In light of our corp having many chuckles over the creation of "The Darwin Award, for extreme stupidity resulting in death" I thought it would be interesting to open a topic in the forums where people can post their very own tales of terminal idiocy.
So if you're like me and do stuff like go for dinner in a red system and forget to turn on your cloak, or chase after a 3 man HAC gang in a bellicose..............or accidentally lock and shoot an NPC station in the middle of a fight you know you can win.......or try to find your lighter while sitting at a gate in 0.0 then please post here for our amusement.
So crash test dummies of the world here is your opportunity to speak out! You have nothing to lose but your dignity and self respect!
If this topic has already been covered then feel free to crucify me. And yes I know my sentence structure is horrible.

The small armor repair would have given me MORE than enough time to get my two LRAR's on it to keep it alive forever, while I slowly eat away at the capacitor (and therefore the tank) of the rax, and if it ever hit my mega, well...you know.
There goes my t2 loot because I forgot to turn on one module/don't own two computers.

For a giggle, was flying a Taranis inty tackler with some alliance mates in a mission (we ran several, and I flew a different ship for each mission, from a Velator to a battleship).
In the final mission I was paying attention to the NPCs, wasn't paying attention to the damage to the NPC pleasure hub from our torp-mounting Golem, and the NPC pleasure hub went boom before I expected it to die... The mission was "Damsel in Distress." Where the NPC pleasure hub blows up for 3000 damage or so. It suddenly felt quite drafty as I found myself sitting there in a pod! ^_^

Even better.... I was suicide clone jumping back to empire (self-destructing my pod) in order to ferry my ships out to Syndicate. I didn't fully understand the fact that podding myself was just like being podded by someone else. I lost Electronics Upgrades 5 and a few other skills.... took me 3 weeks to recover since I wasn't re-upgrading my clone each time. I actually podded myself 3 times with the basic clone.

I was observing a gate in low sec when a skirmish broke out between some corp mates and a small gang near the gate. I warped in to join the fray and hopefully tilt the battle in our favor.
I landed and slapped a point on a Myrm and then moved to engage his heavy drones (I was in an speedy little Enyo).
Suddenly my shield was gone and my armor was melting away like butter.
Gate guns have amazing tracking on them which I had neglected to account for. So, my speed tank was useless and within ten seconds I was frantically warping away in my pod.
Spanked like a red headed stepchild.

I still do stupid moves all the time but the funniest are of course when I heard of lowsec as a nooblet and decided to try PVP... Highlights include taking my very poorly fitted Thorax (I had just got in to it and had no clue about fitting ships) in to a lowsec gate, attacking a random target and reading up on sentry guns later... I then decided that I had to train some skills before PVPing again, a while later I took a tanky Hyperion to lowsec and gave VETO a nice ransom.
(Read up more after that, started flying the Incursus and started even getting some sensible fights) ---

Cool Thread and great reading!!
Okay so I too have engaged in more than a little natural selection myself!!
I was flying a load of trade goods out in low sec in my Mark V, fitted with no WCStabs, minimal tank... cargo is loaded with shuttles and a bit of ammo....
I jump into a system and while aligning to next gate local loads up with piwates.
Hmmm... okay so I divert to a belt and just jump in at say, zero I guess.
Fail! as I watch local and realign I am scrambled by belt rats!!
Um... okay then. Local empties to but 2 pilots and I yell for help to kill the rats who are but pesky, buggers to any ship but a Iteron hauler... and as my tank is eaten away by the rats I am thinking wtf?? How could you??
The pilot I ask for help from laughs at me and thinks I bait him of course.... I go down and and poped into shamage!!
I shake may head and wonder about the need for vigilance in this harsh game of EVE

Officially I would consider getting your pod destroyed in a stupid fashion a Darwin Equivalent...but this is kind of fun...so here is some honourable mentions: No. 1 Was in my Stealth Bomber in low sec..0.4 system and found a lone rifter in the belt ratting. I warp to 100 and cloak. Look up the toon...2 days old...So for fun I uncloak. He does not leave. I lock him. He does not leave. I shoot 1 volley...3 cruise. Hes dead. I convo him and tell him no hard feelings. To show I mean it I give him 1 mil isk for his losses. Then not thinking about the global I warp to a gate. Needless to say....expensive loss... No. 2 Just bought a new HAC. I was so excited I decided to christen it at a low sec gate camp. Got in on a kill before I called it a night. No one owned up to the KM so after I warped to the gate I scoured a few KBs. Come back a few mins later to find my new shiny HAC in pieces. Damn glogal again... No. 3 (No gloabl this time...LOL) Alt and I were working a WC mish. Wanted to farm it a bit so I BM a wreck since it was my alts mish but only main can tank it. Next day I get home from work and warp main to the wreck. I then Alt-Tab over to the alt account to get it ready to warp in. Few mins later back over to main. No more BS. Not thinking the BM was right in the middle of the Sansha group at first gate. No. 4 (Actually a true Darwin Equivalent) Loaded up my mammy with some low sec loot. Undocked from a low sec station. Proceed to go to take a shower. Come back to the computer in my med station and thinking WTF??? Check kill mail and think real hard. ****e....Station was a spitter. Pirate just had to wait for me to get out of gun range.
Have fun with those!!!

Was doing some scouting for targets one night in CVA 0.0 space. We're red to them for some reason or another. Anyway, I'm in an inty (not that that entered my mind at all) and jump through to check the other side of a gate. Nothing, so I reapproach the gate.
A battleship warps in at 200km or so, and I go "Hrm, must be checking the gate. Either way I should be fine, if he aggresses I'll just jump through"
Wrong.
1 alpha later and I'm in my pod -_- Meanwhile, on the other side of town . . . |

Edited by: Jeesa on 03/01/2009 15:41:14 I was exploring in low sec with my old arbi. Got into a drone plex and was just hapily salvaging the wrecks when a pvp fitted pilgrim uncloaked behind me and started neuting and scraming me.
I thought it is game over for me and pressed the self destruct button.Still trying to fight i've launched my dronies and started killing his.
The guy was a wannabe pirate probably because he continued neuting me long after i hadn't cap left, so he ran out of cap too and lost his scram on me.His dronies was gone and i was eating his armor. At this moment his friend with a vexor finally answered to his cries and show up, heading toward us.
Now coming the sucky part - i didnt knew how to turn off my self destruction . Clicked like 10 times "self destruct" yes or no - "NO" - nothing happened and finally my ship exploded just when starting to warp out of the plex.
Needless to say the guy was pretty much embarassed that he was loosing the fight against an exploring T1 cruiser and a few months old pilot so he spammed a few times my "attempt to self desctruct" message in local followed by lolz. But it only made me feel better .

