You need to consider the cost of repairs to similar services in ≡v≡ before you call it outrageously overpriced.
There's no "full PVP" in a 1.0 system, and I already compared the price to a similar service: a 10,000 ISK module. What's the point of having a 5 million ISK service that does the same as a 10,000 ISK module if not to trick people into using it once and never again?
Originally by: Tippia For instance, is the repair cost for 99% damage less than the cost of a new ship? If so, it's not an unreasonable price. Is the repair cost for any given amount of damage less than if you were to use nanite paste? If so, it's not unreasonable.
Do you sell ships rather than tanking them? I don't, that's just a silly idea. Armor tanking you repair armor, shield tanking you repair shield. Nanite paste is for modules FYI, none of mine were overheated or damaged.
You forgot wardecs.
undocking and running hull reps for 5 minutes isn't really an option then, is it?

Yes there is. It's everywhere in ≡v≡. Everything you do in this game is in competition with other players. If you need to get to "the thing" before "the other guy", the (supposedly) high price for that speed might turn out to be the best investment you've ever made — you're prepped, repped and ready to go at the click of a button; he still has to wait through 20 more rep cycles before he can set off (and god help him if those are hull rep cycles).
Quote: I already compared the price to a similar service: a 10,000 ISK module.
That's not a service — that's a way to pay in time, rather than cash. Again, time is worth a lot in this game since it allows you to get there first…
Quote: What's the point of having a 5 million ISK service that does the same as a 10,000 ISK module if not to trick people into using it once and never again?
Because sometimes, 5mil is a drop in the bucket compared to loss of sitting around for 5 minutes waiting.
Quote: Do you sell ships rather than tanking them? I don't, that's just a silly idea.
Doesn't matter how silly it is — it's a point of comparison for replacing all those lost hitpoints. As long as you can do it cheaper by repairing than by just buying a new ship, the cost of repairs is justified.
No sig for me, thankyouverymuch. |

Btw: before you hit the repair button, it clearly states the costs of the repair. But I guess you just hit the repair button before giving it a thought or 2, amiright?
That 5 mil. you lost because you didn't pay attention to the game. its your own damn fault. Its what countless noobs learn after they rapidly clicked away the warning screen just before they entered low sec and got blown up.

The point being that the service is there for people who do need to use it. No-one forced you to use it instead of spending time with a repper. No-one forced you to click "OK" without checking the price. No-one forced you to subscribe to a game where your pay for your careless mistakes.
You screwed up, and it cost you a trivial sum of ISK. Deal with it.

If you bothered to read the post you wouldn't have to ask. Obviously I assumed that no game dev would up a repair price in a safe zone to insane amounts that would deter anyone from ever using it. I thought wrong, and I issued my complaint. Any more questions?

I never said anyone forced me, so why do you keep repeating that? My post is there to read, I never implied anyone forced me to do anything. That doesn't mean the price isn't insanely high to a point of uselessness. As you can see I am dealing with it.

What the hell is a "PVP zone"?! No such thing in ≡v≡, I'm afraid. Here, it's all PvP, all the time… even in stations.

I don't know if the petition is even sent in, it doesn't list one when I click the petition button. If people on this forum were more helpful then maybe I could answer your question.

Drop the sentiment. Nobody is blowing up my ship in a station, and CONCORD exists within .5 and above. This is all common knowledge. 1.0 isn't FFA PVP space. I could sit outside a station for 5 days and nobody is going to attack me. I'm in an NPC corp in 1.0 space, I'm the safest carebear in the world.

Heh. Welcome to ≡v≡ — hope you'll have a nice stay…
Your ship may be safe in station, but someone might still rob you blind. You're also continually losing out on opportunities seized by other players. As soon as you log in… no wait… as soon as you pay that subscription fee, you are engaging in PvP 24/7. Not all of it ends up in things blowing up, but you are in a 100% competetive environment here — there is no such thing as a "non PvP" zone, and consequently, no such thing as a "PvP zone" either.
CONCORD exists to put a price on attacks in high-sec; they don't prevent them. As it is, 1.0 is completely FFA, if you're willing to pay the price (decs or lost ships). The only reason you don't get attacked during those 5 days is because you're a worthless target.

But people do use it. I have often used it. I don't use it when the cost becomes worth more than the time required to refit, undock, rep, refit and carry on. If I just need to rep up 2% armour on my CNR, it's not worth the time for me to do all that, so I just pay. If I screw up and and take 60% structure damage then yeah, I fit a rack of reps and wait 10 minutes rather than pay 30M.
As for "too expensive", it costs what it costs. You suck at making ISK (1M/hr? LOL) so your time is worth much less; a 250k repair bill would easily be worth switching to reppers for. I make 20M/hr missioning, so paying 1.5M to save the hassle is fine for me.
tl;dr: stop being poor, stop whining, and stop expecting to be protected from your own mistakes.

It is good advice. Everything in EvE costs money. The more money you have, the more stufff you can do.
If you're making 1M/hr then you're terrible at whatever it is you're doing. Since you've taken damage, I'm assuming you're missioning. I'd be more than happy to give you advice on how to earn far more than 1M/hr doing that.

I don't trust your "advice", you're probably just trying to scam me out of my ISK. I only have 6.5b left and its disappearing 5 million repair cost at a time.

No, it isn't. You need to retake the tutorial.
…and you need to figure out what "FFA" means. If I decide that I want to pop you in 1.0, I can and will, and the game won't stop me. It will punish me by imposing a rather nasty cost on my actions through the loss of ships, but it will not stop me from actually performing those actions.
Granted, Jita isn't 1.0, but if you want to get a sense of how "safe" highsec is, I suggest you spend an afternoon outside 4-4 and watch the fireworks, both in space and in local.

More than likely I would say. After all, there are many meanings to things like "worth" and "value", and they differ from people to people. Here, we're discussing the value of time, but I admit to knowing many unsavory characters who value "BOOM", "SPLAT!" and lulz higher than any amount of ISK…

How is it not supported? How does it keep me from attacking you? How does it keep me from killing you? How does it keep me from looting and salvaging your wreck?
Quote: There are enough deterrents to effectively make it a safe zone. CONCORD is strong. Aside from fringe suicide ganking the only PVP that exists there is official war dec. That's not FFA.
Deterrents and being "effectively" safe does not make it any less FFA — it only increases the cost (and as you have just learned, everything in ≡v≡ comes at a cost). If FFA wasn't supported, the game wouldn't even allow me to fire my weapons (much less allow me pay cash to ignore the penalty system).
