Ive always been interested in future applications of things including Eve Online even if they never make it. Things like viceroyalties and storefronts [which havn't made it yet] to wormholes and tier 3 battlecruisers which are in-game and the upcoming stuff like new modules and destructable outposts.
So what will be in EvE Online in 10 years time?
Personally I predict that PI and DUST 514 will become intertwined with starships able to blast PI facilties. Maybe space elevators will make an appearance along with new PI facilties suggested by players such as libraries for creating skill books. Sov will change from being artificial as in simply putting down a structure in space to being more believable in putting down goverment structures down on planets. Those modular pos's shown at fanfest might appear too. Low sec only PI facilties will be able to create special module/implant blueprints. Implants can be created. Spaceships will no longer have insurance. Independent faction frigates and cruisers like the Medusa, Styx and Ixion will be able to be created.
Ships will have sub-systems that can be targetted. There will be tech 3 frigates, battlecruisers and battleships. Jovian ships will be able to be flown with explosive and kinetic crystals. Pirate faction specific battlecruisers which look different. A couple more 0.0 sec regions. NPC 0.0 will be able to be controlled by players. Being able to gamble with players through Incarna and meeting DUST players in-station to beratethem for not fighting hard enough. Greater interaction with your ship. Capital ships become a multiplayer enterprise where multiple capsuleers are required to pilot all systems. Comet mining and solar mining! Factions will be able to conquer each others systems. Dynamic sec status change of systems.
Of course if those things arrive I will be no longer interested in them and will keep pining for the new features/iteration |

Hyperspace to untangle the mess that are the jump drive mechanics. You travel fast in a straight line from system to system but you can only hot drop if you are next door anyway. Hyperspace would further allow super capitals to have something special by allowing them to stay in hyperspace for as long as they wish and serve as a base of operation behind enemy lines.
What leads to a overhaul to super capitals in general. They need completely new game mechanics to give them a role. They will over time become multiplayer ships and deep space operation bases. Since losing one needs to be a massive hurt, they can't be as invincible as they are now to small arms fire. Sub system targeting was on the drawing board for quite some time and would make it possible to hurt supers without actually destroying them. Replacing parts would be pricy instead of having a few carrier pilots bored for some time.
Sub system targeting would be helpful for destructable outposts. It would solve the problem of players that don't play right now and lose all their stuffz in an outpost explosion. Holding space should be a real commitment and being unable to defend space should hurt more then just pride. With blowing individual parts of stations up, that commitment can be moved down to individual pilots instead of some leadership that just wanders off to new shores.
EVE will grow bigger over time and will get more gameplay - as it should. When someone burns down your sandcaste, bring sausages. |

Stock Markets
Wormhole Galaxy Exploration, Colonization, and Civiliziating (building star gates and starbases out there)
Walking on planets
Walking in ships
Netwonian reactor mode instead of using the gravity drive.
Being able to warp from star to star circumventing gates and reach star systems without gates.
Wormhole drives.

The greatest thing about eve is that it didn't start from the ground up. It started in the biggest possible way, and there really is no limit as to what you can accomplish. Here are the things I want to happen:
- Dynamic security status change
- Exploration a full profession not a mini-one
- FPS exploration of planets for artifacts/valuables. Going into a volcano with ruins on a magma planet, exploring a ruined city on a temperate planet. Ice caves on barren planets, etc etc
- Modules (hand-held in FPS) for this type of exploration that you can use to upgrade your character with.
- More versatility in sites, more fluent and exciting methods of finding said sites.
- Make exploration more what it sounds like. An adventure, a story arc. Less grind more "eyes glued to the screen" immersion. Merge chronicles with exploration.
- Entire skill set dedicated to exploration (Better chance to find artifacts, better artifacts, etc. Something along those lines)
- Make tasks such as Salvaging, Hacking, and Analyzing mini-games instead of just clicking a module. Skills would make the salvage, hacking, and archaeology loot better.
- An entire class of exploration ships. Each one has either a salvaging bonus, hacking bonus, or archaeology bonus. Maybe one with less of each bonus but all of them? (I.E. 1 ship with 5% increase in ____ skill per level of ____ ship skill. Ship with everything gives 2% increase in ____ skill per level of ____ ship skill)
- Give grav sites some exploration factor and not just mining belts.
- Make wormholes something that explorers shouldn't "sigh" when they find, but rather get extremely happy about. AKA make wormhole exploration somewhat solo friendly while maintaining the group aspect.
- New module that can be put in space to passively scan (while you are doing something else or afk) for sites every 30 minutes or hour. Make it pretty expensive with a good amount of skills required. Give a limit to how many you can have going at one time in a skill book.
- Keep the ability to passively mine, but add in a mini-game feature that lets you deeply analyze an asteroid and pick out the good bits.
- Give exhumers more PG and fitting options.
- Solar mining, moon mining, planet mining, deep core planet mining. Add new and intuitive, yet fun and learn-able games
that come with these.
- Add more skills for the actual mining process.
This is just off the top of my head. Let me know what you think. There's really so many things you can do with this game. A section about guns and ships would be astronomical. |