You know Falcons have amazing targetting and jamming range?
I had flown to the defense of a corpie in my Falcon, to save the day, as any Falcon pilot would. I had all racial jammers to jam the 3 ships that had engaged him, it was looking good.
I warped to him at zero, yep, that's right, at zero.
To this day I have no idea why.

Edited by: Toshiro GreyHawk on 05/01/2009 06:45:29 Eh ... I've gotten a few ships killed learning the game ... "Why's that guy flashing red ... wonder what that means ..." but that was just learning the game so I don't blame myself to much.
The one thing I did ... with a ship ... that was really stupid was when I created my second account. I'd found this .8 system I'd mined before with my Navitas and had it there mining away while I was fitting out a ship for my new second account. I was sitting right there ... just looking at the other monitor as I tried different things I'd looted to see what I could fit. After a bit ... I noticed that there were some unfamiliar sounds besides those of my laser and looked up to find myself under attack by a rat. Shields were gone, armor was going. I put on some speed, turned on my Shield boster and started shooting back (I had a gun fitted on that Navitas ...) but didn't want to get killed ... so I ejected ... watched my Navitas sail off without me rat in pursuit until it blew. The thing was ... I thought I'd die when the ship blew up ... like in a flight sim ... so I had ejected ... I probably could have saved that ship ... *shrug* Oh well ... at 20k ... that was a fairly cheap mistake by the standards of this thread.
The worst mistake I ever made though was to set myself up in a base without checking the yield on refining. I operated out of that base for MONTHS and it had a base rate of 30% ... so I spent all that time getting about 75% of what I could have refined. Now THAT was a screw up.

but my most epic loss was in a mission I had my alt salvaging while there were still rats and he got tatgetted and warp scrambled. I send in drones on the rats with my main. Then to check on my alts ship I targetted him instead of switching accounts. I had autofire on and got concordonokkened with my main and my alt got popped by the rats...

While running a mission my mate called me and stated that he has scanned out a drake in a 0.4 system doing Angel Extravaganza. Logged on my alt along with few friends and went to the location. When we got to the last room we noticed that drake pilot has finished the mission and left the room. Doh... We decided to stay in the room planning our next move. In the mean time drake pilot came back in a CNR to do a bonus room. Landed on top of harb, rook, zealot. Fail.

The best Darwin Award I ever heard of, and I wasn't involved in this so I'm going solely off the forum story:
Back in the days when T2 cost as much as faction does now, a pirate was drunk at a gate camp and killed and podded his own alt in a hauler full of T2 loot.
Stupidest way I ever died, being in an afterburned equipped ratting Thorax in 0.0. At least I got the satisfaction of taking one of the tackle frigs that grabbed me as I was ABing out of the sling bubble with me. Got another cruiser into hull to.
You know, now that I stop to think about it that was a pretty loose gatecamp...

So I had my roomate call his GF whom was living with us, and he explained to her what to do to get me docked. The hilarious thing is that she ABSOLUTELY HATES EVE...because my roomate spent more time on it than with her.

About 1 year ago we had a small fleet out in some 0.0 space.
We were in our then home pocket, when a scorpion and a Astarte entered system.
There were 4 of us so we made chase, they left our pocket, and because we were busy we decided to let them run as there were some huge warps ahead and the system they entered is very deep to scan down.
Anyway we keep playing in our local, but this time we see a pod come back in.
We sent our buzzard pilot into the system where the Astarte and Scorpion were.
Our buzzard gets a 0 metre scan on the Astarte, next to it is the scorpion, now the best bit. The Astarte is empty, and his pilot is the pod in the neighbour system. We set up our dictor to keep the pod trapped.
Unfortunately for us, we have no command ship pilots at this stage, we are only young group. BUt the best part, our dictor pilot pods the the capsule three times while he trys to rescue his ship,, as we head out and kill his unmanned Astarte.
We wished we could have stolen it, it would have been more fun, but anyway, we found and killed an unmanned command ship , because a pod pilot tried to be to clever ..

Got a couple 1. Decided to go an hassle a pirate corp for a few days with my alt in a triple trimark geddon. Had some good fights with them but neither of us ever made the kill, until the day that I tinkered with bracket settings and forgot I had drones on my target when I de-aggressed. Needless to say I was cursing all the way through structure - still fun mind!
2. Sorry, a mission one. Fail none the less though. I think it was serpentis blockade adn there were 4 of us cleaning the mission out in remote rep ships My CEO had aggro so I was repping him, I also had aggro (We were both in trimark/plate megas) meanwhile I was getting a bit of repping love from my salvage alt and corpie 4 was handing out cap to all of us. My CEO accidently placed his remote rep on a rat and not me. Four pretty explosions later...

And for a bit of showing-off, I can run two clients at 53 FPS on fullscreen and max premium settings....on my 1,500$ laptop :)
Protip: You don't need 2 computers, just get a 2nd screen. If you run the clients in windowed mode you can just mouse between them. It makes dual accounting heaps easier. I often run 3 accounts across 3 monitors without too much trouble.

One of my old corpsmates was one of those brash arrogant types who liked to ride dirty, and then claim he was all powerful when he didn't get blown up. He ran L4s solo in a faction fitted Navy Mega with only 150 tank and an AB.
In the course of the two weeks the following happened:
1. Lost Navy Mega #1 in an L4 (down 500mil) 2. Bought Navy Mega #2 3. Set course from Jita to mission hub 4. Course goes through low sec pipe near Jita 5. Sets autopilot 6. Lost Navy Mega #2 (down 350mil, was unfitted) 7. Borrowed 400mil from EVE Bank 8. Bought Navy Mega #3 9. Lost Navy Mega #3 in an L4 (down 500mil) 10. Still owed 400mil to EVE Bank 11. Ships left that he owned: Hulk, Hyperion 12. Money left in wallet: 100mil 13. Do the math
And what clinches it all for me at least: 14. Still tried to tell everyone he knew what he was doing... _______________________________________________

Well I live in 0.0 so I though one day "hmm gona train up for this new ship, I'll get an implant set to make it quicker, and while im at it ill get the other implants for agility" So couple days later my implant set arrives I go to station select all 10 of them and plug them in. Next thing I see over alliance channel "10 man gang camp, x up bs composition". So I warp to other station get in my torp raven, join fleet jump in system and warp to fight. Well more hostiles jumped in we tore through alot of them but in the end of the 3 ships our side lost mine was one of them, including a pod, with implants, that I just plugged in 10 minutes ago. Well that saved me about hmm half a minute of training time for a cost of 100+ mil. My death mail: http://bulg.otel.net/kb/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=49368 You can click on related kills to check the battle outcome
Another nice fight that happened few days ago prior to my raven loss. I finaly managed to have someone jump in my drake from empire, on alliance comms "100+ man gang in nearby system" ok so we form up chase them, engage them, local up to 245. So im sittin there at gate pwning some primaried targets when finaly I am so lagged out I had to warp out. Thinking well since we got carriers in I'll warp to this cyno, so if I get primaried I'll get some remote reps from them. So I initiate warp to cyno, while in warp fc yells "all caps jump out". I finaly land there 170km from gate, first thing, get tackled, next I see alot of ships flashing red, I launch drones, I get jammed, drones few minutes later abandon me - I guess due to fact that they were on some ceptor and went out of my control range - so I finaly decide well I cant do much since im perma jammed, I allign for the gate and go my 110ms and occasional web of 60ms. 10mins later while tanking half of the small ships there and 80km from the gate im still traveling towards it. Untill finaly I get primaried at which time theres 400+ in local and only handfull of friendlies out of those. Tanked total of 109k hp and had 179 people on my death mail. If you're interested here it is, my death mail: http://bulg.otel.net/kb/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=49037 nice fight but 148 friendly against 450 hostile although we sort of held good 93 kills for 101 losses, although we lost some caps.

#1: So a hostile enters our 0.4 home in a Machariel (Angel faction BS, 800M). First mistake: He's flying a faction ship for PvP alone.
Mistake 2: There's a Genolution station in the system, so he decides to play station hugging games with us (for those of you who haven't visited them, Genolution stations have a roughly 30km docking radius).
Mistake 3: After 20 minutes, when around 30 of us have gathered to try and bump him off the station, he doesn't leave. So, when an alliance member brings out a heavily nano'ed BS, he gets bumped around 6-7km off the station in one hit. Locked, webbed, popped. Total ISK loss estimated around 1B, given the faction fittings.
Second is my first loss, a cruiser. Ironically, it was in the same system in the first, although I was in the starter corp at the time. Basically, I jump in. There's a bestower sitting AFK on the gate, so I think 'Hey, how bad can it actually be?' I warp to belt and open up on a couple cruisers. Shortly, a drake, a prophecy, and a blackbird warp in. 'I'll wait and see if they are friendly,' I think. They deploy drones. "Maybe they want to help kill the rats," I think (I was such an epic noob...). 10 seconds later... *splat*
Finally, when we were seiging a POS, to fend off our BSes one of the hostiles warped a carrier on the POS. Yep, you guessed it - he either forgot to input the shield password or put it in wrong. Hours later, the same character deployed a mothership in a nearby lowsec system we inhabited. He got it trapped on a gate, so he self-destructed it. I think we ended up collecting something like 22 of his fighters in the end. Actually, theres a pic of the Mom SD'ing on our KB, but I can't figure out how to link it. |

Being a new player, I often find myself dying stupidly. On my first go-round with EvE, several months ago, I was stupidly flying around in low-sec. In poorly outfitted frigate. This was maybe my second or third day of playing. I randomly warp to an asteroid belt, when all of a sudden I get a target lock. I didn't even have time to try and warp out. Three or four missiles from a Caracel popped me in a single volley. Kablooey.
Another glorious death, this one involving much more stupidity, fell on me a couple days later. I was flying around .6 and .7 systems, enjoying feeling like a big dangerous bad guy, when I see some wrecks. This was before I knew that yellow=somebody else's. So, I start looting them, brushing off the warning that I was stealing for somebody. I figured it was a glitch, or that if it wasn't he was long gone and probably didn't care. I loot a couple when a big freakin boat warps in and begins targeting me. Panicking, I flee through two systems, this guy somehow only a step behind me the whole way. With me desperately trying to find a station to dock at, he finally catches up long enough to blast me once. Boom. Sad death. He then gloated about it, calling me a thief and a coward (using less kind words). Genuinely confused as to why he was allowed to explode me, I settle on the notion that the ships I looted must have been NPC allies to him. Somehow. Since the ships were NPC slaver rats, I say, "Maybe you shouldn't work with slavers, this confusion could've been avoided."

Well when i first started to learn exploration and finding plexes was told if you didn't know what something was book mark your ship and warp to it in your pod. OK makes sense i think. So i find this nice plex in 0.0 bm my ship, eject and go check it out. its a gate so i think cool, warp to planet then back to where i had my helios at. I end up going back to the plex gate. Think ok i made a mistake so try it again with same results. so now here i am 10 jumps from nearest station in 0.0 in a pod. Well aparently where i left my ship was same grid as plex gate and it defualt warped me to the gate. Had to get a gang together to do the plex just to get my ship back. That was also the last time i ejected from a ship to check something out.

Some funny **** here, over the last 5+ years IÆm sure IÆve had many a moment but luckily high levels of alcohol has erased them from my memory however one still stands out
Back when I joined my first pirate corp as a raw noob, I had made a tracking computer an integral part of my setup which worked surprisingly well so much so that one of my corp mates was running a pretty much identical setup. After months of flying around like this, during a camp I accidentally click the tracking comp instead of a warp scram and stare in amazement as it begins to flash. Seeing the comedy in the situation and laughing as I explained what happened over vent I meet with complete silence for a few moments followed by a barley audible click from my comrade in arms.

Had just started doing inventions and invented a couple of eris and ishkur BPC's. So I open the market tab buy all the materials to build them. Hop into my MarkV fully rigged for max cargo of over 38Km3, and run off to pick up the supplies.
Second to last jump I am going to get some materials jump in system warp to station get the delivery. Undock and can't understand why an abbadon and another minmatar BS (cant remember type) are attacking me. Hadn't realized I am in low sec. So i dock up just in time as armor is melting away. So now I am beiong camped by 2 BS's outside of a station in a low sec system and i have over 250mill woth of cargo in the hold of a 250 mill rigged out ship. So here I am waiting I undock again they agress I redock but in the time I notice one of the ships was called the ragnar danneskold. So I type in Local "Awe who is John Gault anyway" next thing he responds and we start talking about Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand and the correlation to Hillary Clinton's plan to offer a tax rebate on gasoline during the summer months. Which turns into a full discussion with the other pilots in local and the state of the world economy and how it is mirroring the novel Atlas Shrugged and what would AYn Rand think of what is happenning today.
Suddenly I notice the 2 pirates have docked in the station next to me as we are carrying on this conversation. So I type a long thesis on what i thought post it in local count to 3 undock and warp to the gate while they are reading hit the gate and thank them for the insite while jumping out of system.
Talk about being lucky. From now on I always check the system before i buy something

