Look, its not about npc spawns, its about general viability of those guns. Its not that if you find a setup that kills a particular spawn, then there are no problems to be solved. Look, its not about npc spawns, its about general viability of those guns. Its not that if you find a setup that kills a particular spawn, then there are no problems to be solved. Tanking has nothing to do with this. Tanking just takes damage off the ship.
Our problem is creating the damage in the first place.
I am Minmatar. I don't want to use lasers.

ok, i have try'd hitting players in BS's they are not moving, i am at 90km range all the way down to 20km's , using 3 types of ammo, the target ISN'T moving, i am moving at 150m/s in a straight line towards it, ammo is containly firing, target has no hardeners, i have no damage mod's or tracking mod's on, and i STILL don;t get past the 300 mark!! now maybe somthing up with just my char alone, maybe it's not accounting for any of the skills i have, i don;t know
but i do know this, I CAN'T HUNT LIKE THIS!

i am also trying npc spawn, i know they can tank, what i;m trying to point out is that proj's are nerfed, i use phased ammo on a NPC type that i KNOW is weak againest em/thermic, everyone around me uses lasers coz THEY know the local npc's are weak againest em/thermic.
also i have try'd hitting a raven, AND another tempest, with phased ammo, titanium sabot's and nuclear ammo, all have a max damage of 250-300, i'm not getting past 300, i haven't in the past 3 weeks!
conclusion is nerf them too much!

hmm, someone i know with the same rpoblem switched to 1200's. He's pretty content with them, but he's using prototype and scout ones, which does make a difference.

yeah i've had the rare wrecking shot of 900+ but it is to do with DOT surely... when the rate of fire is so slow you expect to be able to pack a punch without using ridiculous numbers of dam mods... i've had the misfortune of trying to take a gurista destroyer on using emp/phased plasma/photon ammo all the ones for it's shields and just watched it tank my damage, i mean i didnt even get it to half shields... then you run out of ammo, reload, by the time your next salvo comes it is back up to full shield... i know i know dont hunt alone blah blah, speak to any apoc/mega/raven pilot worth a dime and they can solo BS spawns with no real issues.
i dont think it's a tracking issue...
range maybe... when i need to sit infront of my friend who is in a mega using 425's because i need to be closer to hit something is wrong...
damage? definately... when i stop firing and see that the dam that i am dealing doesnt really effect the outcome coz he's still owning on his own but when the situation reverses i watch shield go back up to half in the same amount of time even though i am getting 9 out of 10 hits. (before you say anything, we both started at the same time, have equivilant gunnery skills etc... and similar setups, ie 1 tracking cmop 1 sensor booster, 1 dam mod) You cant tell me that something isn't wrong here?

Yeah, it needs some loving because the DOT is appaling now... and distance - I can probably target farther in a caldari cruiser than I can in a tempest

Every ship should be viable and tempest is tier 2 battleship. It's a bit like false advertising really isnt it, as far as i could tell the minmattar way of thinking as far as ships goes is 'make it as fast and destructive as possible dont worry about defence' but now they're reduced to reasonably quick ships with no bite...

Boo-hoo, 1400s don't do 1600 dmg at 100km away!! stop calling for the devs do something and alter your setups. Use 1200s, try close-range guns and a MWD. You shouldn't be shield tanking Tempests or Phoons anymore, so MWD ain't a problem.
1400s are suppose to have low tracking- they are for sitting still and slogging it out with sentry guns/ stations/ other BS. If you move and try and fire them at a frigate or cruiser you SHOULDN'T be able to hit, and if you do not for much.
Another thing, config your scanner to show transversal velocity. the bigger the number, the worse the hits you'll get. play around and work out how to get the number as low as possible. that should improve your dmg.

Good thing other players always oblige us by sitting still and slugging it out. Its not like they warp out when getting to much damage from a long range tempest setup. Ever tried slogging it out with sentry guns? If your a moron don't post.
