While i'm im a raven/scorp user I have to agree with the previous poster that I don't think you should have to use up all of your slots for trackign mods just to be able to hit other ships.
I do think it hsould be difficult to hit frigates with 1400's but not cruisers and b.s's.

While i'm im a raven/scorp user I have to agree with the previous poster that I don't think you should have to use up all of your slots for trackign mods just to be able to hit other ships.
I do think it hsould be difficult to hit frigates with 1400's but not cruisers and b.s's.

what happened is Tomb and castor patch 10. and you wondered why you saw so many ravens lately. ccp has made it so only lasers and missles do damage now, the other guns just use up ammo. just like in the first 3 months of the game, everyone is using missles and lasers.

It seems you forget how the raven by far was the suckiest battleship in game with 600m/s cruise missiles.

I have a tempest and tried out Projectiles...quickly gave them up and use 425 rails. I only use one low slot dmg mod one low slot tracking enhancer II and a named tracking comp med and hit fairly decently at 60k out...Maybe the Tempest is not the best ship to be using rails on, but it is what i through my money and sp's into.

yes 1400s are borked. They.ve been provn to have a low DOT.
People keep telling me its because they only take 3 power a shot.
But here's the thing. They fire at a base of 23 seconds per shot. factored in with the horrid tracking 1 miss for a 1400 is crippling to a minmatar BS pilot. while someone firing tachyon beams can stand to miss a few times.
Yes I know Tachyons gobble power but I've flown a Apoc with a few cap chargers in low and medium slots I could sustain fire 6 tachyons for 5 minutes. that's roughly 150+ shots.
so no it's not balanced something is seriously wrong with the 1400 artillery pieces, the problem is that from what it looks. the Devs just don't care and have moved on to other areas (drones and cruisers)

watev, 1400s are _artillery_ weapons. they are supposed to be used against stationary targest, such as slow-moving battleships at long range, and stations.

The Tempest has issues maintaining distance though. If I mwd it lights me up like a Christmas tree for any tachs, 425 rail users + the fact that my speed is high means that I start missing shots :(
I really don't mind the Tempest being a long range damage dealer, but it can't really worry another properly tanked battleship that's closing the gap.
My opinion is: if it's meant to be a long range weapons platform, then at least give it a better chance of maintaining the distance. ************
