Originally by: Dani SP I hate it, when someone is invited and he just rejects the invitation. Worst thing is, you lose those 2950 CSPA-newbie-settings isk anyways.
This is a SOCIAL GAME as far as I know (or maybe im wrong and its all about yellow lasers and red crosses...) It's ok that a dude is shy in real life, but why being so in the computer aswell???
Or do they think Im sending an eve-virus? LOL this is not a msn messenger .exe attached file, but a damn single conversation. Many times im trying to contact haulers, or new miners, or talk about something is happening which can be of his interest. Sigh.
I reject everyone, simply because I find you all disgusting and loathsome.

It is an MMO, I interact with people all the time. Just not by talking. Latlely my salvagers have been doing all the communication.
I noticed if you set your CSPA to 1 million ISK nobody convo's you anymore. |

Beats me. Probably some no-life who has nothing better to do then to bother innocent people who are REALLY REALLY hard trying to be polite and have discussions.

Hardly anyone uses Standard crystals, so that's not really true.
Random Conversations are a problem for several reasons:
1. The invite window is obtrusive, which causes problems when you're doing stuff. Most particularly in pvp, but also in everything else, as it tends to break whatever you're dragging/dropping etc.
2. If accepted, the chat window usually seems to end up occupying an inconvenient area on the screen. This requires the receiver to move it to a convenient space.
3. Chat windows seem to default to small picture and text. reducing the amount of text on screen, making it difficult to follow, unless you're giving it full attention, so you have to switch it to text only, which is an inconvenience.
4. It's one more thing that demands attention, which reduces your concentration on other things.
5. Too many chat windows increases chance of typing something in wrong channel.
So, convoing someone is a significant imposition on them. You're pretty much asking them to stop what they're doing, and to expend some effort (moving windows around etc.) to talk to you. So, unless it's extremely important, or extremely relevant to their interests, it's actually quite rude to convo someone.

Only reason I pretty much generally reject convos is that after I turn on autoreject because of combat or somesuch, I never remember to turn it off again until someone actually tells me it is on... |

Haha! I actually encountered that situation.
It was snowing and wet out and the bus was very late. I had called up the transit services number and talking to them on the phone about what was going on. Suddenly people started to talk to me and to each other about the situation. It was completely different than the usual no-one-talks-to-nobody environment.
So you know what? People are a lot more social than you'd expect. You just need to break through the walls that people surround themselves with. |

I don't feel the need to carry on trivial conversations with every individual who feels like having said conversation. That and most convo attempts are people who want something from you in some way, money (for illegal isk), isk, your time (participating in something you have no desire to participate in), etc.
I talk in corp, and I generally am tabbing around between 3 accounts, so not only do I not frequently notice convo requests for 5-10 mins but if I were to join I would be very slow to respond as I'm not just going to ignore my other accounts while having this little chat. In other words I'm doing them a favor rejecting the convo so they can find someone who will be more dedicated to talking to them. |