I recently helped an inty pilot out by being dumb. There I am in Tama and a red flashy is on planet. Crow tackles him and calls for help. We are in a 9 man FW fleet and I warp to him in my cormorant ready to kill. I get up on him and hit my point and laugh at his feeble attempts to kill my destroyer in an inty. Well he kills the crow and then starts working on me , I guess in his half structure he finally regains enough cap to activate MWD again, so he powers away from me less than half structure and I laugh and go back to looking for WT in local. Next thing I know a Vexor pops on grid. I say **** it to myself and engage. Next thing I know I am cap dead, drones all around me and quickly popped. I laugh at my stupidity, warp my pod out and go to get a new ship.
I later check BC and see this Angel gets a free kill.
I now challenge Angel to a frig duel. I'll bring my Merlin and he can bring his Claw. It will be fun. |

My favorite personal comedy death came during a BS POS takedown. This is a tedious affair, so I'm a little distracted anyways. I'm doing a bit of cap xfer to a corpmate who's moved just out of my xfer range. I just click-click to move over a bit his way...
At this point my 5yr old runs in with something terribly important to share (as all things to a 5 yr old are terribly important...), so I turn down Vent and pay attention to whatever it was that was so very important...
All the while, my Domi is still moving...moving past the corpie and now moving well within POS gun range...
The entire time, the gang is shouting at me in Vent and blazing away in corp chat...till, ya Boom, dead Domi. Oh well, it was insured and I didn't need those fits anyways.
My favorite shared comedy death was from a friend that was inventing for a Deimios, and ended up with a Phobos. He says to himself, oh well, this could be fun too. Trains the couple of missing skills, fits it out and begins to play with his first Hictor. Problem was when he went to test the Warp Disrution Field Generator in empire without a script... concordokkened!
As an additional footnote, I must say that I am pleased that an incidence of Atlas Shrugged has proven to demonstrate at once, an example of positive natural selection is saving the above's tragic losses, and at the same time demonstrating that the overall over-intellectualization of the average libertarian quite often undermines their effectuality, as in the case of the pirates that docked up and actually let you get away. P.S. One great book tbfh...

Having lived in 0.0 for a long time and grown bored of it, I decided low-sec piracy was going to be my next 'career move'. So I join a pirate corp in Minmatar low-sec and find I am really enjoying myself.
While running around in a Crow one day, I scan down a Mammoth and figure that in the absence of anything better to shoot, I would go for that. I got him alright, on a gate. 0.0 can teach you many things... but it also makes you forget certain things, namely sentry guns. Crow went pop and I went back to station red-faced.
How the hauler pilot must have laughed.
Never made that mistake again.

Happened in December, so it's fairly recent.
I was scouting and setting BMs for Caldari Cosmos with my Raptor interceptor with nothing fitted besides 1 1mn Afterburner & Microwarpdrive and 3 overdrive injectors. I was too lazy to fit guns or launchers because it was already low on fitting and I like to full fit a ship or not fit a ship, but don't like to fit it with mixed stuff.
But anyways, I warped to an open beacon at 100km and see a destroyer wreck by the NPCs and decided to steal from it. Bad idea. I warped in on 0 at it and right as I loot it a single frig scrams my inty.
All the other frigates and cruisers were too slow to keep up, and were now 50km behind me. This one frigate slowly chewed through my shields, armor, and hull before my ship finally exploded.
You know how it is with those systems. There are about 20 people AFK and nobody willing to help!

I've got three from my early career.
1) I've just gotten into my first BC, a Ferox and fitted it for missions. I remember the message at the end of the n00b tutorial saying Okkelen is the place to be and head my bad boy mission fit Ferox out to do some COSMOS, whatever that is. I decide en route to try this PvP thing I keep hearing about. After trying to pick a fight with another Ferox next to some gate guns, I agree with the guy I'm harassing to move out into the open where he promptly Scrams, Webs, and NOS's me to 0 cap. I beg for my ship (at that point, easily 70% of my total net worth). Surprisingly, he agrees... if I join his corp. Thanks for the good times, Franc.
2) I get my very first Raven and think to myself "I've hit the big time now, I'm going to find out what 0.0 is all about." Jump into... EC-P8R. I think "Hey, there are a lot of ships here!" as I see the blue flash of death.
3) Running L4's in my second Raven, and clear the entire mission and then I pass out from WAY TOO MUCH VODKA. Apparently I failed to notice a couple of frig-size drone rats that slowly whittled my Raven into oblivion. |

Edited by: Ancy Denaries on 12/01/2009 10:58:24 So there I was out in Syndicate, back when I used to live there. My Cov Ops alt is in his Anathema, slowly working his way towards Y9G with valuable modules and blueprints in the cargohold.
My main is flying from one system to another in order to do some ratting. As I jump thru a gate I suddenly end up scrammed. There overview is clear. Wtf? So I change to my "loot" overview setting which shows everything. An Arazu and a Rapier have engaged me. Blue, both of them. Okay, so I got backstabbed, goddamnit.
My Harbinger was gankratting fitted with three heatsinks and heavy modulated guns (about 9-11 mil a pop), but I couldn't do squat. Both out of range and me damped to hell and back, not to mention webbed. So my to my dismay, I witness my beautiful ship turn to dust in a brilliant flash of blue. Many iskies lost there. Oh well, at least I got my pod out.
I alt tab back to my alt, who is now at 0 on a gate in 0.0. In a pod. WTF???! Around him sails 4 Serpentis BCs and 2 Serpentis BS, whom promptly blew him to hell and back when I got busy on my main. >.< He was in warp to the gate when my main got engaged, landed on the gate and decloaked due to gate proximity and got pasted :(
All in all, I think I lost some 400 mil on those deaths :( |

- Raven Trashing
- Clicked "Trash" instead of change ship.
- In a rush to start ratting, I also clicked "Yes"
- I petitioned the dumb loss of my Raven and got it back 3 weeks later, or in other words, 2 ravens later
- Three Way POS Fueling
- Was alt-tabbing between 3 (three) accounts, all in rigged, T2 fit Occators, on a relatively safe 5 jump route through a 0.0 pipe, half way between two station systems.
- My scout (2j ahead) has reported all clear, but has gone past the system connecting our pipe to a secondary one.
- I jumped over to the next system, where I encountered One hostile in a T1 cruiser (can't remember which, was over a year ago). The hostile attacked one of my alts. I was alt tabbing through the clients trying to find which two aren't attacked. After I found them, I tried to decide which had more expensive stuff. I realized by accident that my first Occator was about to die. Warped away with the capsule, then I returned to the other accounts to get them out. The second one was dead and podded, the third one was pinned down and taking damage.
- Called in a new carrier load of fuel from empire. (back then, the carriers were still able to jump ships filled with stuff other than ammo, but who the hell cares after a 500m loss huh?)
- My scout (buzzard) forgot to cloak and was killed by rats at the gate while waiting for me.
EDIT: c - I'm posting with my main :)

Having gotten the fine art of survey scanning down to a science, I proceed to demonstrate to a NON-EVE player what the game was all about. I explained that I had been playing for years, and all the wonderful and amazing things the game has to offer. I make sure to stress its a complex learning curve, and what I am doing is not really for beginners.
SO I demonstrate how to find these hidden asteroid belts in my T2 fitted Buzzard. While explaining to my friend the complicated steps involved in scanning for different cosmic anomilies he asks what that red flashing thing is on my screen. I turn to look and omg an inty pirate has warp scrambled me. I was sitting at a planet uncloaked the whole time I was scanning with the system map up. He takes me down to structure then demands 10 million. I prompty explain that I was showing how the game worked to a friend and pay the randsom, obviously feeling very red faced. The pirate thanks me and suggests next time I cloak while scanning in low sec.
My friend looks at me, obviously not impressed with my skills honed from years of playing and says,

I remember one of the first fleet battles I was involved in, I was so pumped up I locked on the first ship I saw and fired everything I had at her. I quickly broke through her shields, then into the armor, but she had a pretty good armor tank, but slowly I broke that feeling glad she was targeting another ship and not returning fire. My ganking pwnage powers were about to bear fruit. Once I broke into his hull, my excitement got the better of me and I typed into chat that I was about to pop one of them.
Thats when I noticed in corp chat my CEO screaming at me to stop shooting his ship. To my horror I noticed it was his ship, so I stopped my weapons. Moments later the enemy popped his ship. Everyone had a really good laugh, except me. |

1.) This is the most recent one sadly, I was flying my fully t2 fitted, rigged buzzard, in my +5 implant clone, back to my high-sec HQ at the end of a long day of moving back from 0.0. It was late, (almost noon the next day) and I was probably at the verge of consciousness, and i just wanted to get this over-with, so figuring my ship was nigh uncatchable I decided to take a route through low-sec. Little did I realize that this would send me straight through a notorious pirate system. Around the time I reached this system something else caught my attention, so during a warp to a gate i alt-tabbed out. Alt-tabed back to see a sizable gate-camp and my buzzard being targeted, thinking to myself, "how can they target me? I've got my cloak on....oh wait..." Doh!
2.) While doing some L4 missions in Motsu in my (at the time) 2bil Raven navy issue, I was contacted by someone "seeking help on a mission". Noticing the questionable corp history and the fact that he was apparently doing lvl 4's in a caracal i figured he was setting me up. Figuring that I could probably just exit the gang in time to stop anything i encountered (and not fully understanding the gang aggro rules) I went along with it and warped into his "mission". Found a geddon and a domi waiting for me and immediately exited the gang. Fortunately, the geddon shot me AFTER I left the gang, leading to a surprise vist from Concord for him, after an extensive battle with the domi, he realized he could not break my tank, and let me go (not after bluffing and making ransom demands however). Had a good laugh about this later lol :)
3.) Back when I was a complete and utter newb, I picked a fight with an ishtar in a poorly fitted caracal...bad idea, got through his shields, but didn't realize he could armer tank
4.) Undocked with a destroyer +4 clone without checking local for WT...There were 3 of them outside, and was lagging too badly to make a getaway...
5.) Left a 200 mil raven sitting in a belt with a triple queen spawn in it, figuring, "hey my new tank seems to be holding up pretty well". At this point a friend "commandeered" my computer. 20 minutes later I look back to discover that queens deal EM damage...
6.) Was on an op with a well tanked drake that had a cloaking device on it. We were gate camping in low-sec with reasonable intel that we had a 5 man hostile gang looking for us that were about to stumble upon our trap. Confidence was high that we could handle that with our 6 man, better trained gang. I go get some tea while we're waiting, come back to find a 15 man enemy BS fleet pwning the last few remnants of our measly fleet while I sit there cloaked a few km away. Not sure what I was thinking, but i tried to escape through the gate that they went through on intel given by the same guy as had just given us false intel...did not end well, but saved my pod.
7.) Went on an abandoned POS popping op in 0.0 with my CEO, immediately after a lecture from one of our now off-line FC's about online going on ops with FC's. Figuring that the CEO was just as good I decided to go along with him, and he convinced me to bring my gank(0 tank, no cloak) fitted 200mil ratting raven so "It won't take too long". So we got there and hammered it for a few minutes, and a hostile shows up in local, a few scans by another gang member proves he's in a pod, we don't worry too much, we've got a scout pretty far up in the direction of the hostiles' area. After a while there seems to be some activity on the map, and we all get a bit nervous, but when of our members looks at some of the bios of this hostile corp's members and proclaims, "They're all just a bunch of industrialists!" so we calm down. A few minutes later a massive 25 man hostile t2 ship gang shows up and we run like hell, needless to say i did not make it out with my ship. Note to self: the CEO isn't necessarily an FC.
EDIT: Do I win a prize for most awards?

I've done some stupid stuff over the years, but most of it was excusable by virtue of ignorance or just not dramatic enough to be worth mentioning. That being said, I have known people who's screw ups have been very entertaining and on rare occasions, legendary. I come here today to share the story of the Don Quixote of EvE, Scius the Honorable.
At the time Slackers was living Fountain as part of what we now call the GBC. Our alliance Exuro Mortis was mostly concerned with supporting ourselves, griefing/ganking isk farmers (which we grew VERY good at), and supporting BoB during big fights.
There were several other corps in the alliance of varying quality and Scius was a new recruit to one of the less well proven corps, White Noise. Outwardly he seemed to be a good catch, he had an excellent pvp skill base and his own Revelation. However, Scius had also been recently bought by a very new and, what we can only conclude to be, VERY stupid player.
We are all going about our business in Fountain when we read in our intel channel that someone has just been killed by a gate-camping Nyx in Caldari low-sec (lonetrek?.) Concerned, we investigate and find out that Scius had been moving his deadspace fitted Nightmare without a scout and gotten himself ganked. Now to be fair, this sort of thing happens often enough in EvE that this alone would not be sufficient give Scius any special notoriety.
Righteous Fury (our CEO and alliance leader at the time), has never been the type to suffer fools gladly and demands that Scius come on TS and explain himself. Scius says that he was trying to move his stuff up to Fountain and got killed by this Nyx and then tells us that we need to come help him kill it.
Now at this point in time Moms could not be tackled in low-sec (no HICs). But beyond this one gamebreaker we are also all in Fountain, several capital jumps away from wherever he is. He then announces that he's died again and starts to berate us for not coming to help him. RF is torn between a building rage and a confusion as to what exactly has this ****wit gotten himself into.
Looking at the KB of the Nyx's corp we discover to our horror that in addition to this extremely pimped out Nightmare with a Slave Omega in cargo, Scius has also lost his Revelation. A Revelation fitted with 8 cargo expander IIs. TS gets VERY ****ING QUITE as we process this brace ourselves for the coming storm. After loosing the Nightmare, Scius had undocked in his Revelation (which was fitted with the cargo expanders for jumping his stuff) and attacked the Nyx with no support.
He predictably dies a horrible and shameful death and when asked "WTF were you thinking!?" he responds that he needed to "avenge his honor." Eyebrows go up around the world and then RF snaps. We have the TS recording somewhere and its ****ing scary; RF goes completely ape**** demands that White Noise kick Scius and then declares Scius KOS for facilitating Exuro Mortis's first ever capital ship loss.
There is then a COAD thread in which basically all of EvE mocks and berates Scius for his stupidity, none more viciously than Slackers. But still, Scius remains adamant that he did the right thing and accuses us of being cowards with no honor for not helping him (which was utterly impossible to do.) There are photoshops lampooning his set-up, the term 'honor tank' is coined for the use of cargo expander IIs on a pvp ship, I believe even some haiku were written, and Scius is laughed out of the game.
Months later he posts in a thread and by then it appears that the strain has taken its toll and he has lost his mind. I've not seen or heard from him since and it is believed that the character was abandoned as no one was willing to buy it and the infamy that came with it.

Edited by: FatFreddy on 20/01/2009 12:03:10 ^That was a good read.
I have lost several ships due to stupidity, but none of the stories are really noteworthy. What made me chuckle recently was my trip to have a look around 00. So I take a T1 PVP-fitted Rifter and head out, make a couple jumps, nothing happens. Decide I had enough and head back. In N-RAEL I get warp disrupted maybe 30-40km in front of the gate. A lone Manticore starts targeting me and I decide to make a run for the gate. AB on, approaching the gate, getting hit by Cruise Missiles. Adrenaline starts pumping, until I notice he misses me/does little damage and the damage stops at Armor. Realizing I may have a chance, I turn around and approach him, he overshoots because of his MWD, I lock, web and scramble him, then, in seconds he goes *poof*. I am sitting there, thinking: "Did I just win my first fight? Oh yeah, I did!". I scoop his cargo and calculate, upon the modules and the ship, that he just lost around 30-50mil of equipment to a 1mil Rifter. Local stays silent, no gf or anything, and I nearly get his pod when he warps to the gate about 1min after that. Good day, that was. |

I have also lost ships in low sec doing real stupid ****. Most of it due strictly to panic. None really stand out. Now I realize that going into low sec space is a risk and when I have gotten popped I usually nod and accept it with one exception: Clowns who attack in deadspace while you are on a mission. Again like I said I know that going into low sec is a risk and part of the game...Cool; my own ignorance gets me into trouble there. When I approach a gate in low sec, get jammed and then popped good on the guy who took advantage of my ignorance. This being said however I hate the guys who can't seem to wait and attack you while you are on a mission. This happened to me last night and although this guy could have probably taken my ship out in a straight fight; he chose (in my opinion anyway) a chicken **** way to do it. If i have earned a darwin award it is strictly for believing that all people PvP'd in an honorable way. |

I'm the Minnie militia. Bought a brand new Vagabond in Rens. Full T2 fit + rigs. My home base is in Emolgranlan. Set Autopilot to Emolgranlan (all hi-sec jumps) and go out to the convenience store for a soda and a bag of chips. I come back to see myself in my clone station. Apparently the ship made it to Emolgranlan and sat at the gate for a while. Along came an Amarr militia guy in a Wolf, destroyed my Vaga and then podded me with all my implants. Total loss: probably upwards of 300 million. The money is chump change compared to the embarrassment I felt. |

I was talking to some corpies about killrights, asking them if they've ever popped anyone or been popped this way. That very same day, I was autopiloting my Myrm back through highsec after some disappointing PvE plex crap and went AFK.
Came back and found myself in my pod after a Russian Rapier pilot who had killrights on me made a very lucky discovery ^^
Loss was minimal because fit was cheap; it's weird because I had just been talking about it, and knew that I would be looking at a pod when I came back from being AFK because my spidey senses tingle like a mother****er. The Darwin part is that I went AFK anyways... |

This is right after the Lofty scam got pulled and it was no longer ok to shoot gang mates.
So, after getting my RL friends to finally play, we dedcided to do some missions to give the newbs some spending money...oy...
I'm in my Domi in a mission that has tons of spawns all over the place, so I dock back up and attach a large SB to handle the masses... (I know)... One of my friends joined my corp and another had decided to be in a corp that his university buddies are in. I fleet them and get in the thick of it and (after telling them about the Lofty being through) tell them, "Ok, warp to me" while the SB was going.
I was trying to teach then a very expensive, I mean valuable lesson...

Once upon a time...
I was getting my first adrenaline rushes visiting 0.4 with my friend. So, we found out that there was npc rats near gate and we killed them. We wasnt in fleet but we killed same targets.
I tried to rush to the wreck and wanted to loot it but my friend was closer and got there first. (you know.. bad skills, slow ships, eager mind)
So i decided to use nos at his wreck and try to scare him with that red glow.. Just when the red glow started my ship went boom. Concord sentries taught me something useful..
Oh those noob times when loss of Omen hurt like hell.

While I have lots of these myself my personal favorite was only a ship lost not a podding.
Was doing some L4s for isk. warped into blockade. My ship shredded in a few seconds...stupidly tried to figure out what happened..
to realize that it said Mammoth on the loss mail...not typhoon.
My ceo had a blast with that one. My only defence was they both ugly...and brown..and i was drunk.
second funniest was testing a new setup on munnin against a vagabond. I broke his tank and stopped firing..he went afk and kept me scrambled and popped me. (Was a corp mate).

I got podded once because I didn't know, at the time, that you could "Warp to within 0Km" of the gate then activate it. I thought this always had to be done with AP, and spent many a moment in low sec running ABs for that last 15Km.

