Grow the hell up, the lot of you.
A month or two might not seem like a lot, but some of us have been following dust for years. It's just the frustration of luck trumping effort to see the game first. The cynic would reply that's why it doesn't matter if we get in the beta since we'll jump in anyway. But there is also something to be said of wanting perks for loyalty. |

Very well said sir!
Some people are whining about "should get special treatment" but that's not the point here.
The point is that you CCP care so much about what you produce, as we the players care so much about how you shape our sandbox (Last year more than proved that as talked about greatly at FF).
Having invaluable feedback and real testing can have a huge positive effect on a development, game or otherwise, letting Sony add a mass hoard of anyone is not going to help the cause.
I'm sure there were politics involved, but it could have been handled much better. Why could the MPT sign-ups and FF people not be included in the 5000? If Sony did not care who got in.

I can completely understand the attitude some of the players have, I too would feel insulted to be given this warning of breaking NDA for a game that I havn't even been given access too, given I don't own a PS3 I havn't been able to apply for the Beta of DUST 514, but if I was in their position I would probably feel the same knowing they're being told off for breaking an NDA for a beta they don't even have access to currently. |

Also, the NDA explicitly allows sharing what is already known. Since this is the same build that was displayed at fan fest, a vast majority of the videos so far feature legal content. Not saying I don't get the spirit, but perhaps this is overreaction. |

CCP, release a patch that requires the user to pass a test that tests whether they read the NDA. Van Halen had the wits to specify in the middle of his contract with promoters that there should be no brown M&M's. Why you might ask? Because it was then easy for him to check the table for brown M&M's to see if they really read the contract. You can even read this very trustworthy link where Van Halen states the consequences of what happens when people don't read the contract.

Noobs! MMO companies give bloggers beta keys as a legal maneuver to shut them up until the beta is done...and official release has occurred.
Once a blogger registers or uses his beta key, for all practical purposes he/she cannot say anything about the game that is not official CCP press release, no matter where he got the info or it is just his opinion. Quite often it legally ties up any soapbox organization they work for as well unless special "white room" measures are made to prove they didn't talk to anyone else in their organization. Most even semi-professional bloggers know that.
And its no surprise NDA is not highly read. Its two most common purposes are obvious public knowledge: protect new technology until patented and protect Public Relations status of game by not talking about any problems technical or personal. (Closed beta is rare occasion where you may get to talk direct to certain programmers with big egos and without social skills). Some NDA go as far as to prohibit publication of beta problems and evolutions forever to keep reputations pristine (we never did stupid stuff and have no asshats working here).
The one thing occasionally shows up that people may be ignorant about and which not every NDA carries is: Clauses that say
*** BETA Players are not to discuss game play issues with other BETA players.***
Why? Its like jury duty. The MMO is trying to prevent group think and influential players from altering your own first impressions of game in order to get valid statistics on problems and liked features.
Too lazy to read DUST514 NDA to see if that is there. But I would not be surprised if this was in fact the big issue CCP is scolding people about. CCP should probably just say - except they probably got too clever in NDA wording and would violate and invalidate their own NDA if they publicly got that specific.
[The most silly restrictive NDAs prohibit discussing or publishing the NDA itself in public (the actual NDA has a preliminary NDA about its own terms). Fortunately it doesn't seem CCP is quite that insanely obsessive.] |

Sigh. Maybe you could .. * Read the NDA before you make a Wall of Text about it * Take a few minutes to read numerous statements by CCP that this is still a closed beta * Read the original post by Navigator where he says (yet again) Beta testers may discuss all aspects of the Dust Beta on their forum. * spend a few more minutes checking web sites where people are saying things like "I dont know why I got a beta key - I never heard of DUST before" and "Here, have my private trial key" -> http://www.ps3trophies.com/forums/general-ps3-discussion/15487-dust-514-privite-beta.html

You seem to be assuming that I haven't. Believe me, I have. And believe me, I want to get an email inviting me to play the beta as much as you.
Unlike you, I haven't translated my enthusiasm into a sense of entitlement and bratty impatience. The Beta is a testing tool, and an important one that's there to iron out kinks in the game before it's released. It's not a zarking reward scheme.
Astonishingly, one of the most important demographics that CCP will be wanting to get feedback on DUST from are people who aren't already emotionally invested in EVE Online, and who haven't been waiting patiently for DUST for a couple of years. The people who can give it a reasonably fair and unbiased opinion rather than fangasming all over it, in other words.
Being a paying EVE customer is ALREADY giving you privileged access in the form of Mordu's Private Trials and Fanfest beta keys. It's just not giving you immediate, right-this-second privileged access which is what you and so many other people seem to want.
Cultivate some patience. you've already waited a couple of years - what's another month going to harm you? An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

We want an apology, only a relatively small number people who play EVE have a PonyStation, few if any of those have Beta keys release basically by Sony to PonyStation people ... as far as I am aware no Beta keys have been issued specificly to EVE players.
If you had issued Beta keys to EVE players only first you probably wouldn't be getting these issues now, and you would be getting far more useful feedback from them.

