freedom is good. but borderless freedom will bring you back to the stoneage.
It is within the mechanics of the game though. CCP can't really afford the PR hit to change the mechanics and save BoB with the box set hitting stores in march. To many have been disbanded by failing to pay fees, spies etc in the past. What you might see would be a change in mechanics in the future where it takes a vote rather than one click.
I have no doubt that the various BoB corps will reform into a new alliance. Whether they all go along can't say, but I doubt its the end of them.
CCP can afford the PR hit. Since their acquisition of Whitewolf and their supposed expansion into tabletop gaming and the World of Darkness slated as their next MMO, CCP could decide to take the PR hit in regards to EVE and simply favor their new development over their first child. I doubt CCP would close EVE over mass quittings, but to be honest, EVE is relatively obscure in the MMO market since SoE puts out MMOs like a triple-kunted hooker and WoW has every 5 year old wondering what "****ed my pants" means.
I hate to say it, but as far as games go, the 50-100 thousand players of EVE can be considered a somewhat expendable body of people.

what ccp really cant afford is the PR of the image which the ppl will get - a game where you can build up a big and successfull alliance with a big territory in years of work, where a single person who has a bad day can ruin the whole thing with some clicks. |

SOE once thought they could take a hit on SWG and it didn't matter......
They have yet to launch a successful MMO since the NGE to SWG from Nov 2005.
Trust me if CCP bails out BoB in this case it would be no different and WoD would never succeed. |

Yes but it doesn't have to succeed. CCP can simply sell out to another company if they actually do start losing support from gamers, swap out executives, and the originators of EVE go windsurfing with Bjork for the rest of their rather wealthy lives while new management turns EVE into something generic. |

CCP only makes a fraction per Chinese, but, hey, quantity. Given that EVE lets so many people pay for EVE time in ISK, the expendability of players is accenuated by the fact that they play enough to play for free.