It will gain popularity.
Its influence on EVE Online will grow.

I've got 3 typical answers for your question :
-who cares?
-when we get there we'll see!
-I'll be giving my money to someone else by that time.

This is the most likely scenario, though in my case I'll probably stop online gaming altogether and go back to FOSS projects. Nagios/Icinga's horrible process monitoring is really starting to grate.
The second would be that cash-strapped governments start taxing every MMO or social game with a subscription, and CCP takes EvE FTP in self-defense.
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

2013: CCP Games realizes that every piece of advice uttered by player Istvaan Shogaatsu has been worth gold, improved the game, and increased subscriber numbers. Recognizing the divine correctness of his will, CCP hires Shogaatsu as creative czar, a newly created position with oversight into all aspects of Eve Online, and Dust 514.
2014: Following the implementation of Shogaatsu's "Veteran Player Initiative," where Eve's most dedicated and long-term players are awarded with the ability to create powerful vessels befitting their status, subscriber numbers soar to 80,000 concurrent/750,000 subscribed. Many lapsed veterans are drawn back to the game. The sudden spike in population fills CCP's coffers with hitherto-unseen amounts of funds, and under Shogaatsu's blessed advice, 15,000 further star systems are added to 0.0 space in a gradual campaign of exploration, mapping and gate-building which is left entirely up to the players.
2015: CCP Games becomes the largest, wealthiest business in Iceland. Eve Online, now relatively seamlessly integrated into Dust 514, makes the move to the newly launched PlayStation 4. While Eve Online's subscriber numbers are level at 100,000 concurrent/1.5 million, Dust 514 becomes "the reason people buy a PS4" after Shogaatsu's comprehensive re-design of planetary surfaces, and implementation of mass-destruction/tectonic effects, allowing players to bombard a radiant Eden-world until it looks like a ball of fire and challenging Dust mercenaries to fight on a planet as it was unmade around them.
2016: CCP Games completes a hostile acquisition of Sony's Playstation division.
2017: CCP Games completes a hostile acquisition of Sony Corporation.
2018: CCP Games completes takeover of Iceland, with 91.3% of the nation's population employed as GMs to manage the New Eden combined universe population of millions. (The remaining 8.7% are employed in 'shroom farms.) CCP Games renames Iceland to Sexland, tourism economy soars.
2019: Istvaan Shogaatsu, now scientifically proven to never be wrong, assumes command of NATO. All non-compliant nations brought brutally to heel by exoskeleton-armoured orbital drop troops trained on a strict regimen of Dust 514. Military resistance is swept aside.
2020: With mankind united under the golden leadership of Imperator Shogaatsu, and the hopeful vision of the future provided by the New Eden simulation (now subscribed to by 23.873% of humankind) all scientific research turns toward the conquest of space.
2023: The Indonesian betrayal.
2024: The extermination of Indonesia.
2030: Beginning of the first Decade WIthout War in recorded history.
2040: First child born on Mars.
2045: Fusion power.
2050: Peak oil. It comes largely un-noticed.
2075: Global pollution levels reduced to pre-industrial-revolution status.
2100: Establishment of Titan colony. First auto-constructor ships leave for Gliese 581.
---
So yeah, basically do what I say or the world ends. Step 1: ships for veterans! |

It will happen, they have already over taxed everything you can drink eat or breath, even sex directly and indirectly are controlled and taxed, you just don't realise it because you are educated to not do it.
Internet is just at birth but countries like France are already over it to find ways to tax you by all possible means for "each click" (oc it's not per click but by content etc) -for the meanwhile their banks, just like American banks, haven't reimbursed public money they got to get out of "crisis" while still publishing hideous profits and taxing country debt interests for billions of our money
Awesome stuff
