I think I should clarify a couple of things. It is in our interest that our customers is able to pay us for their subscription. Well, that's an understatement really, our business depends on it.
We therefore strive to maintain the current payment options while adding new options. However, online processing of any card from any country in the world is to say the least, impossible. Online processing is in no way comparable to store processing where you deal with 95% domestic debit/hybrid cards and international credit cards. We just don't have the access to authorize so many cards from so many countries. ("Hey, I'm a company from Iceland, is it ok to bill your customers debit card for 14$ a month?")
We have 2 billing providers atm so we are able to cover most of the ways to pay for EVE, but we are always pushing them to add more ways to pay. When something changes in how their payment options, such as the PayPal change, which is happening to all billing providers (PayPal call them "aggregators", since they aggregate multiple ways of billing for a single client, us) PayPal is actually shafting our customers. We can't change this faster, neither can PayByCash, but we are working on it as fast as we can.
However, the end result is we get angry customers that aren't able to pay us to continue their service. I can only apologize for the situation and hope you bear with us while this is fixed, because we will do everything we can to fix it. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |

Cheers for the response Oveur. Patience is one thing I have, I've had no ADSL at home for the last 3 and a half weeks, and its just been reactivated today. Was looking forward to playing EVE again and realised my subs ends on Sunday. With no way of paying with anything but my Switch debit card it looks like I'm going to have to go without EVE again :(
Lets hope Paybycash get some more options for debit card users soon, before I go nuts

If you are in the UK like me and used to pay by paypal (like me) you can get a splash plastic card for free that you can charge up in shops with money and payby cash accept these, just a suggestion for those like me not able to pay any other way.

Originally by: kieron It has come to our attention that there is an issue between PayPal and PayByCash. Unfortunately, this is an issue between PayPal and PayByCash and is something that is not within our control.
If you are paying your subscription through the above method, you need to contact those companies if your subscription is up for renewal. Unfortunately, the GMs are not able to assist with this issue and will most likely advise you to contact both companies or hit the following link.
More information can be found at this link.
What i found funny was that yesterday i tried logging in and i got the message that i could not log in, this while every month you got your money and VISA said there was nothing wrong with the card.
So i filled it in again and it worked.
So its not ONLY paypal - - -

Yep, spot on that. I am a disgruntled PayPal user and have recently taken delivery of a splash plastic card (www.splashplastic.com) It is the only vaible alternative for UK customers.
I contacted PayPal to have a whinge at them about it and they just passed the buck to PBC saying they wudnt discuss third-parties with me. They are tossers as far as i am concerned.

One of the main reasons it took me so long to sign up to Eve, was that they don't accept switch cards. Then when I found about PayByCash/PayPal & being able to pay with switch, shortly after I signed up, still PBC & PP make the subscription even more expensive.
If I can no longer pay with my switch easily I might just have to give up Eve , surely since such a significant number of Eves customers appear to be from the UK, wouldn't it make sense to support one of the most used debit cards i.e. switch directly?

I think you need a new bank or "Account company" or whatever you call your account people.
Actually CCP DO take Debit Cards... in fact I have been using one for the last 6 months or so with no problem whatsoever.
Does that include Visa Electron?

I have played this game for nearly 14 months now, and always used my VISA/delta debit card. Then CCP brought in the changes, and now i cant reactivate my bloody main character account, its been 11 days since i could play on it. Theres a thread in "known issues and workarounds" full of people like me with the same problem. I anticipate that as peoples subs run out that pay like me, that those people will have the same problem.
I realise that some people who use similar cards are not having a problem in this manner and that is very strange indeed.
My account is held at a large UK bank, is so fully in credit its an embarrassment, and i have used it to pay for goods online as recently as today when i bought ink cartridges.
We all appreciate the guys at CCP's position as stated here in this thread, at least as regards PBC and PayPal. However we have heard not a word yet officially about why so many people are having problems with debit/credit hybrid cards that used to work fine up until the changes.

I have used PayByCash for the first time and most likely the last. Used Swiftpay from Western Union to pay PayByCash for 1 month of play. That was last night at 2048, still havent gotten my subscription reactivated. (using the 14 trail atm). Western Union says the money was paid last night but PayByCash says they have not gotten it yet. Customer service is quick to respond and say that it will be fixed soon, but nothing has happened as of yet, so to summarize:
Subscription -- 14.95 PayByCash Fee -- 3.00 Swiftpay Fee -- 7.00
Total : 24.95
Dont think I will be using this method again

The problem, in the UK at least, is that the banks give out 2 types of debit card:
Barclays, Lloyds TSB and co. use VISA/Delta, which is a worldwide system and can be used anywhere a VISA credit card can.
Natwest, Royal Bank of Scotland and co. use Switch. Switch is a UK system, which is accepted almost UK wide, but as soon as you try to do an internet transaction with a company based outside the UK you are shafted.
Try switching banks? :D

Edited by: Valentine Keen on 24/07/2004 10:12:51 Switch should be ok as a global debit card, because the vast majority of Switch cards in the UK are also Maestro (recently combined as Switch-Maestro) and should be global anyway.
At least, I think that's what that weird ad campaign with the singing penguins is all about.
Edit:
But at the end of the day, it's still a Debit card system and not a Credit card system, so a lot of retailers don't take either form of debit card.