Well done, CCP, well done.
After last years fiasco with AURUM and "vanity items", I had really hoped you had learned a thing or two about HOW NOT to **** off your fans.
But EVE players may have the last laugh yet... SONY isn't doing so hot in the corporate way... huge staffing cuts... luckily, SONY's game division was allegedly "spared" thus far... but hey... the next round of cuts is only as far away as the next Quarterly Report ... and DUST isn't even on the shelves yet.
Just saying.

right, most of us wouldn't leak the product if we paid to go see it and didn't break the NDA there. They gave it to people who didn't even know what it was. there is one guy who is stoned playing dust 514 up on youtube. He records the game and even laughs at the title closed beta test.
These are people you have testing your game ccp? not those of us who signed up months ago by following your dev blogs and playing you because we love eve as a product and want to test it for you?
Instead of give it to these people. |

That's not the point, CCP said and told the community that these 5000 keys were closed beta testers as in internal testers that work and volunteers to test games. CCP has something similar with the playerbase on the more secure testing servers where they have help from the playerbase.
If this had been true, and it was an offical stress test with people who were professional in other alpha testing events you would of been right. But instead the people that got beta keys were randomly selected, and that's why I now am on your side of the fence. I really didn't think they gave them out to random people. |

My brother who don't play EvE but has a PS3 got sent a beta key direct from Sony to his email address. He doesn't give 2 ***** about EvE or Dust but also don't care about posting video's of closed beta.
I'm not going to comment about the possibility of him posting video's as i do not want to be part of that, but I'm afraid where I'm from your DNA means NOTHING.

I mean, what were you thinking?!? letting an assortment of players from across the us at random. When maybe only 10-20% of people who have a ps3 have even heard of dust yet. And only 15% of people who play eve even post on the forums.
So you picked a group of people who you can't control and have no invested in getting banned from dust 514 becuase they don't care? The leaked videos aren't even ever good! I've seen all 3 of them and they are just somebody doing things like.

2.Create character, all three videos the make the basic boring caldari marine
3.Confused by the fitting video none of this leaks even touches the fitting system.
4. Non eof them even understand how the skill window works. some guy spent 2 minutes trying to click a skill to upgrade it. ignoring the pop up window that says "you don't have enough skill points" the guy just keeps clicking it and then closing the pop-up.
Basically they show nothing of your game anyways. Terrible leaks that literally ignore showing off most of what makes dust 514 different.
shame on your CCP, having to watch these idiots fail at playing a simple MMOFPS. One guy even proclaims shook of amazing when he finds out there is a jump button! go look it up yourself, it's an embarrassing 1st look the world is getting at your game cp.
Beautifully put, this is an elegant persuasion why people who CARE about Dust 514 should have got beta keys first and regardless of that, why Fanfest people should have got in first. People over at Eve Uni who have created Dust Uni, or even anyone from eve really, might have been able to help the poor PSN nubs. Accelerate your particles out of my system immediately! |

Seriously? Why would you send out beta keys to random Playstation Plus members, most of which have probably never heard of EVE, if there is an NDA in place? I couldn't agree more. Also I fear an influx of idiots like those in the videos and CCP dumbing down EVE to cater to these people. It seems obvious these console players have no interest or patients for even the complexity of Dust.
Hopfully when the number of people playing on PS3 inevitably disappears due to its complexity it will be released on PC to people who can really appreciate it and turn it into something really special.
If the average console player cannot mash the "x" button from the main menu and eventually end up in a game they lose interest quickly, this is your targeted audience CCP? A huge percent of the people playing this game will never use or understand half the features you have put into the game, they will quit and go play the latest CoD cause it is simple and easy Two different breeds, Console players and PC players. see I 100% disagree with you. There are many more serious clans popping up everyday. The console gaming comunnity is growing and maturing and trying to push these people out. The problem is the games don't push these people out. Dust 514 is a great experiment to condense the hardcore FPS community into a single game that gives them more to think about because they are finally tire of playing games that don't require you to think. But it seems obvious that dust 514 will require you to think and use your brain.
I think all of the serious FPS gamers who want something different that is more invovling are going to pile into dust. The people who want fps to be boardcasted like a sport, the fps players that love complex gaming.
Hopefully dust will finally prove there is a breed of console gamers with a brain that are sick of the current generation of nonsense.
And on top of that it will get released for PC : )

Um, CCP, talk to a lawyer... I mean, a real one. If Sony is randomly distributing the game prior to obtaining a binding consent on an NDA, isn't SONY is violation of the confidentiality agreements CCP signed with SONY?

While I agree that it is a bit redundant to have a post about the NDA and Beta here on the forums, I hardly see it as an issue. Also, I'm fairly certain that the current Beta available to whatever Sony Playstation testers is one that I don't want to be in. Of course, I am hoping that we get on something a little more recent than an early stress testing beta.
Wouldn't want to use up my Beta access rights, (if I actually have any; that is, I get in), on something that early on. I'm looking at the opportunity to test the skills training, see what it's all about, try some of the new toys, and get a better picture of what it's going to be like when it hits full release.
June 2012 is sort of when we can expect it to hit full release stage afterall, and we are looking at that being only a month away really, so why not expect that CCPs granted access to Mordus Private Trials is going to be testing for the Pre-release Beta which anyone sensible would really want access to.
It is expected we will be able to continue on training and playing with our Beta account to one degree or another anyway. What is more rewarding than that. I can't say I expect the same to be available to the Playstation Beta access players but you never know.
I'm happy with whatever works out anyway and I don't really see CCP Navigator as flogging us in any way. You'd sort of have to be guilty of breaking the NDA to actually find any validity in such a statement with regard to yourself I should think. Having not done so, I hardly see the point in worrying about it. Turn WiS into wIN! ..make all the characters Nude. |

You need to take this up with Sony. It's pretty disappointing to be an Eve Fan, to be a Fan-Fest Attendee, to have been waitng for months for access to the beta, to be really excited about it .....
And then have Sony hand out Beta keys to a bunch of people who dont give a s***t about your product.
Reminding us all here that others are breaking the NDA, when most of us dont have acess to the beta just rubs salt into the wound.
Sony's decision to bypass CCP and give acess to non eve players does leave a bitter taste.
