigates that accompany them sometimes and in these circumstances, I chose the next asteroid belt.
Also, I carry 3/4 cargo full of ammo typically and so far, I have never run out so there is no need to sacrifice your damage bonus for lasers.
The only thing to be careful of is orbiting too close to a BS that fires missiles as you might take a few hits (which is how I lost my first taranis).
On average, I was hitting for about 100 damage with my highest wrecking shot @ 217.0.
In my opinion, go for the taranis as it is more fun to fly than the Domi. You should be able to solo almost as well @ NPC and you get around a lot faster.
As others have said though, it depends on what you want your ship to do but you could fit out about 6 taranis for the price of your domi. I usually fight a long range BS setup and I am pretty sure that the damage on my taranis is a lot more than my BS.