Back in the day in low sec placid, we were a small group of pirates around uphallant. We had this group of industrial bears poking around and we decided one day it would be a hell'ova laugh to send one of them to our pos (as they were smack talking us in local from docking distance of stations etc).
So we nice talked one of them and ganged him up while he was in station. Funnily enough, our pos was in direct line of the undock from said station...
Gang warp... to pos. One scorpion downed from a tower. Lol's all round.
Funny thing is, hes actually in my militia now.

Edited by: Lord Shirak on 27/01/2009 00:47:34 I played high sec lvl4 mission with 2 characters. Hand of zazmatazz, if I remember. Same fleet, not the same corps. While the BS popped the enemies, the destroyer collected the loot. The mission ended without problems, and my alt had collected all the loot and salvage. I checked the destie's cargo and found some narcotics. I didn't want to keep them. What could I do with them in the heart of Amarr Empire? They are nothing, but standing-loss. So I jettisoned them from the Coercer, and (die evil jetcan, die! ) popped with the BS. Now what is that red "Agression..." text in the upper left corner? Where is my ship? Why i'm sitting in POD? Concord? What Concord? Oh no! This is high sec! So I lost a full T2 fitted and rigged Armageddon, but at least I "killed" 10 blue pills and 10 death sticks. Surely it was worth...
The second one was the same situation with the same characters. I learned this: Never, never jump to 0 with your alt onto yourself, when you forget to switch off the ECM Burst. The destie arrived to loot, suddenly I saw familiar red letters in the upper left corner... So a full T2 fitted rigged Apoc went to the Concord.

My best Darwin award was...
I undocked from a station in low sec, thier was an abaddon waiting for me, I target to engadge and launch drones
I get that very anoying and understood "failed to target" so I need to retarget,..then I get it again on the 3rd targeting attempt i'm about 60% armor i disengadge to redock but I managed to target finaly...and the drones!!! could not redock and barly scratched the abaddon.
Any one else ever got that failed to target, i get it every now and then, quite rare, What is it!?

my darwin awards from back when i was more of a noob than i am today(still a noob)
after only 3 months, bought my first raven, saw cheap HEAVY MISSILE ammo(couldnt fit cruise yet), ammo was 1 jump into low-sec, took my raven with NO fit at all, and no insurance...gate camp and died in under 30 seconds , I had that raven for less than 5 total minutes. To make the story even better, it had been sitting in my hanger for 6 days because i didn't have skill to fly it yet
my 2nd raven, was running lvl 2 missions in 0.1 space..was fitted with standard missiles and light drones, on my third mission lost it to a gate camp |

I was pretty much a NOOB when this happened, but maybe someone will see this and not be another Darwin winner. I'm in hi sec in an Osprey using drones to pop NPC rats and salvaging them. I decide to salvage some wrecks not my own and accidentally sic my drones on them. Yellow wrecks and drones don't mix. At least Concord doesn't pod you. |

Just a few days ago we were mining in a high sec system and this guy in a Raven jumps in. He open fire and hits my shield fitted Hulk with a full volley, I'm down to 20% shields. Then he switch target and sent a volley on another hulk before concorded. Ok, probably his first go at PvP, everyone can make mistakes. But.... 40 minutes later he comes back in another Raven and does exactly the same. So he is out two Ravens in 40 minutes and nothig to show for it. If he hadn't switched target after one volley he could probably have taken out my hulk, but twice he did it. He must have seen 6 missiles wasn't enough the first time, but he still changed target after one volley when he came back...
The drunk guy popping his own alt was hillarious.

I've lost a muninn once cause I warped to what I thought was a safe moon, turn out a hostile PoS was there ....
I selected warp and switched to my falcon scout alt, tabbed back 2 minutes later finding myself in my pod...
Also, and this didn't result in losses, when FC'ng once I was a bit drunk and sooooooo tired i said to the fleet, "ye guys, lets dock for a sec,go to the toilet or whatever, back here in 10 minutes".
3 hours later I wake up in station (since I had docked) with my entire fleet gone back home without me...

Oh lordy...when I was but a wee nublet, I was taking my newly fitted, very expensive (for a noob!) Kestrel through some systems...and one of them was Rancer. I knew nothing about Rancer at the time.
I warped in, saw the blob, freaked out, and high-tailed it to the next gate...where a Megathron promptly let loose with a full rack of large smart bombs. I didn't even know what happened, I just heard this incredibly loud "BANG!", and my ship disappeared in a blue flash, followed by my pod.
I don't go to Rancer any more... |

I was about 8k away from the structure when it was destroyed and blew up with a big bang that took out my ship.

I am a week old so I am a utter noob.
First death was autopiloting through a lowsec jump.
Joined pvp corp.
2nd death I jumped without reading the intel's channel. There was that 10 sec pause when you see that 17 ships + drones while you are in a warp bubble with no way to leave.
3rd death was having multiples windows up and not checking local.
4th death we were in a gang and we were taking this ship and fleet leader said warp as soon as he dies. As he was dying his buddies came up and I autotargeted something, instead of warping to the next stargate I warped straight to the enemy gang.

Edited by: Zylithi on 12/02/2009 08:10:25 Here's a couple...
a) When i was a nubbin I spent 3 weeks in the starter system building up my character until i thought I was "pvp-ready." The reason? I had run the assumption that anything below 1.0 was like the ghetto, where concord only shows up (sec.stat x 100)% of the time.
b) A member of my corp was drunk (note the corp name) and accidentally built 15 million heavy scourge missiles. He didn't notice until like a week later, when he went to build something else.
c) Flying a freighter through lowsec genesis with only a caldari shuttle as scout. Hmm...
d) Flying an "Honor tanked" rokh with 6 mining lasers and 2 shield transporters in case somebody came to the belt looking for some yarr.
e) Two months old, I joined a corp that was a member of FLA. I foolishly decided to fly my raven through EC-P8R. I quit for a month after that, lol.

Ages ago when a Navy Megathron was still around a billion ISK - long before the LP store - I finally got my first offer for a Navy Megathron, something I had been waiting for since I started running missions. Since my agent was in low sec I didn't fly it out of the station very often because I hadn't decided yet if I want to sell or keep it, but then I get a storyline mission two systems over. I found it nice and fitting to take the Navy Mega to run such an important mission and fitted it for max tank and mediocre gank - I did not know the mission and there was no report yet since it was shortly after a patch. It started out nice and easy against EoM who do Kin and Therm damage, damage I could easily tank especially since I recently bought a nice X-Type hardener (300M give or take). The third or forth stage however has mercenaries that do a lot of explosive damage and my tank slowly died. So I aligned my 1.5 billion ship to a station and kept pounding the NPCs planning to do a few warp-outs, removing as many NPCs before I have to run. When my armor was almost completely red I recalled drones and started warping. The ship did not warp but instead slooooowly turned away from my escape spot and I sat there open-mouthed. By the time I had figured out that there are TWO stations with a similar name in the system and I had aligned to one, but tried warping to the other there wasn't enough time to re-align before structure went down too.
Of course the X-Type did not survive the blast either.

