Originally by: Damajink I don't understand why PayPal can't just pay CCP the money directly. There is absoloutley no need for a middleman like PayByCash, it just complicates things and causes problems like this.
Perhaps because CCP wants nothing to do with Paypals draconian schemes for what happens if you as a merchant that accidentially gets a CC "incident" on your arse.
. . . Awaiting more and hi-bit rate music - with bated breath ... |

I think you need a new bank or "Account company" or whatever you call your account people.
Actually CCP DO take Debit Cards... in fact I have been using one for the last 6 months or so with no problem whatsoever. -------------------------------------------

There are different types of debit cards. You can get one that has a Visa or Mastercard mark and use it just like a CC. Only difference is that monies are taken directly from your checking account.

There is something I would like to clear up about all this. The issue is not exactly between Paypal and Paybycash but applies to many services that accept Paypal. I would like to quote the PBC web site: "PayPal recently made a change in their terms of service which is requiring PayByCash to change the way it processes PayPal payments for our merchant clients (the game and service providers you subscribe to)....The problem is that PayPal has ceased to allow merchant aggregators to operate..." (Full article) Thus, even if we at CPP decided to take payments from Paypal directly (And there are currently no plans to do so) then we would have to go through the same process as PBC are doing now (requiring a similar amount of time as well) before we could accept any payments. PBC are doing all they can to be able to accept Paypal payments again as soon as possible (As this is a fairly popular payment method it is in their own financial interest to do so)

I think i am missing something. I pay with my Debit card (which really is being treated as a VISA). Does that not work for others? I'm in the US by the way. ____________________________________

1) Get a credit card, they will give one to anyone. If you are broke get one of those unsecured cards where you pay $250 up front and they give you $250 credit.
2) If your subscription runs out and you want to keep playing I will pay the yearly subscription amount for you for 2Billion ISK each

I work in the retail market RL, and this nonsense about debit cards is bugging me, so here's my two cents.
First off, there are 2 types of bank cards - ATM cards, and Debit cards. ATM cards ONLY allow you to conduct business with your bank - deposits, withdrawals, and balance statements. DEBIT cards have a major credit card company logo (MC, Visa, Discover, AmEx) and will work for ANY transaction that a credit card would, with the money directly billed to the bank account from which the Debit Card draws. So if you have a Debit card with a MC/Visa/etc. logo on it, you can use it to pay for Eve.
GMs/CSRs - you might want to put this info on the main site under payment options - include a note that debit cards do work for this. I've seen a few threads on this topic. ___________________________________

Right on the money there, Komen. I originally was going to go the Eve Gametime Card way but CCP totally fudged up their promises to get them in at launch (but to be fair to CCP it wasnt completely their fault... also it turned out that Germany swiped a large portion of the first cards to hit the market apparently).
My only choice was to use PayPal or PayByCash which meant paying MORE than normal which I didn't want to do as I only receive disability pay. So I said sod it and went to my bank and sorted out getting a Visa Debit Card with which I have had ZERO problems with (I pay three accounts with it and not one has failed to work).
On my statement I get something like this :-
DEB CCP IS 14.95 XR 1.44864 10.32
... which means I pay 10.32 UK Pounds at an exchange rate of 1.44863 -------------------------------------------

what company would say that their is a processing fee for processing debit cards. like i am born yesterday.
Actually I used to own a credit card processing system for my tattoo parlor.... the bank providing the service used to charge us a flat fee of FIFTY CENTS per Debit Card transaction.
I rather doubt it's up to the $4 bux that paybycash charges - but they are providing a service...
Is it WORTH paying for? not if you can avoid it.

So do CCP have any suggestions for debit card users?
Would be interesting to find out just how many people use a debit card to pay for EVE....

I would ask CCP to consider taking Switch debit cards directly.
Lets get in all our ships and go pod them. Oh wait! They will just hide in a station and cower. 0.o It's not you... no wait it is you. |
