The invite window is obtrusive, which causes problems when you're doing stuff. Most particularly in pvp, but also in everything else, as it tends to break whatever you're dragging/dropping etc. 2. If accepted, the chat window usually seems to end up occupying an inconvenient area on the screen. This requires the receiver to move it to a convenient space. 3. Chat windows seem to default to small picture and text. reducing the amount of text on screen, making it difficult to follow, unless you're giving it full attention, so you have to switch it to text only, which is an inconvenience. 4. It's one more thing that demands attention, which reduces your concentration on other things. 5. Too many chat windows increases chance of typing something in wrong channel. So, convoing someone is a significant imposition on them. You're pretty much asking them to stop what they're doing, and to expend some effort (moving windows around etc.) to talk to you. So, unless it's extremely important, or extremely relevant to their interests, it's actually quite rude to convo someone. Don't ask me about the cows.

That and most convo attempts are people who want something from you in some way, money (for illegal isk), isk, your time (participating in something you have no desire to participate in), etc. I talk in corp, and I generally am tabbing around between 3 accounts, so not only do I not frequently notice convo requests for 5-10 mins but if I were to join I would be very slow to respond as I'm not just going to ignore my other accounts while having this little chat. In other words I'm doing them a favor rejecting the convo so they can find someone who will be more dedicated to talking to them.

He had a thing for turning the accuser into the accused .