#1
1. Forgot I was not in low sec.
2. Got excited when I saw a hulk on scan at a belt.
3. Flew in, uncloaked, scrammed and was surprised when I blew up. It took a minute to realize that concord got me, and I was in high sec. I lost a nice rapier that way...
#2
1. Engaged in a fight in low sec in my rapier, and got dangerously low into structure.
2. Luckily, my fleet showed up and neuted the frig that was tackling me, so I got away with 10% structure left. I warped off to a safe, and heard that some more ships were coming back.
3. Eager to quickly rejoin the fight, and thinking 2 minutes had passed, I warped to the station to dock and rep up. Unfortunately, warp to 0 doesn't actually warp you at 0, but drops you off 2.5km away some times (logic, CCP?)
4. Station guns nabbed me and I lost yet another shiny rapier..

Edited by: Batelle on 13/02/2009 02:13:25 Edited by: Batelle on 13/02/2009 02:08:54 Two related stories of ME dying, and one AWESOME story of some other idiot.
A year and a few months ago, I reactivated my account and joined a new corp in pureblind. I had never really done much pvp before, so I was pretty excited taking my ishkur out with a AF/inty/HAC gang roaming pureblind and 0.0. We were holding on the EC gate, waiting for some friendlies to come in from hisec. A deimos jumps in, gets instantly pointed by our inties and we lay into him. I decide to do my part by mwding right up to the deimos to get my web and blasters on him. Deimos kills me in seconds, before the rest of the gang takes him down. Lesson learned, when in a smaller ship, stay the **** away from a deimos. km here http://homeless.griefwatch.net/?p=details&kill=2530 br
Two days later, I have a NEW ishkur fitted. I undock from our station and see a neutral kestrel. I ask my CEO if I should kill it. He replies, "NBSI mother****er." so I take out the kestrel. I post the mail, and am sitting still in front of the station, glowing from my first pvp kill. Seconds later, I've got hammerheads on me and I'm dying FAST. minus 1 ishkur. I dock my pod and check my mail. I'd been killed by a Moros, from a corporation that was blue to us. I'd popped his npc corporation cyno-alt. My CEO finds out I was killed by a blue, in 15 minutes we'd popped one of their falcons and talked to their CEO. I got an apology from the Moros pilot and 30m isk reimbursement. He'd been under the incorrect assumption that the locals were all NRDS, and hadn't announced his cyno alt in local. I don't think any of the other corps I'd been in would have stood up for me like that, considering I was new to the corp and new to pvp.
My km http://homeless.griefwatch.net/?p=details&kill=2571 Ishkur was pve fit because I was running lvl 2's with mordus to get standing.
About two months later, we had one of our roving gangs running by our old home, and just before jumping the gate, we see a gatefire, +1 neutral. An imicus decloaks after a few seconds and gets killed and podded.
Here is the KM http://homeless.griefwatch.net/?p=details&kill=3552 My chatlog with the guy is in comment, check the isk lost.
The entire hold is full of blueprints, god knows how much they'd been researched, including six battleship blueprints. According to the convo with the guy they were ALL bpos.
And here's the kicker.
One of the... slower... pilots in the gang locks and destroys the wreck by accident.
Moral of the story... don't move BILLIONS OF ISK IN BLUEPRINTS through 0.0 in a cargo expanded t1 frigate with NO SCOUT WHATSOEVER. ESPECIALLY if that region is pureblind, and not a giant bluefest.
EC-P8R... You will never find a more wretched hive of s****and villainy. |

Back in late 05, when i was a few weeks old, i took my shiny new Caracel into a 0.3 for giggles and a bit of ratting. I warp into the first belt and start locking up the rats thinking "wow! Look at those bounties. This is great."
So im in the belt for a few seconds and im laying into one of the rat cruisers when my shields evaporate. What the hell?! 6-7 seconds later there goes half my armor. By now im in panic mode and spam clicking my warp button. So i land 15km off the only station in system and im trying to think what could have happened. What had hit me?
I get a convo at about the same time telling me that if i came back, i was going to die. What?
It turns out that the belt i had warped into was occupied by an Apoc happily mining away. When i warped in and targeted the rats, i had targeted him as well without noticing he was even there. He of course returned my lock, though he at first held his fire. When he saw my missiles loosed towards the rats he assumed i was engaging him and he lit me up. I explained what had happened and we both had a few laughs.
During the course of the convo i had warped from the station to the second belt in the system intending to continue my ratting.
Im in this belt for no more than 30 seconds when a guy shows up in a Claw and promptly engages me. Unfortunately for him my Cara was fit with assault launchers. The light misssile spam put him into structure in a few seconds and he warped off - smacking local the whole way. Even more unfortunate for him, he warped to the station in his haste to escape. The sentry guns popped him near instantly.
I had recieved my first killmail

Was just a week or so ago, fleet warped in to a friendly pos being sieged by I think around 30 Dreads. Was pretty safe just skirting shields popping dictors. Ended up at 0 speed on the bubble edge and an observant Moros pilot decided to alpha my Zealot. I thought I'd desynced, everything just went red and modules died, only worked out what happened once I saw the killmail :P
Note to self: Next time *orbit* the POS. :( ________

Led a gang of 2 cyclones, a drake and a few cruisers into lowsec, might i add i had drunk a bottle of strongbow, aggressed a neutral brutix on the gate, got him to 10% structure but failed to bump him off, he jumped. A pilgrim and an abaddon warped in, so i ordered the gang to jump through the gate, of course forgetting we all had GCC and it was highsec :S, where the caldari navy wiped our whole fleet in about 5 secs, to make matters worse the brutix took all our loot.

this is a darwinistic noob fest compared to the exploits of one pilot im familiar with. to help protect the innocent ill refrain from naming names but this individual -
- while drunk undocked a multi-billion faction ship into a station camp then was banned by the GMs after a local channel tirade laced with enough colorful expletives to make a sailor cringe.
- left a MS parked on top of an outpost and passed out drunk. after a red fleet caught wind of the situation and came to spank upon it a blue fleet repelled the attack and guarded it till down time.
- left a MS un-babysat in a CSMA which then disappeared
there are other stories but these few are enough to clearly win the award. |
