How do you get it so high? I've got an 64 3500+, ATI X800Pro and still only get 30fps! :( :( :( I have 1 gig of DDR333 ram, so that shouldn't be a bottleneck.
Are you running it with ATI's Overdrive on? (I am, but still the 30 fps at 1280x960!)

I havent done anything special to get it to run that fast just took it out the box and plugged it in reinstalled the drivers and direct x 9c i score 25000 3d marks 2001se and just over 10000 3dmarks 2003 no overclocking nothing.
guess im just lucky but surely this is how the card is supposed to perform

Well, I wasnt saying the Pipeline wasnt the only problem, but it was one of them. The CPU would be the other.
Anyway, I'm not sure if PCI-X even supports AGP cards, and if it does, then the card still dont have 8.8 transfer to match anyway.

Hmmm youll be lucky to get a pci-x motherboard as far as i know only intel xeon boards support pci-x. pci-express on the other hand should be widely available very soon but latest benchmarks show no improvement using pci-express cards and there probably wont be any improvements until the next iteration of pci-express similar to the sata thing at the mo oh and with my soft-modded x800pro i get over 13000 3dmark 03 points now :)

I know that you get a higher fps by turning off vsync, but it should really be on. Otherwise, the picture will update in the graphics card as it's being sent to the monitor, causing some graphic glitches (and it'll also put more stress to the gpu than necessary, as it sometimes gets a (very short) "time-out" with vsync on).

Hm did you increase the AGP aperture size in the BIOS as well? It did it for me when I increased the 32MB standard setting to the 128MB to match my GFX cards RAM...
worth a try...

AGP aperture size seems to be a setting that everybody disagrees on what to set it to. Some recommend setting it to the lowest, others to the highest, and most ppl probably never change it and leave it at the default. I've never really understood that one. Setting it to match the memory of the gfx card makes sense, and in any case it can't hurt to tweak it (if it fails, just revert to the pervious setting.

AGP should be set at either 25% or 50% of your current RAM size.

How can you guys see the fps ?
Is there a command in the prefs.ini or something to enable it ? Or even a 3rd party program ?

Lets you see your fps as well as loads of other networking/memory info.
Alternatively you can use FRAPS, a third party progrm which will show your frame rate and let you record videos of the game running if you want to.

Hiya
Just wanted to add my 243 norwegian kroner on X800 and EVE.
Inserted an X800XT PE Asus card today, disabled fastwrites and installed the rad_w2kxp_omega_2558_7z.exe drivers at default settings.
Used to have a ti4600 card earlier.. fps has only risen by 4 or 5 and is between 20 and 30 now.
The big thing is load times, faster smoother.. everything is a bit more snappy and crisp.
The rest of my system is a bit old but this new gfx card really livens things up. ..
Basic specs atm. Dual AMD 2800MP on an MSI K7Master-L with 1.5 gigs of reg 2100 memory.
Oh.. the bilboard works to ;) the fps thing makes me wonder tough... with any other game it goes to the roof but with eve its like nothing..
for the moment im happy with the faster loadtimes
/cheers
