Title says it all... Dear CCP, can a non-Chinese player play on Serenity in a "legal" manner ? In particular, an EU (or an USA) citizen, who never was in China and never plans to go there (except as a tourist) ? And if yes, how exactly would he go about doing it ?

IIRC, he was physically *IN* China when he did it. Goes without saying, not really planning to pull a similar performance
P.S. I'm not talking about just doing a trial or somesuch, but actually paying for an account and playing for months/years over there.

Where does one buy one of these ships (besides 'in china')?

Why would you do this ? Or can you speak and type chinese ? Do you have chinese keyboard, like in James Bond "Tomorrow never die" ?

It's not necessary to use the "James Bond" keyboard. They do have stickies and software. ---------------- Mutatis Mutandis |

Been watching the "East meets West" lecture by Doc EyjoG (from Fanfest) and it seems to me that the Serenity server is severely lacking in the area of market manipulators... ...so it struck me as an awfully enticing thing to mess with, a relatively fresh and unsuspecting market
You don't really need to know the language at all to play the market

I can just see it now. A bunch of Chinese players, sitting around trying to figure out why...Akita T keeps buying civilian modules and marking them up 1000%.

I'm curious why exactly have this restriction. Whether it's a policy decision by CCP or in some way related to the gaming laws that required the server's creation in the first place.
I know quite a few Chinese-American eve players would be interested in being able to pop in to this server, either permanently or just from time to time. Is there any hope of some type of official explanation on this, please? |

IIRC, the Chinese law (or regulation) regarding online gaming states that MMOs have to limit a person's online time (reduce gains if they exceed some value, cut gains if they go above another higher value, etc) Not sure how exactly this applies to EVE, but I can only guess something akin to "sorry we have to kick you out in 15 minutes" or somesuch. Theoretically, you need the ID so you can track who is playing (and probably even correlate gameplay data across multiple games so that the person can't play 6 hours EVE, 6 hours WoW, 6 hours some other game and only sleep/eat/whatever 6 hours daily).

I wouldn't mind being subjected to all possible restrictions the Chinese players are restricted to, as long as I can legally log in there. Heck, I wouldn't mind even if ADDITIONAL restrictions would be placed on top of that, to a level that would satisfy the Chinese game operator and/or the Chinese autorities.
