So far as I can tell there are 2 stories - it was a hacked account, or it was a defector.
If it was a hacked account Goonswarm is in serious trouble and would be facing CCP consequences. - I don't like goonswarm but I don't think they are that stupid as to do something this big with a hacked account (at least on purpose)
I tend to think Goonswarm is on the up and up this time and are enjoying bragging rights.
Either way this is an epic moment in Eve histroy with the overnight distruction of one of the major powerblock. |

Do the goons know that if BOB dies they will be the ones with a target on their backs? I don't care a whole lot about politics but this can only be good for PVPers everywhere. If BOB goes, goons will have more enemies then they can imagine. |

Unpaid bill or traitorous director with an axe to grind it matters not. BoB as we knew it is no moar and the goons now have control of the name. Epic lulz commenced on teh forums for a bit and then eve went on and everyone got back to farming level 4 missions and pwning n00bs at gate camps. The End.

Since this is the greatest thing to happen to eve since the castor expansion I would whole heartly like to thank Goons ala the white knight for slaying Bob ala the evil dragon.
Playing this game close to 5 years now, nothing of this epic magnitude has ever happened, this is made my day happier than anything close to winning the euro millions will.
YEA BABY!!!! :D

alt spies and all that crap is just pathetic to see in a game. i thought a spy in another game was pathetic but that only gave the other side a slight and temporary advantage.
either way its all crap going on in an area of space that doesn't effect me.

IF Goon had implanted someone into BoB with the intention of getting director status on the holding corp of the alliance in order to disband it then yes, it would be epic. Is anything about the "victory" within Eve? Or is this essentially a meta-game hack? I tend to think that if game mechanic tools, like the alliance management UI, e.g., are "fair game" as far as inter-alliance warfare, the gameplay is bypassed entirely.
What is the difference after all between offering a hostile alliance *in-game* the services of your account's access rights to alliance management tools within the game and simply giving away your character for the same purpose? It is precisely the same thing as gaining account access to a hostile char and using your time in their account to disband their corporation and sell all their assets at a dollar to your own. The only difference is who pushes the keys, but the "mover" (the motivating force) is the same and both are "meta-hacks" of the game interface.
It is a hack, a simple accounting trick. It has about as much to do with the Eve Universe as accessing server privileges and going from there.
What would stop any director from potentially selling their account services for real dollars for similar stunts in the future?
The alliance management tools and the game mechanic (e.g., naming of alliances, corps etc.) are there to help *players* (not *characters*) manage their game, not decide inter-alliance wars.
