great baitships though. i suggested this to my corp loads of times but nobody was prepared to fly it (for obvious reasons).
leaves all your mids free for points & webs and highs for nos/neut/smarties, and by the time the enemy gang realise you're hull-tanking your gang should be ontop of them. killmail-lust should keep them there even when local spikes since normally hull = f*cked. i'd imagine it'd only work once though.

Wow, not too bad. But wouldn't a buffer tank be better if you play bait? Something like: Bait gets jumped, aggressor doesn't call in his friends since he can "finish off this noob alone", while he is chewing through bait's hull, gang arrives. |

Uhh, I've run the numbers for a Moros, and I suspect they'll be the same for a Rev.
If you set up your Moros with a T2 damage control and a full rack of T2 reinforced bulkheads, and also there's a 5% hull HP implant, you can hit something like 3,500,000 effective HP omni buffer tank. This WAAAAY outclasses even faction resistance armor tanks.
I was setting up my moros with faction energized armor thingies and maxed armor skills, and getting something around 1.5 million EHP, and in siege mode, running the rep until cap was drained, and then as soon as I had any cap, not firing any guns, something like 2.7M EHP. The hull buffer tank does way better than that.
Yeah.
Edit: really only viable in a situation where you have access to a 0.0 station where repairs are free. Repairing this in-station in empire would bankrupt you, and to repair by repping, you'd be talking sitting inside a pos with a full rack of hull reppers going for probably a day. --
Sig under construction.

Those are perhaps the worst hull tanks I've ever seen. It's all about buffer not repairing.

Those are probably the best active hull tanks you'll ever see too.
Still, that was rather the point. So CPU-heavy that even the rokh has to fit a CPU booster and still the DPS tanking sucks.
Perhaps its just semantics or somesuch but when I hear "hull tanking" I think "active," same with armor and shield. Buffer tanking is just that, buffer, no matter what you buffer, often listed as "armor buffer tanking" or "buffer tank the shields" or somesuch, but normally as I read just flat x tanking is more often than not active non-buffer tanking which was the view I posted from.
That aside my post was pretty much to show how bad an idea active hull tanking would be, not to promote it as a viable idea.
Though a 120 tank 1k+ DPS dominix *might* be useful in L3 missions.... If you can't fly a battlecruiser. |
