TheJay, you don't need to change banks to play EVE, jus get an account at the other banks they listed aswell and get a card on that account.
As for visa electron, it's a horrible pos. Officially it's supposed to work online aswll but I've never gotten mine to work even once. And no, I didn't try paying EVE with it, just amazon and other sites like that. I'm assuming maestro has similar problems.
From what I could tell the banks here don't give debit cards with Vias/Mastercard stamps on them, you either get the real deal credit card or just a regular bank payment card.

uhm, this kinda shafts me. I am from the uk, have a uk bank account etc, but am working abroad atm, so cant get one of those splash card things, tryin to sort anything out over here is an effort, so with me not being able to extend my account through paypal n paybycash leaves me no options :/
only just got back in the damn game as well.

I could be wrong but Visa Electron is a new card type, When my bank gave me it i was pretty annoyed as none of the online sites i buy stuff with would accept it, apart from paypal. I'd thought i'd need to change banks, Slowly tho its become more useful with many of the online sites i use to pay for it using it.

How about adding PayPal as an payment option?
How about adding anything else but credit card as payment options for character transfer and name changes?

Im sure that if CCP were to get a PREMIERE Paypal account (they are free) they would be able to take money straight from us.
They even give buttons for that sort of stuff.
What commission paypal take (Not a lot) could be factored in our monthly payments.
I dont have a CC and dont intend to get one either, but i do have a SOLO Debit card and does me ok for using paypal and even use it to pay for me ADSL.
I sell junk on eBay and recieve all mt payments via that way and have logos on my auctions saying that i can take all sorts of CC's and it works.

CCP should do something else they'll start loosing and/or not gaining customers. My brother for example is wanting to subscribe to Eve (probably using my card too, since he pays for adsl which I also contribute to) & he won't be able to do that until I can pay with switch/maestro/paypal. Not too long left on my account either, expires in mid August

I have a morbid fear of using a credit card online for anything  Ive used splash plastic myself for about a year to pay for eve just get the wife to do it in coop when she gets the eletric key charged once a month, never had a problem allways shows up in subscriptions 2-3 hours after putting it through the system id recomend it to anyone in the uk who dosent/cant use a credit/debit card.
Maybe ccp could look at direct debit as a method ?

CCP, i understand that what is going on with paypal is not of your fault. But, there are many players that will struggle to pay you. Imo, this needs a solution, and hastily.
