On my very first lvl 4 mission following happened: Another player started salvaging my wrecks, claiming this is legal.
How can it be? Someone is stealing by salvaging, your ships and You cant do NOTHING than destroy your own wrecks.
Can someone from CCP confirm if this is correct so I can decide to leave game or not?
thanks

Originally by: GM Faolchu It is perfectly within the rules of the game for someone to enter your mission area and steal the loot/salvage from the mission NPCs. If they happen to also steal the mission specific loot again this is within the rules of the game, it is a harsh circumstance but it is allowed. Eve is a harsh place and there are often things that happen to you that are not perceived as being entirely 'fair'.
Stuff, gimme kthxbye

I must admit I never have understood how stealing the salvage is different from stealing other loot. There should be a blink red timer on that, just as regular stealing. But at the same time I also think that other peoples wrecks should be open for tractor beaming.

CCP made it clear salvage does not belong to anybody. and anybody can salvage.
so, working as intended.
edit: PS: feel free to salvage, dont let others tell you is blah blah blah....the worst they can do is warp out and let aggro on you... you wont get banned/whatever for salvaging other people's wrecks. and besides, most people who only got 1 account get more isk per hour BLITZING though missions.... so, yeah, free stuff XD
is a nice profession for the newer players. you know XD

Instead of the normal "Quit whining" replies, there are ways to get back at them.
1. Warp out.
Yes, you heard me, warp out and let their tiny ship (normally a small one) get aggro and go pop. Chances are that one wont come back.
2. Leave the big mission hubs.
No targets? No Salvages. Oh no, you lose a tiny fraction of LPs per mission. Well, I have news for you. You wont be playing enough missions to have that make one iota of difference. =) Plus, with the reduced lag, you can do, gasp, more missions and quicker?!? =)
Dont be a lemming. Branch out.
And the obligatory, Can I have your stuff?

Yeah it`s annoying, but hey Eve is an annoying game, lol. You have lots of options though:
1. Blow up the wrecks just as the looter gets to them, they find this annoying and it`s fun! 2. Warp out and return in a fast dessie and compete with them for the salvage. They find this annoying too, and I find they soon leave. 3. Mission in less popular spots. Scanning people is a numbers game and the mission hubs are where you`ll find most if not all scanners. 4. Buy a marauder.
Much more annoying is the people who deliberately get agro from you then come back and gank you. Set your drones to passive and don`t be tempted. A probe is unlikely to be seriously taking on your BS, so he will have backup - or a ship fitted to counter yours.
BTW shouldn`t this be in the missions forum?

Just blow up your own wrecks. They will leave you alone. If they hassle you more just go to another agent. It is very annoying but no... there is not much else you can do. Problem is if you attack the guy his 3 PVP fitted buddies warp in and crush you in your NPC fit.

Any decent salvager wont be popped if you leave the mission. My ship almost instawarps due to the nano fit. Getting a destroyer doesnt help you, my salvaging frig will beat you to any BS wreck :p Blowing up wrecks: A decent salvager should stay until you blew up everything. You loose much more isk than the salvager doing that.
Just accept the wrecks as lost and go on missioning, its better money anyways. |

Unfortunately OP there isn't a whole lot you can do about it, especially in High-Sec, except what the other guy said about moving system or buying a maraudar. It's understandable why people do this sort of thing, minimal effort and even less risk. It's pretty much like stealing from a cold dead baby wrapped in duct tape. To be perfectly honest it's pretty boring and dead end, after you've "earned" a billion or so and have the most pimped salvage boat since Jesus, what then?
What you can do, is pretend the guy get's really really excited about salvaging your stuff. Just picture a big fat guy going "F*ck yeah! Metal scraps b*tches!" while attempting to dance/stand up. |

You know it's funny, one solution I have not seen mentioned is to simply ask the salvager to stop. I don't mean start talking smack in local and whining, I mean saying something like, "hey, I was planning to salvage this mission myself, would you mind leaving the wrecks?". If you ask me nicely I'll probably leave your precious wrecks alone and head to one of the other missions I've bookmarked for salvage. I find that 90% of mission runners don't ever salvage their missions and have no problem if I come along behind them and clean up the mess, but there is no way for me to know that you wanted that salvage unless you say so, and again, I mean by asking me nicely to stop, not by getting your panties in a bunch.

EVE is a diverse game with alot of Pit falls. you want easy Carebear game Try hello kitty. This isnt the game for you.
sal+vage (slvj) n. 1. a. The rescue of a ship, its crew, or its cargo from fire or shipwreck. b. The ship, crew, or cargo so rescued. c. Compensation given to those who voluntarily aid in such a rescue. 2. a. The act of saving imperiled property from loss. b. The property so saved. 3. Something saved from destruction or waste and put to further use. tr.v. sal+vaged, sal+vag+ing, sal+vag+es 1. To save from loss or destruction. 2. To save (discarded or damaged material) for further use. ................
So surely Loot is the same as salvage by this definition. Loot should not be flagged if the Slavage is not. Or both should be flagged.

Just for the record:
When I invade your mission I'm there for the salvage and loot. Those who's missions I've busted in know this, I will loot the wrecks and go flashy red.
With so many whines on the forums from victims about how they can do absolutly nothing about it, I make it a point to give everyone of my victims that opportunity to do something about it.
Will I then warp off to get my gank-ship? Maybe. Everyone of my customers is unique so my response to acts of aggression are decided on a personal basis.
However all my customers are treated with equal respect and opportunity with no regard to race, creed or religion. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
