Evening All,
I would like to know where it is possible to download Jon Hallur's quality music of EvE? I know you can download a few of the songs from this site, but I would to get hold of a few songs that are within the game as well?
Is there any available for purchase on the likes of Napster, iTunes, etc.?
I particularly like the songs:
All Which Was Lost...... Times of Sanguinity
Please, Please help me!!!

Get Dragon Unpacker: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Programming/File-Editors/Dragon-UnPACKer.shtml
and extract the music from the resmusic.stuff in your install directory. Most likely C:\program files\ccp\eve\

Assuming you weren't being sarcastic... a lot of players mute EVE for most activities either because a) they have music of their own, b) they're on Teamspeak/Ventrilo, or c) they're tanking a ton of incoming fire which, collectively, get rather loud and prevent players from concentrating on the battle at hand.

i actually love eve's music, but combat sounds are just horrible. i talk of turrets and missiles making disproportionately loud sounds that cover everything else up, including music.
eve doesnt have a dial to turn down sound effects. it has master volume which includes music. this is absolutely moronic |

Nope, not being sarcastic at all, I genuinely like some of EvE's music and I actually want to download it onto my MP3 player so that i can listen to it when not playing the game. But some of the songs that I like can't be downloaded from this site, so that's why I was wondering if it is possible to download them from a music site or something along them lines

The music in Eve is very good, I regularly listen to them, and aren't they releasing the music in 5.1 also?

Or d) they're engaging in a large fleet battle or POS bash. Believe it or not, having the sound on with 50+ people firing their lazors actually lags the game out. I didn't believe it my first time ether but as soon as I turned off the sound I experienced an instant 300% performance increase with the EVE client.
I believe someone once said that the missile explosion sound file is 27 seconds long but only has something like 5 seconds worth of actual sound in it. I don't know how accurate or true that is, however. EVE's sound engine is kinda crap and completely unoptimized as far as coding goes though. |

Edited by: permion on 16/01/2009 01:27:06 Record the sound yourself, there's lots and lots of apps that let you grab the sound your compy is playing.
That's assuming you can't get them anywhere else... Since the quality won't be nearly as high.

As far as I know all new releases will be in 5.1 (I know Jon is working on it).

I just posted HD versions of all the music on eve-files.

Who remembers the intro music for Red Moon Rising that played while you logged into your account?
It was dark and suspenseful.....and awesome.
Can we get that back, or at least a clip to listen to for old time's sake? |

I would actually listen to the eve music if it was possible to mute the background sounds, but tbh the warp sound (which was fun the first 500 times) is now about as fun as having someone shove razor wire in my ears and THERE"S NO WAY TO MUTE THE GAME SOUNDS WITHOUT MUTING THE MUSIC. |

That's assuming he was getting frames by the second. When you jump into a massive fleet battle sometimes you're lucky to see frames per hour.

Was there not a way to do the reverse? Play music from your MP3 library in Eve through the eve player? |

Not anymore.
They secured the client to not accept playlist overrides in the resources directory.

Edited by: Infinaci on 16/01/2009 23:52:38 Eve is not an acronym...
Eve, eve, EVE [because of the logo]
Please don't be offended, I'm innocently curious where the "EvE" comes from when some refer to the game. Perhaps influence from WoW?
Does anyone know?

QFT, this should have it's own volume control, this is really basic stuff

Not an acronym, but it should always be in all capitals.
Not sure of the origin of 'EvE', possibly some people simply like the look of the small v. I seem to remember jokes about people writing it like that...
But back on topic!

I tried using the Dragon Unpacker but was unable to extract any sound files with it. Is there a short list of instructions to operate the program? Also is there a converter that can be used to concert the extracted file to a Media Player playable format wher I can then burn the music onto a cd that has been extracted?

Check your /res/audio. All the music is in there in a format which I have been unable to play.
resmusic.stuff disappeared when apocrypha appeard with the new sound engine. There are some music rars on eve-files though, just do a search for music there and it will yield some results probably.
Those are all in ogg format which you should be able to play just fine as well as burn to CD with the right codecs. _

I still have a music.stuff file with most of the OGG music files. -----

They finally fixed this problem, more or less. Same sounds no longer overlap themselves so your computer isn't trying to process 500 sounds playing at the same time anymore.

I've definitely brought that up a few times One of my major complaints with the sound system.. and it's still true. Though the actual sound file is more like 16 seconds, and since sounds no longer overlap themselves it isn't a big deal.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |
